Amazing Resort and Service
We had never been to Mexico before but given our experience at White Sand we cannot wait to return. My wife and I went with our two teenagers and enjoyed it all from start to finish. It is a large resort with effectively four parts to it. You might think it would be very busy but it was almost full and unlike many places we have been before there were ample sunbeds and plenty of space. No need to get towels out early, just turn up, bliss. The food and the many restaurants are all great with a fantastic buffet. I would particularly like to say thank you to Omar who is the Assistant Director of Catering as he was marvelous. He was always cheerful and so helpful to us with regard to the restaurants, thanks Omar. Merli served us many times in the Buffet with water and drinks and was lovely to us too. A special mention also to Eduardo in Ribs and More where his service was fantastic. My daughter is allergic to nuts, shellfish and kiwi fruit and it is always a little stressful going to a new country. I would say this hotel is the best we have ever experienced as she was given cards denoting her allergies and at each restaurant we were asked if anyone had any allergies, without fail and she has met many chefs who take personal care of her food. Eric the Chef at Ribs and More and I have regrettably forgotten the name of the Chef at Poseidon were great. In Collonial Alex at the bar was very chatty and it was great to speak with him and he was very helpful We had a junior suite in 5932 and 5931 which were meticulously looked after by Pedro and they were very well appointed. It was great having connecting rooms which the hotel sorted out for us. White Sand is a lovely pool and relatively quiet whereas Collonial is a little more busy and right on the beach. The children went kyaking, paddle boarding and snorkling. The sea is very warm as are the pools and there are lots of staff regularly keeping everywhere clean and tidy. Lots of activities to join in. Our son unfortunately got an ear infection and there is an onsite Dr 24 hours who was really great and dealt with this brilliantly for him. We loved the holiday and would definitely recommend it and I would love to go back but will also look further afield at any other Grand Palladium hotels. Great sports facilities but we didn't find enough time to use them all. The Spa is also lovely and very tranquil.
I have been on a lot of holidays in a lot of country's, I have a daughter who is gluten free and I find it hard to get good food, at white sands the chief would take her round all the food and show her what she could eat, even in the restaurant they would cook her gluten free food this was exceptional service from all the staff, 5stars from me.
Stunning Hotel but terrible sargassum (seaweed)
The hotel rooms are wonderful. Very large and very clean. Food is okay but lots of waiting around and adult nights so kids are ruled out. Beach was full of revolting Sargassum (brown seaweed). This was piled high every day and the smell was repulsive. We chose to stay around the pool. The second week started a week long planned maintenance of the pool area. There were angle grinders and tile cutters which were so noisy and the dust was ridiculous. Pieces of tiling were flying around and going into the pool. It ruined the second week. I complained to the management a few times and they said it would stop soon but it lasted all week. They said that as it was the quiet season the work was being done at this time. We paid peak prices. Travelled last August. I would have gone back this year but it ruined the holiday and no compensation was offered. Staff were lovely and worked very hard.
Excellent hotel amazing food and service, will certainly be returning A**
This hotel was amazing... we had the use of 4 hotels ours The White Sands was the quieter which we loved but you could go along 5-10 min walk to a busier hotel. The food was some of the best I have ever had, the sushi being my fave. The beach was a bit disappointing not the tropical beach I was expecting but it got better as you walked along it. I would 100% recommend this hotel and will return
We spent 2 weeks at the Grand Palladium White Sand Resort and loved everything about it. The staff were so friendly and made us feel so welcome. We had such great meals from the fantastic buffet breakfast and lunches to all the a la carte restaurants . Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. The resort is kept immaculate and clean. The gardens are beautiful and pool area stunning. We had 2 junior suites that were spacious and very comfortable and loved the attention to detail such as the lovely coffee machine and mini bar that was all restocked daily. This was our first time to Mexico and GPWS and would definitely recommend it for anyone wanting a relaxing, indulgent holiday. Thank you very much to all the staff there, we would love to return!
