One Week Stay at Grand Palladium Kantenah Mexico
After having carefully read all the reviews we decided to book a weeks holiday at the Grand Palladium resort for our first trip to Mexico. This would be our first visit to the Yucatan and out fourth trip to the Caribbean. We traveled as a family of five and are mainly attracted to the Caribbean for the stunning beaches and snorkeling but equally we enjoy a good all inclusive hotel in order that we don`t have to worry about anything whilst we are there. We were not disappointed, the resort is huge, luxurious and well maintained! Everything from the freshwater ponds that surround the restaurant and lobby areas to the modern architecture, grounds and lush surroundings was excellent! This even topped our stay in Grand Cayman. There is so much choice of food and the glass paneled restaurant area is flooded with light unlike other hotels we have stayed at where the eating area felt gloomy and enclosed. The beach is one of the best in the area and is stunning with shallow clear waters and numerous palms. It is very well maintained and cleaned daily! There is a beach bar virtually on the beach with live bands at lunch time, buffet and a bar. A really enjoyable holiday and our only regret is that we didn`t stay for longer. We cant wait to return and shall plan a stay for two weeks next time.
We ended up booking here after the fall of TC so wasn't initially our 1st choice, however we had the most amazing time. All 3 lobbies on the complex follow a similar theme but have their own individual features. With TRS the adults only hotel, showing a real touch of class if you want an up market 5☆ feel but we loved Kantanah and that complex. Our room was great. Clean, and stocks replenished daily. We were at the height of the tree canopy and had the wildlife visiting regularly. The staff never stopped smiling and couldn't do enough. The restaurants are plentiful with a variety of food choices. We had to try all of them and had our own personal favourites to include Chiang Thai, Ribs and more and The Mexican. The buffets had more variety than anyone person could dream of getting through and my only comment is the food continues to be luke warm but huge in range of choice and the staff work tirelessly, they're the most happiest people I've ever met. All the bars have branded and locally branded drinks and the staff will create any cocktail you request. The beach and sea are amazing...yes there can be seaweed and yes there can be coral that gets brought into shore however that's down to how the weather turns the tide and in our experience only happened 3 times in our 14 night stay. It's part of the coral reef so if you're unsure I just suggest purchasing some water shoes but it didn't prevent us swimming at all. You can snorkel, take out kayaks, pedal boats and sail which was amazing being so close to the reef. The Poisidon is right on the sea front and is a fish restaurant. For us we loved every minute from the walkways to the golf buggy and train lifts, the resident koi, flamingo and crocs, through to the wildlife (remember you're in the jungle so there are insects that might make their way into your room...embrace where you are I say) Thank you to all the staff some we got to know better than others but from us in the UK to all at the grand palladium we truly had a magical time and we Will be back.....sooner than later. Hotel was ok, stayed in better stayed in worse. Rooms were ok, view not particularly good, bed sheets dated and the general standard of the room was dated. However it was fine for us. Same for the rest if the hotel really, bit dated, still it was fine for us. We did enjoy our time here. Hotel is set in the jungle along the coast line, pretty much the same as all the hotels here. Nothing within walking distance. Animals around the hotel were great to watch. Food was ok, we liked the Thai restaurant the most. pool was ok, bit dirty in areas at times. Stuff in the shops at the hotel was mega expensive so make sure you bring everything with you. If you decide to do a tour I recommend a private one, they generally only work out marginally more expensive but better experience. Went to Coba (1 hour each way) and Chichen itzu ( 2 hours each way) on private tours and these were our best days. Glad we went, wouldn't return again.
We are staying at the Kantenah rooms are very dark, dull badly in need of updating Room smelled very damp on arrival and second day infested by flies. No view at all from the balcony just jungle no sun and very poorly keep can’t use very disappointing please see pictures of out beautiful view Just been told by one of the travel clubs reps that this hotel is the cheapest of the hotels to stop in just paid 4000 pounds cheap???! Rooms are not five star wouldn’t even give them one star rating, Told me I should of upgraded to the travel club
Lovely stay for a friend's wedding
Had a great time here. If you love cats, you're in for a treat because there are a bunch of friendly ones around the main resort area. Very friendly staff at the reception, bars, restaurants and the caddies. Great experience and would definitely be back given the chance.
