Constantly loud. Lousy food. Lousy service. Good beach. Come here if you are 20 yrs old or less. Otherwise forget it. Go somewhere else. We will never return. Many other nice places in the area. Wish we had stayed next door.
Vegan family of 6
Our family of 6, with kids ages 5,8,10 and 11 came down with my parents for a family vacation in early December. It was the second time at this resort, for my husband and I and a first time for our kids. We chose to stay here (both times) specifically because of the vegan food options. We have been eating plant based for 8 years and our whole family is vegan. As mentioned by other travellers, everything is labelled. From the buffets to the restaurants and the room service menu. Even my kids could navigate the clearly marked signs at all the foods. The resort has great options for everyone as I eat gluten free also and we try to stick to mostly whole foods. I think it would be helpful to potential vegan travellers to go through each meal and say what we ate and what some options were so I will do that. Breakfast- we ate at the outside buffet everyday for breakfast. The oatmeal is dairy free and there is a bunch of toppings like flax seed, pumpkin seeds, granola, almonds, dried fruit so I had that as a GF option almost everyday. Of course there is also tons of fresh fruit; watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, papaya, pineapple. There is a juice and smoothie menu on the tables of which everything is vegan. I had a green detox juice everyday. There is tofu cubes in the cold bar (with the meats and cheeses) so we would just bring them over to the omelette station and then get it fried up with veggies for a tofu scramble. There is a few Mexican sauces in the buffet that you could add for flavour like a red or a green sauce as it was a bit bland without it but as it's our second time there we actually brought our own turmeric and nutritional yeast shaker which worked great; and there is ketchup on the table. I'm sure they have spices too but we didn't ask. The tofu is actually a different texture, like the Mori-Nu silken kind. It's not bad, just not what I would use if I was making one at home. My husband had this everyday and liked it, so it was still a great option. There was usually a roasted potato or hash brown type option too. Even baked plantains or yams. There is plenty of bread for toast too and sliced avocado so we made avocado toast. The peanut butter is the sweetened kind with added oils and the jam is sweetened too so heads up if you're used to the natural kind. Worked fine though. There is also cereals but to be honest Special K is about the healthiest one I could find. It's mostly Fruit loops, corn pops etc. I think those are vegan but we went with the healthier options. There is plenty of non-dairy milk choices as they had soy, almond and coconut milk. What they didn't have was vegan pancakes or waffles. They are on the room service menu though so we had them the day we went on an excursion and had to leave early. In fairness, we never asked for them to make us any at the buffet, there was plenty of other food for us and we really didn't feel like we went without. Lunch- Most lunches were spent on the beach. My parents are palace members so we were able to order off a VIP beach menu. This included a super tasty veggie burger with a charred Hard a Rock logo on the bun(nice touch). The patty looked house made and had lentils in it, not a processed one. On this menu there is also veggies and fruit plates and vegan sushi rolls and of course nacho chips with guacamole and salsa. Juan was our waiter and he was amazing. He even memorized my daughters' names which all start with the same letter. Totally above and beyond. The pizza shack also made us pizzas with no cheese. They do have vegan cheese at the resort but it was only available on the dinner menus. It would be great if they could offer the non-dairy cheese at the pizza place at lunch too. There is also a grill by the snack bar that serves burgers etc but nothing is vegan, it's all meat options. The veggie burger is only on the VIP beach menu. There is a veggie burger on the room service menu but it would be great if it was an option at the pool too. The snack bar in Frida always has nachos with guacamole and salsa and a bunch of deep fried(non vegan) food with salads. It was hit and miss at this place as a few days they had great vegan salads and then the next day nothing. One day they even had a white bean salad that was delicious and right up our alley. There's also a few ice cream choices there but we found the one sorbet option was usually inside at the lunch buffet. The inside lunch buffet does offer more options and always has hummus which was the best hummus I've ever had. They had a few more substantial salads like