July family vacation
We had never been to Bermuda and this was by far our favourite place to vacation. It’s hard to believe that there were so many people staying at the resort because the beach was not full of people. We did not go with the all inclusive package but there is plenty of great food to savour at the restaurants and bar on site. We had a blast!
Two couples spent a week here. Only 5 minutes from airport. Our travel agent booked the all inclusive package that included meals and transportation passes. A wristband identifies you and all food and drink is free. Well worth it. Our room #222 was nice. Bed comfortable and located near pool and path to restaurants. Food and drink were delicious. Tues. night buffet and Thurs. night surf and turf was amazing. All staff are extremely courteous and friendly. You will note on your food ticket that a 17% tip is included so you don’t have to tip extra. The beach has lots of chairs and floats to go in the beautiful aqua waters. This place is ideal for kids, with large inflatables to jump and play on in the bay waters. There are lots of steps and paths to and from your room to the main hotel for meals. So I would caution you to consider. But we were able to call the bellman at #32 on room phone to come and take us up or down the hill.
Wonderful Property but location is Far from Anything!(Close to Airport)
Beautiful property and beach! It is tough to get the room dark at night due to bright light outside of hotel room door. Nice views from the balconies. The food is very expensive as is most of Bermuda. This property is very hilly and not for the elderly or anyone with walking problems.
My wife and I traveled with our toddler to Bermuda and stayed five days at Grotto Bay Resort. Overall the resort was nice, with a few minor inconveniences. Unfortunately, it rained the entire time we were there, which prevented us from using the pool or relaxing on the beach. Luckily they have a fairly big lodge where the restaurants are located where our toddler could run around while waiting to eat or when we were between activities. One of the surprises when we got there was how hilly the place was. We had to climb up a fairly steep set of stairs to get from our room to the lodge, which was complicated by my wife being pregnant and me nursing a leg injury. We were grateful the resort offered a van service to and from our room, but would have preferred not needing help. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. We had opted not to get the all inclusive package since we planned on trying out different restaurants, but we enjoyed the breakfast buffet selection every day. The room was clean and spacious. However, the front door had a glass pane covered by blinds. We normally like to sleep in the dark, but an outdoor light right outside our room lit everything up. We were also staying in an ocean front room, but could barely see the water being on the first floor at the end of the property with a lot of scrubs blocking the view. These didn’t detract too much from the stay, but would factor in to which room/building I’d request to stay in if we were to visit again.
From start to finish we LOVED the Grotto Bay Beach Resort & Spa. The staff was amazing in helping plan our visit. Swimming in the cave was a highlight, the cavespa was fantastic and the waterpark, kayaking, snorkeling, paddleboarding, pool and other amenites were top notch. Simply paradise!! Loved it!
