Room was dirty and dated. Sliding glass door was filthy, sink was clogged, shower leaked water on floor, safe didn't work, door lock didn't work properly, ants in the bathroom, mirror in bathroom was dirty. Would never stay there again.
An amazing time!
15 of us had a family reunion at this resort. There were 6 kids aged 10 to 19. The place was very clean, the staff were very attentive. The kids loved the slides as well as the ocean. We did not eat on the resort as much but went to the nearbye Wailea shops and had breakfast and dinner there. We also went to some restaurants in the neighbouring resorts. The issue with the chairs I can understand, theres like only 4 rows of chairs at the beach. They open up the spots at 7am and theres usually a big line. If you come after 9am usually all chairs are gone. Spots do open up in the afternoon. The Resort is very big and there is lots of walking to beach/pool and back to your room. So if you dont like to walk then this resort is not for you. The resort is valet parking only which is a pain to be honest. Overall I was impressed and would come back! Thank you for making my first trip to Hawaii an awesome one!
Way too Expensive
$17 for one drink? $66 for breakfast for two (no alcohol)? You've gotta be kidding me. I understand things are more expensive in Hawaii, but they nickel and dime you for everything. Want to reserve a beach chair for more than hour, that'll cost you. $40 resort fee PER night. For paying +$700/night, the room is no better than an Embassy Suites.
Past it’s prime
Stayed in a suite in Napua Tower for an arm & a leg. We’ve been coming here since 2002 with our son & daughter. The shower had mold everywhere (looked like a cheap motel shower but didn’t pay motel prices to say the least) son slept first night on sofa bed that you could feel the springs. He woke up with a backache. Next night they brought a rollaway that was just as bad and the mattress tag was September 1999 (20 years old). I gave a list of problems to staff and had to contact them again several days later because no one fixed the problems. Bad stay at Grand Wailea.
Amazing family experience
My kids are still asking when we can go back to this resort. Check in experience was efficient and we were upgraded (Hilton Diamond) into a beautiful suite in the executive lounge section at no additional charge. The room was spacious, well laid out and had an extensive balcony and fantastic ocean and resort views. Not the most luxurious room we have ever had, but it met our needs perfectly and we were thrilled with it. The great appeal of this resort is the extensive pool system. Everything you read about it is true. It is massive and has something for everyone. The resort was busy, however, and obtaining poolside seats takes some strategizing. This was far less of an issue in the adult section, however. Food at the resort was solid. Breakfast in the lounge area was great with lots of excellent choices, the afternoon snack and cocktail service and then the evening dessert stations were very well done. Great quality, organization and staffing. The poolside restaurant is very good and was a surprisingly good value. There are several solid restaurant choices off the resort within a 5 minute drive too. Monkey pod is a really great place to visit, but don’t go without a reservation. We generally didn’t have a lot of staff interactions at the resort, which I think is a testament to the efficiency of this place. Any request we did have was fulfilled timely with a single request. This was our third trip to Hawaii in a year so I’m not sure we will return any time soon but for families with kids under 12-13 years old, this is the place.