asian noodle, spinach salad and vegan sushi rolls. There was always a couple dessert options inside too. We really liked eating there but it was usually just easier to eat at the beach or at the snack bar which was more than enough for us. We never went without. Dinner-Frida the Mexican restaurant was my favorite. There is at least one vegan option under each heading like appetizer or salad or entree. This is in all restaurants. Many times we just ordered multiple of each one. For starters I should say there is a kids menu but it doesn't have anything vegan on it and it's pretty much like chicken strips, hot dogs etc. My kids are used to eating real "adult food" that the whole family eats so that was not a problem. We ordered them multiple orders of the quesadillas with vegan cheese. There was a chickpea sausage entree, another entree I can't remember and a few salads and also they give you plantain chips with a few sauces, salsas and guacamole. They were all delicious. Margaritas were great too and amazing service by the ladies there. Brazilian-we only ate here because my parents (who aren't vegan) wanted to. Sizzling meat on sticks being passed around wouldn't be my first choice but we made the best of it. They did pass around grilled pineapple and that was delicious. There were minimal choices, some vegan sushi rolls, rice, some veggies. But overall no real entree. Asian restaurant- lots of choices, we ordered multiple orders of each appetizer and entree. They were fine to keep the food coming and we had sushi, lettuce wraps, spring rolls and fried rice and a noodle dish with tofu. It was all great. Ciao- Italian restaurant was good too. There was plenty of options between appetizers, pizzas and entrees. Falafel, Paul McCartney pizza with vegan cheese, hummus and pita, rice noodles with veggies and stuffed zucchini. We didn't go hungry. If you come on a night where they do the Mexican Fiesta that was amazing too. It's in the ballroom and set up like a buffet. Lots of rice and beans and salads and tortillas. Candied yams and pumpkin. Very authentic and was great. Entertainment was great too. The coffee bar off the lobby had a few dessert options like the vegan truffles and amaranth balls. The truffles were my fav and scratched the itch for something chocolately and sweet. The vegan desserts in the restaurants were a bit repetitive, like the same dessert made 3 different ways. But I don't want to say anything negative because it really didn't matter. We were thankful to have an option at all and always able to find something to eat. Sometimes we would just go to the inside buffet for dessert to get sorbet or fruit with chocolate. It was a good after dinner treat and killed some time before the shows started. Overall this resort is amazing. We had an amazing holiday with our family and the fact that I didn't have to worry about food the whole time was icing on the cake. Can't wait to go back. Also wanted to say we loved the rock concert and were pulled on stage for the dancing through the America's show which was a memory we will never forget. The GO's work so hard and made our experience unforgettable.
Excellent service, food options, & entertainment
Very friendly staff, beautiful facilities, food options for dietary restrictions clearly labeled (vegan, gf, etc), lots of drink options (alcoholic & non). They had activities all throughout the day and shows at night that were great.
Amazing service and whales
We had a wonderful visit to the Hard Rock! The Beach cabanas were a delight with superb service from Juan. We also had delicious meals at Zen with incredible attention to detail from Junior and Kevin. The Luxury sailing was an amazing treat - we saw whales and dolphins in the wild and enjoyed fun in the water snorkeling and paddle boarding! Thanks to all the kind and friendly staff-we had a vacation we will never forget.
Great place for a relaxing vacation
Beautiful clean resort. Staff friendly and helpful. Rooms extremely clean and comfortable. Comfortable beds and nice bedding. Gorgeous views from your rooms. Great beach. Nice, heated pools. Beautiful spa and beauty shop. Breakfast and lunch good selection. Dinner food just ok. Fun trips if you’re interested. We did whale watching and San Sebastián day trip. Great tour guides. Had a great Butler Uri(members benefit). Also server in members beach area was exceptional name is Juan. Remembered all our names. Helpful in finding chairs for us. Very attentive and friendly. Enjoyed the coffe shop. Staff was excellent and very friendly. Will go again to this resort. Smaller and everything is easily accessible. I did not enjoy yoga on the beach. Too many people on the beach, very distracting. I love yoga. Only went once. Would enjoy a more secluded spot. Overall a very relaxing enjoyable vacation.
