    Good

We actually visited in May of 2018. Lovely resort. Many pools with swim up bars. The rooms were gorgeous, huge bath tubs, with a nice size room and patio. View from balcony was beautiful as well. Very large resort, a lot of walking. They do offer golf cart rides but they do not come around often. I wouldn’t recommend this resort if you have younger children.

Gorgeous resort, but likely my second and last stay

The Grand Riviera Princess has amenities spread all across its large property, so be prepared to do plenty of walking during your stay. The Resort is beautifully landscaped and attentively maintained. Swimming pools stretch almost the entire length of the resort on each side. There's an abundance of wildlife that includes Coatis, Iguanas, and Monkeys. Coatis will snatch up any food or drinks left unattended for just a moment. This is my second and possibly last stay at the GrandRiviera Princess. Service and food quality has regressed since my last stay 3-4 years ago. My first stay was in one of the Grand Riviera general suites with 5 others in my party. This most recent stay was in the platinum suites with 18 others in my party. The main benefits to staying in the platinum suite is the access to a platinum only pool and beach sections as well as free room service between 7 AM and 11 PM. The room service food is not of superior quality to any of the other food. It only came in handy during the one hour gap between breakfast and lunch and lunch and dinner when the only food options are the Sports Bar, all the way at the front of the Resort, and burger/ fajita stands poolside. The platinum pool is nice if you are looking for a quiet place to hang out, but all the music and poolside activities are in the larger pool. The pool was extremely warm (it was mid 90s each day of our trip) which took the refreshing aspect away from taking a dip. The worst part about our stay that would lead me to reconsider staying again was the regression in food quality and service since my last stay. In fairness, we were traveling with a large group, but it was not uncommon for our meals to take 2+ hours at night. One night, at the Fondue Restaurant, 2 hour had elapsed and half of us had only been served drinks and apps while the other half had been finished for 30 minutes. We left out of frustration and because we had a show to get to. Bear in mind we had reservations each night and the restaurants were never full, so it's not like we took them by surprise with a larger party. They had the chance to prepare to serve a large party and they failed on each occasion. The last few days we canceled the reservations and headed straight to the buffet, which was acceptable but nothing to praise. We decided to stay at the Grand Riviera for what was once a variety of excellent dinner options, but were extremely disappointed in its decline.

    Family trip

First time stay in Mexico for us and our 3 children. We stayed in a family swim out room. Loved the swim out room but my son had a pull out sofa bed to sleep on for 2 weeks which he was far too big for. Loved the drinks and variety of food. It was mainly breakfast that let it down, sometimes some of the food was cold. Otherwise food was fantastic! The hibatchi and mama Mia were by far the best Al la carte. All staff we came across were very friendly and helpful, only staff which let it down were those in the ice cream parlour, they were miserable every day. Room was kept lovely and clean everyday. Huge resort lots to do.

    Lovely setting

The hotel grounds are lovely. It is kept very well and clean. The staff work very hard to keep it looking nice. The food is only ok. Try and visit all the a la carte restaurants as they are all very good, much better than the buffet. The food and drink is plentiful though. Miso was our best meal, it was amazing. Mini fridge in room is replenished daily so make use of all available drinks. There is evening entertainment, normally a live band which was really good. There are pool waiters and waitresses constantly bringing you drinks which is lovely and they are all very friendly. Went on a dolphin adventure at port adventura which was amazing and about the same price booked in the hotel as online. The whole hotel has everything you need with so many pools but sadly spoilt the holiday by people playing there own music by the pool. We couldn't find a quite place, so If you want a peaceful holiday ithis is not the place.

    Gorgeous hotel

In the lead up to our visit to Mexico, we almost changed our hotel based on the many negative reviews on here. However, thankfully, we had a fantastic time and enjoyed our stay greatly. The hotel grounds are beautiful and every day there is a workforce out ensuring it is in top condition. Our room was always spotless and the air con was a god send in the heat. For breakfast and lunch there was a wide array of places to eat. The 2 main buffet restaurants and 2 other buffet restaurants near the pools, which we preferred to eat at. Often, service in the morning was slow and many mornings we were not offered coffee, but juice was self service. Lunch could be eaten by the pool if you didn't want to go inside at either the burger and hot dog bbq or the tacos bbq. The themed nights at the buffet were good, particularly the spanish night which was our favourite. However, on the nights that we didn't like we booked into the a la carte restaurants. We tried the steak, Fondue and Mexican and enjoyed them all, however they weren't necessarily better than the buffet restaurants. The pools were rather warm come afternoon due to the heat, but the deeper ones had a bit more coolness to them. The beach was plagued with seaweed, however despite what others have said, hotel staff couldn't physically stop it, it was still nice for a walk along it. Loved all of the wildlife, the coatis are very cute and we even got to see a couple of spider monkeys. Thankfully, we spotted not crocodiles! Overall, a very good stay.
