All I can say is that my wife and I had a AMAZING TIME! The dive bar at the pool and their staff are phenomenal! Mateo, Cesar, Gerardo, Ricardo, Leonardo, DIEGO, rosalia, Raul were such a great help and even though they were so crowded they attended everyone and gave the best service and drinks. I will only come to Hard rock hotel next time we come to Cancun! Such a great time, I do not want to leave. Thank you! The front desk, had such a great staff to include Freddy was so helpful. The bell boys were always quick to help and gave us ride to and from our room with such a fast notice, Giovanni, Manuel were so quick to lend us a hand and take everything to our room. Hector at the buffet Market was always next to me refilling everything. VERY IMPRESSED WITH EVERYONE HERE!
Over all good stay
The hotel is really nice. If you are staying in heaven please be aware you can be placed at a distance from other amenities as the hotel is very big. The food within the market and caio is ok standard, it’s buffet to cater a lot of people so please don’t expect good quality. The individual restaurants are a bit better, but I personally didn’t enjoy much that I ate there. I also spent the majority of my stay feeling unwell but can not confirm if this was due to the food or something else. Drinks throughout are really good. There is a lot to do from several pools to bars, a club, bikes to hire, to tennis courts. We wanted to try the golf but didn’t feel that $50 for half a day and a further $45 to rent clubs was fair since it’s advertised as being included. These costs are per person. The area in general has a lot to offer, you can book a lot of trips for decent prices. I booked an appointment in the salon at the hotel which was nice, my hair looked amazing but unfortunately I cannot remember the name of the lady who did it. Even though her English was not amazing, she did exactly what I asked if not better. William in the market is so friendly, we looked forward to seeing him. Victoria in heaven on the day trip desk was really nice and made booking trips easy with no pressure.
Almost like old times
We've been going to this resort annually since 2002. The conversion to Hard Rock a few years ago was an unpleasant shock. Service, food and atmosphere all declined. This year, however, it seems they've seen fit to restore the old atmosphere. New management? Adriana Campos in Public Relations solved all our problems and made it a wonderful vacation. Almost like old times.
Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya Mexico
Beautiful Resort. Plenty of gourmet food from different nationalities. Italian, Mexican, American, French, Japanese etc . The man made Beach is like a pool with sea water. I love it. There are several ones plus plenty of pools. There is a water slide like the ones you see in water parks also there is a zip line small for children only open two days during the week. The water spa is delightful for a day of full relaxation. I can just go on and on. You just have to go and experience the fun.
Hard Rock Riviera Maya. What a great disappointment!
The disappointment starts at day one. No greetings, no tequila, no appetizer, no juice, not even water, was offered upon our arrival. We end up asking for some refreshments, which we were told to help ourselves from the mini fridge. After about 30 minutes of waiting we came to find out that there were only two rooms available in the entire Hacienda resort side?! We thought maybe the place was packed, but noooo. We later realized the place was probably at 30%, if not less, of full capacity (judging from the empty chairs around the pools and the beaches). The room we end up getting was in building 4, the furthest from all the amenities. The room was very small to accommodate 2 adults and 2 small children, it was outdated and some things were either broken, or poorly fixed, like the bathroom door. The mattresses had to be way over due to be retired, and I'm sure the pillows were as old as the resort. Later we also found out the restaurant Epanema was closed, with a full reconstruction undergoing. On the 2nd day we were called to the Legendary presentation with the promise of no more 90 minutes of pain. Since we are already Legendary Members and were interested in upgrading to a family plan, we decided to go. The presentation, as usual, very organized, with a good team of sales people. After some negotiation we agreed on a deal: 15 weeks at 20% below market in a family room to use in 30 years, 5 years kids free, three free weeks, a year of RCI for $229, 3900 resort credits, all of this for $13,000 + $950 document processing fee, with a down payment of 30% + $950, and 4 years to pay at 0%. We signed the initial document, and our credit card was charged the down payment plus $950 document processing fee (ink must be very expensive in Mexico). Within 2 minutes of getting the receipt for this charge, and our deal being announced through the speaker system in the sales room, the saleswoman came back, and said she had done a mistake and the plan would cost us $500 more. After some disappointment, we agreed to pay the extra $500, since her job seemed to be in jeapordy. Not even 5 minutes later another salesman comes and completely changes the deal, saying that the already signed and paid for agreement was for Brazilian citizens only. He started to draft a new deal, which we did not accept, mainly because we no longer trusted anyone. In the end the salespeople disappeared, and the sales manager didn't even have the guts to show up and apologize. Our down payment and processing fee was refunded, but more than half of day lost of our vacation, which end up being the rest of the week due to this great frustration, wasn't. If this was some employee's mistake, the company should've owned the mistake and honor what was agreed originally. If this was a sales strategy to get more money from those stupid gringos, it backfired. On the third night at around 4am, my family woke up to the noise of metal food trays being picked up in the hallway by 2 employees talking to each other in loud voice and kicking a soda can down the hallway. The following night the same thing happened, but this time I called the management, and the noise stopped almost immediately, despite the management saying it could be an animal going through the leftovers. Come on! We had great expectations for the spa. We scheduled the Deep Tissue couple's massage. For some odd reason I was called off the hydro therapy 20 minutes before my husband, and was left by my self in the waiting room. There was no reason for this; the spa was empty, and my husband was still not done with his. The massage itself was also not enjoying at all. The pressure applied was way too much, and both of us left with back pain, instead of feeling better. 80 minutes of pain! Don't do this to yourself. The service around the pools and beaches was also a let down. The food was mediocre and it seemed this area was understaffed, even though the resort was far from being full. The restaurants at the Hacienda were a disappointment, and the dinner for the Legendary Members hosted at the Touro was very disorganized, and the food was of poor quality with not much more than cheese sticks as appetizers, and 3 over grilled shrimps on a stick for the main course. The wine choices were three: white, red, or rose from the same wine company. Many people left the dinner within a few minutes after the band started to play, and others were commenting how disappointed they were as Legendary Members. Another great disappointment were the night shows, which are more of a joke than anything else. After the show ends, that's about it, You're in bed at 10:30. Another very shady practice being done by Hard Rock Riviera Maya is that if your final bill, let's say is $200.60, they will charge $201.00. This malpractice happened to us, and when I confronted the front desk person as to why they don't round down to the nearest dollar, they said they couldn't because the account would then be negative. Well, if they are always rounding up to the nearest dollar, how many millions did Hard Rock steel so far?... and didn't pay taxes on? It's a shame that Hard Rock Riviera Maya got this low. When we signed up to become Legendary Members four years ago, we never thought we would be treated so bad. Before this trip we had decided we were going to upgrade our membership, since our family has grown, but after the treatment we had at Hard Rock Riviera Maya, it will never happen. Do not make the same mistake we did to go to this place, let alone become a member.
