Great hotel, great service, great vacation
My wife and I visited the resort last week staying 7 nights. We loved every minute of it. There was only a slight miscommunication upon check in (we had paid for an upgraded package through AirCanada vacations and I don't think it had been communicated to the hotel), however this was promptly rectified upon talking to reception - thank you to the staff member that organized this for us (sorry I forgot your name). We were looking for a small, relaxing resort away from the hustle and bustle of downtown PVR and this hotel was PERFECT. Yes, the beach has waves and an undertow (it is the Pacific Ocean after all) - but is still easily swimmable if you are a competent swimmer. We had goggles too and had a fun time spotting different fish and rays out in front of the hotel. Yes, this resort is located out of town but you can easily get the bus (or taxi) into Puerto Vallarta if you want to - we did to see a show and it was hassle free. I liked that it was out of town as it have it a more laid back and relaxing vibe. The rooms are HUGE and have epic ocean views. The hotel is kept clean and tidy at all hours. I know that there are some negative reviews regarding the food however, I personally had no issues with everything tasting fresh and flavourful (we ate at all of the restaurants). There was a higher proportion of typical Mexican dishes than I have seen at other resorts - but personally I see this as a positive, especially the breakfast buffet. All of the staff were AMAZING - so friendly, always smiling and very patient and understanding with my Spanish (I speak spanish like a 3 year old child - my wife speaks better). Some special mentions to specific staff below. Cafe Sole: Carolina and the other girl (sorry I can't remember your name) were always so friendly and provided excellent service throughout our stay. I looked forward to my daily espresso doble. Ekinox: Natalio was always ready with a smile and can mix a super decent daiquiri. One day he even went out of his way to bring us coffee to the rooftop bar (even though it wasn't on the menu). Jorge thanks for your recommendation of 43 - it is my new favourite liqueur. Front desk: Jose and Nayeli- thank you so much for the cake and card you organized for our birthday breakfast. Spa: We had massages, body wraps and aromatherapy treatments at the spa. The two women (sorry I did not catch your names) provided excellent treatments. They were always very friendly, courteous and professional. Lifeguard: Edwin (or Edward - I didn't quite catch your name) did a great job making people aware of the conditions and keeping people safe. I really enjoyed our conversation on the beach - we only wish that our stay was longer so that we could have hungout and talked with you more 🙂. Overall we had a great experience and would love to return for another visit with more of our family.
January visit to Puerto Vallarta
We enjoyed our return visit to Grand Park Royal. Pleased to see all of the construction completed but most pleased to learn that the food is as good as ever. The El Pescador restaurant was very good. We enjoyed the fish soups and ceviche salads. One evening I had the best octopus I have ever had. Our waiter Luis provided excellent service. The breakfast buffet was okay and the Frida Mexican restaurant was okay. The Andiamo Italian restaurant is where we ate most of our dinners. Our waiter Gustavo made us feel very welcome and always seemed to appear just when needed. Thanks Gustavo. Except for the pizza, the food at Andiamo was truly excellent. The antipasto bar was unbelievable. You could have easily made a meal of just the antipasto bar. We really appreciated the fact that it was easy to access all of the hotel services, no reservations were required for any of the restaurants, there were plenty of deck chairs, we never once had to wait in a queue for anything. We will be returning next January.
First time to PVT
Went for a few days with my sister. This was our first time to this side of Mexico. Overall it was a good time and we would go back. The good: hotel is one of the newest in PVT. The rooms were clean and modern and the AC worked great. The minibar was stocked daily. The hotel has 3 restaurants, a buffet, snack bar, sports bar and a coffee bar as well as 3 other bars. The food at the Mexican and Italian restaurants was good and they rotate the menu every other day. We didn't try the seafood restaurant. The snack bar had hamburger, hotdogs, nachos and pizza. The bartenders were generous with the pours and I saw Bacardi and Jack among the options. The bad: the beach, while sand, is small and steep and the waves were big. The buffet was missing traditional meat options for breakfast, no bacon or ham. Also on the buffet if you were dining with kids there wasn't much for them, one spot for French fries and chicken bites. It is about 30 minutes from the airport and not much for a tween or teenager to do.If they would add French fries and chili at the snack bar it would be a homerun with the kids. The views were awesome and other than a wedding, noise wasn't an issue.
Great resort and service
I had a great experience at the Grand Park Royal in Puerto Vallarta. The staff were extremely respectful and did everything within your best interest. Food was great, I recommend the seafood restaurant over the international buffet and both specialty restaurants were great. I only tell people to keep in mind that most staff and guests are Spanish speaking, pretty easy to get by speaking only English though.
Great hotel and location
We stayed at the Grand Park Royal for 1 week , it was a wonderful stay . You are a short 15 min bus ride for 10 pesos to get into downtown PV , or a taxi if you so wish. The bus stop is just outside the hotel and you can also catch the bus to go to Mismaloya or Boca. The hotel is a small hotel which was very clean the rooms were amazing , large , mini fridge stocked daily for free , one free room service daily as well , the food always showed up quickly and delicious. The views are amazing , we spotted turtles and whales from our deck. The waves dependent on the weather can be large or small, but enjoyable to listen to ..( listen is why we wanted ocean front , otherwise we would of stayed in PV if we didn’t want to listen to the waves) . The food was always fresh and there was always lots to choose from. The coffee and dessert bar was great ! The snack bar at the bar was a regular pool snack bar with hamburgers, hot dogs and nachos and cheese.everything being cooked fresh . All the eating areas were confined under glass wall , this was great to keep the food clean and away from flies. It did seem that the pool lounge chairs did get covered with towels regularly , we are not pool people so it did not bother us. There were many other spots around the hotel to watch the ocean ,( including the balcony in the room). We found all the employees at the hotel very friendly and helpful, from Hector the bell boy to Izzy at the front desk , all very helpful. If you want a smaller hotel with a location away from the hustle and bustle of PV but close enough to get into PV very easily this is it.
