beautiful grounds, but lacks attention to details
The resort is eco friendly, which is awesome, but they did not provide with any straws, and the plastic cups, were not really kept clean. We had 5 toddlers and wished they provided, at least, paper straws. We asked for the plastic cups with straws that should be provided at the family clubs, but the receptionist told us they were only for older children. What?! guat?! who needs it more? the older kids that can drink out of cups, or the toddlers that still need the help of straws to drink???? My major issue was food. The food was mediocre, even a la carte was pretty bad. It was basically the food from the buffet. Food was not provided by the pool, only had a grill stand, that had tacos or burgers. Walking from the pool, to the buffet for lunch was such a waste of time. It was an hour and a half process. One day I decided to get take out from the sport bar, it still took me an hour to go there, order, and get back to the pools. The pools were extremely outdated. The staff, some were great, some were really bad. Specially a host at the buffet, which was always angry. The wait staff, were friendly, but un trained. They lacked of service skills. They all need some basic training on how to serve people and not forget things. Overall, for the price, we can't complain, but we will never go back again. A lot of time was wasted going back and forth the buffer. There was no good food served at the pool,,,,, and NO room service, which could have saved us some time in the morning.
This is our second time at this resort and we absolutely loved it! Better the second time! No complaints whatsoever, we’ll definitely be back! The service is outstanding in all aspects. Our air conditioner wasn’t working in our room. The repair man came within 5 minutes and replaced the unit within 20mins. Yara, the pool waitress was fantastic! The entertainment crew definitely made the trip more exciting. Can only remember names Angel & Eric but they were all great!
Better Than Expected!!!
This was my first time in Mexico and I travelled with my two friends (we're all Canadian). The resort and the excursions we did were amazing. Food was good, rooms were clean and there was lots to do on the resort. Apart with some issues with long flight delays we couldn't have asked for a better vacation. We speak a little bit of Spanish and made sure to speak to the employees in Spanish as much as possible, which they loved. We made friends with the bartenders who were amazing and hilarious. Special shoutout to Moises, Ciro, Alberto, Pastor and Adrian <3! Would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely return!
Stolen clothing from our suitcase
We are currently at the hotel for a wedding booked through westjet vacations we wanted people to be aware that hotel staff have went through our luggage and stole clothing that was purchased for the trip and was wore once for breakfast and then changed into formal clothes for the day for the ceremony and dinner . In the morning the pants were not there so we contacted security and the concierge they did send someone to take a report but didnt really seem interested in getti g to the bottom of things more about that we had misplaced the item when clearly that was not the case . Upon further inspection later it was realized that another item was missing as well and again contacted the consierge to have them say they were sending security so we could update the file they never showed up . Be aware of what you bring and pay attention to your belongings left out and put all valuables in the safe provided. I have travelled several times in my life and I have never had anything stolen from me. The fact that someone went into my luggage and helped themselves to my personal belongings has truly ruined my experience. Very disappointed
Not what it used to be
I will start off by saying this is my third time staying at this resort and second time being in the platinum area. I still believe that while this resort doesn’t do anything great, they still do everything well. PROS: The resort is absolutely gorgeous. The grounds, accommodations, restaurants, beach, pools, courtyard, and walkways are all amazing to take in while just meandering around. I don’t quite see where people are coming from when they say the resort looks old or run down, because it doesn’t. If anything the age makes it better because the vegetation is so matured and beautiful. The staff here is also always been awesome and helpful and friendly (except one issue this time, more on that later). We especially want to point out Charlye and Pedro at our platinum lounge bar who took care of us all week poolside. Charlye always had a smile on his face and was always dancing around. Seeing that kind of friendliness just makes the atmosphere so much better. As for food, the platinum a la carte breakfast was awesome and the a la carte dinner restaurants were great. Lunch we only did the taco cart by the pool. Entertainment was very good. Eric did a great job with the rifle shooting and pool entertainment. The Fire Show was also AMAZING. CONS: Our first day checking in was very eventful and not in a good way. We didn’t get our welcome drink which wasn’t a huge deal. But when you pay money and are told you’re getting something, it’d have been nice to get it. We had requested a third floor ocean front room and did not receive it. We figured being out third stay here they would’ve tried to accommodate us a little better. But this part we understand there is never a guarantee on things like that. Our first room they put us in was a smoking room and not the view we requested. No where in the booking process did it even ask if we wanted smoking vs non, but had never been put in a smoking room the previous two stays so wouldn’t have thought of it while booking. Our second room while being non smoking wasn’t much better. This first floor room had zero privacy. You could see right into our room if the blinds were open from the beach walkway. There was also a grounds crew digging a out 50 ft away and the smell of sewage was very strong that so that we couldn’t even enjoy our balcony. I also had to go to the lobby check in three times to ask for our gift we were supposed to receive in the room because it wasn’t there when we got our room. Only plus to the room was that it was the very first room 5001 right by the lobby so it was easy to sneak out for a drink while the lady was getting ready for dinner. On to the food. The buffets have definitely has a drastic fall in quality. Most items were lukewarm. We did the a la carte options whenever possible for this reason. Thankfully we were able to book all these through our private consierge. Be aware in the low season that the restaurants rotate. Not all are open. We were still able to eat at every one that we wanted to eat at so it wasn’t a huge deal for us. If it hadn’t been for the check in blunders, I would’ve given this resort 4 stars. This is a great resort for younger crowds I would say as it’s a very upbeat atmosphere. I will say though for our next vacation we are going to opt to spend a little more money for a newer and more intimate resort. Starting to see the trend of “you get what you pay for” when it comes to vacationing in the Riviera Maya.
