Amazing resort, lovely rooms and pool but .....
I am currently staying here and whilst the resort and staff are amazing, the rooms large and well equipped, the restaurants great and the pools superb it is very clear that we are neither VIPs or Members. I had to ask five times for my patio door to be mended and although after explaining that I like an afternoon nap and being promised a morning room service, this has not happened and my nap is again forgone if I want dry towels and more water. The hotel is now hosting members and since this started our service has been affected. All my complaints are falling on deaf ears. Maybe next time in Mexico I will be looking to book into a different resort. Such a shame because this really is a stunning resort.
Grand is the word!
fantastic holiday in a beautiful setting, so close to nature it was just wonderful. Bug spray was very much needed but was expected giving the position of the hotel, really felt like we were in paradise!
Upon arrival after checking in you will be harassed to buy a timeshare. Also, we were advised that there was a balance on our account. We prepaid online and had to prove it. We reserved the private bungalow along the water. We were overwhelmed with the smell of mold and the room looked like someone took a bucket of white paint and tried to cover the fact that the room was worn out. The doors, walls, and cabinets had splashes of paint on them. We took pictures. There were dried stickers on the furniture. It looked like a room you would pay $69 in a bad neighborhood. We went back to the front desk and spoke to Carlos. He stated there was no manager available. Instead he sent a maintenance crew out and they agreed that they could repaint much off the room. We had to call to the front desk and explain that we did not want to sleep in a room under construction that smelled of paint. The workers did scrape all the stickers off and apologized for the room. At first we were advised there were no more bungalows available. This was a lie. After some pressure they were able to find a unit four doors down. This was better. Be advised the bungalows are not as advertised. Not worth the money. The pools are nice, beach was great, food was average, the management spends all money on the grounds, pool, and lobby.
Half decent holiday
Got to white sands and checked in quite quickly On the way to the hotel we where given a note from TUI stating to be cautious about stomach bugs (Don’t drink the water) (Ensure hot food is piping hot) So first night off to the buffet Food not very warm Ah well first night Next morning down to breakfast for opening time first you see someone who wants your room number( bit odd as we have wrist bands) Next shown to a table (person no 2) Then someone comes for drinks order (Person no3) Person no4 brings coffee Off to get food 7am again Luke warm restaurant only just opened First night to ribs and more only to find restaurant closed Over the 2 weeks main buffet at colonial closed at least 5 times Both steak restaurants closed at least twice Colonial buffet breakfast deemed full even though only half the tables being used (Glass walls all the way round ) Can only guess they where under staffed as one morning it took 15 minutes to bring the coffee that you have to order In the advert for the hotel it states 14 restaurants I guess it means 14 restaurants but not necessarily open restaurants Aside from the fact that I should not eat food unless piping hot and the restaurants not being open all the time the staff where great Not sure if this was mis-fortune or the standard
An amazing stay
Everything about the hotel was absolutely perfect. The Junior Suites were spacious, comfortable and kept immaculately clean. The food and service really made the holiday; Florencino in the Portofina restaurant and the girls in the La Dalia, deserve a special shout out for excellence. During our stay we visited all of the restaurants and enjoyed them all, though the favourites were definitely Chang Thai and Sumptuori. The pool and beach were lovely (though while we were there, there was a slight seaweed issue - but seaweed is to be expected when you visit the seaside). We also went on the snorkling with turtles trip that runs from the beach and had an amazing time, my only issue with it was the number of people on the trip. And, on the subject of animals, the hotel grounds are wonderful kept and very diverse in terms of nature. All in all, we had an amazing holiday and would have zero hesitation in visiting again!
