Very disappointing stay - resort too big to care about you little self
We stayed at Gran Palladium Punta Cana (not Bavaro - which actually looks better). We had 4 rooms and not one room did not have a problem when we checked-in. No air con, bad smell... they fixed two rooms and we had to change rooms for the other two. This is not the kind of arrival you want to experience when landing in Punta Cana after a long flight. Especially under the hot and humid weather we had. Food: breakfast - you have to queue to enter the restaurant and it is very noisy (79 to 81db). Food is average. We even had cereals which were expired! Evening: waiting time is anywhere between 30 to 90min for all restaurant. Ridiculous system. Cannot book for a specific time. You have to go and wait. Food is very very average. Had lobsters in two restaurants and none of the restaurants cooked them properly (lobsters for 9 people - all were over cooked, dry, rock solid meat - sad). We ate lunch first day at the Sport Bar. We had to wait 45min for our food and when it came, French fries and onion rings were cold. How can you serve simple French fries and onion rings cold?! Better restaurants (and still average): Lola and Paisana (good meat - don’t take lobsters). Japanese: pleasant crew but average food (over cooked lobsters, insipid fries rice). Beach: sargass algae landed in the beach the last 3 days. We saw a tractor passing to collect the sargass... elsewhere. The sargass were still on our beach of the Gran Palladium Punta Cana when we left. Not nice. Service: poor. Looks like no one really cares. There is just too many clients for them to care. One positive remark is for the exceptional attention and service of just 1 person only for the whole stay: Marlene. Thank you Marlene for your efforts to make up for the problems we encountered during our stay. Your patience and your commitment to make our stay as good as possible was noted and sincerely very much appreciated.
11th Year Wedding Anniversary
We were skeptical of safety due to the many reports of mysterious deaths in the Dominican Republic that have been reported in the media. The cleanliness of the property and the outstanding treatment of all that we encountered was AWESOME! We actually left the resort for three activities that were organized by their staff. We rented speed boats, partied on an island, toured the countryside on ATV, swam in a beautiful cave and even took a private shuttle to Hard Rock to gamble. At no time did we ever feel unsafe while on this vacation. Grand Palladium did not disappoint us and everything was absolutely amazing!
Great treat for a young couple
Even if we are a young couple, the Grand Palladium Punta Cana Resort was an excellent choice. It has a resort only for adults with its dedicated pool. At first we were a bit skeptical about the trip since it was an unknown culture for us. But rest be assured the staff at the resort is more than respectful and very well trained. Outside the resort it does not seem that safe. The room was clean and the restaurants were all clean. The staff at the restaurants is just excellent, smiling and pleasant. Also since a median salary is between $100-200 / month, we decided to tip waitresses and the room service guy, the door guy, and the room cleaning ladies. And a good idea if you have all-inclusive, you can buy a drink for the people who are working in direct sun, you will make their day :) If you are willing to make excursions and you should, I would advise to book from the lobby, not from the beach vendors, these vendors sell you the same locations as others but the transportation and your time towards your destination will be a bit “different”. The beach is just beautiful, white sands and great ocean breeze all day long. We will recommend this resort as our stay was pleasant.
