Beach lovers will enjoy the Eva Mandarina Beach Club, which is only a 10-minute shuttle ride from the resort. Catch the shuttle as it makes its rounds every 30 minutes and enjoy some fun in the sun! You'll also want to taste the delicious cuisine that's available at the club, like refreshing ceviche and authentic tacos. All-inclusive drinks and light eats (served a la carte) can be enjoyed from 10 am to 6 pm.
Make your way back to the resort for dinner and savor the dishes offered at the Japanese or Rodizio restaurants. If you prefer a buffet option, you'll love the themed dining events, which include Mexican, Oriental, Mediterranean, and more. There's even a snack bar to enjoy poolside. Sip a cool cocktail or have a light bite as you sprawl out by the water.
Need to unwind and release some tension? The Makawe Spa offers a variety of treatments to target areas that could use a little extra attention, including hand and foot care, massages, waxing, and more. You can also enjoy the steam bath, plunge pool, and various indoor and outdoor treatment rooms.

Amazing Views, high-end rooms, nice hotel vibe, terrible food.
I'll start by saying that me and my family stayed at Matlali Hills during a weekend where two weddings took place (at the complex and at the beach club) and maybe the amount of guests that were staying in the hotel had repercussions in our hotel experience (specially in our experience with the restaurants), with that being said: The hotel is huge and really has a chic eco-friendly vibe that is hard to be found in other lodging options in the area. The rooms are pretty big and amazingly decorated, you truly feel like you are staying in an incredibly expensive hotel that has amazing views from every balcony. There are some average pools with nice heated-water for the kids and there are some secluded pools/hot-tubs for adults with terrific views and great service from the bars that are close to this "adult-only" locations. The lounge-settings in the adult only areas are extremely beautiful and invite the guest to never leave those pool havens. The staff was always nice and accommodating, the booze goes from downright scary-cheap to premium so you better know way around liquor or you'll end up with something crappy in your tropical cocktail. Our biggest issue was with the variety of food options, the taste of the food and the fact that we didn't have the chance to try any of the a-la-carte restaurants because none of them were open during the days that we stayed there. There was no japanese or steak restaurant, we only had the option to have breakfast at the restaurant that's next to the basketball court and dinner at the Raixes restaurant, but both options during our 3-day stay consisted in a buffet that was lacking flavor and a variety of food options. During the breakfast we had to endure half-hour lines in order to order an omelette (only one person in one station), bad planning on behalf of the chefs who kept making dishes like "sorted steam-vegetables" while dishes with protein were non-exisitng or even chilaquiles were not found during any of our breakfast periods. In the evening one night we had to endure an "italian night" with only pasta options in the buffet (these pasta didn't have anything else on them and consisted of only the dough with some sauce), a lot of vegetable options and again no protein or main dish that could really fill your stomach or that could even suggest you that they were not trying to be cheap and just give you low-quality ingredients to save some money. During dinner you couldn't ask for liquor or a cocktail from the bar because "the bar is too far away" so your only options were cold water or a terribly bitter red wine. So summarizing I can say that this could be an amazing lodging option with extraordinary facilities and a good beach club (the food at the beach club was the best out of all that we had), but I can say without a doubt that in this hotel we endured the lowest quality of food in an all-inclusive accommodation; also, the place is not in the best possible location.
I had an opportunity to visit this resort. This is a very nice and friendly resort. The people listed below help to make dinner great: Argentina, Flor,Maurizzio,Luis Gabriel and Bruno was a group of great friendly people. The Chinese food and Italian food was great.
Flor, Argentina, Maruvizeio, Gabriel and Bruno are amazing! Our trip has “hit the spot” with our meals. Japanese tonight was delicious and entertaining. Service is excellent. Respectful staff serving with all smiles. The atmosphere is top notch and well done in the dining areas. The views while dining are tranquil.
Great relaxing holiday
If you are looking for a relaxing all inclusive this is it! - Although it is not directly on the beach, there is a convenient shuttle to take you there. The atmosphere is relaxed with an adult "focus". - The staff were hard working (Fransico was amazing!! But also Jiovani, Cecil, Esmeralada and Jasmin). - We thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails and the juice bar. - No shortage of places to sit. We often were at the adults only pool, but the mineral pool was also very nice. - The food was good. My boyfriend is picky and always found something to eat but the food was not amazing. You had to make reservations for the a-la-carte restaurants and they were sometimes difficult to get into, however 20 pesos at the door could change that ;) . The adults only pool also had an amazing snack bar!! Best guacamole ever and Fransisco always made sure our drinks were full. - The room was AMAZING! Best hotel room we have stayed in. Very spacious and luxurious. Beds were comfortable with a beautiful balcony. - Although the resort is hilly there is always someone to take you on the golf cart if you don't want to walk. - We recently stayed at the Grand Palladium Vallarta but preferred the Matlali Resort as it is smaller and more luxurious. - This is a unique all inclusive experience as it is quiet and in the jungle.
AMAZING STAY AT THIS RESORT!!!
We had the most wonderful stay at Matlali Hills Resort and Spa. This is the perfect getaway for a small group of friends or with your significant other. If you are looking for an intimate place to relax, are open to nature, and want to stay away from a younger crowd of party goers -this is the place for you. The surroundings are stunning and idyllic and perfect for people who enjoy walking (because there is a fair amount of walking to access pools/restaurants etc. around the resort). The front desk was extremely helpful with anything/everything we needed. All the staff, from grounds keepers to house keeping to the spa therapists to the restaurant servers and bar servers (including everyone at the Eva Mandarina Beach Club) work extremely hard and were attentive and friendly. Major shout outs to Jesus, Leo, Antonio (the one who hosted the nightly entertainment), and the main bartender at Sky Bar (we never got his name!). A big thank you goes to Antonio and another huge thank you to ISMAEL (the activities coordinators at the beach). Ismael truly made our trip worthwhile. He has same amount of high energy every single day and you can tell he truly enjoys what he is doing. He’ll always make sure everyone is enjoying themselves at all times so if you get a chance to meet him, tell him Andie and Jeff says hi!! He has such a great attitude and work ethic that seems effortless. Lastly, the front desk was aware that we were celebrating our anniversary and our decorations left us speechless. They went above and beyond and it truly touched us. We had such a fantastic trip and we look forward to coming back in a few years! Thank you to everyone at this resort, it was a stay that we’ll always remember!
