Look for a decent resort
Let me start off by saying that we are not complaining people and have gone on 13 tropical vacations and not had an issue until this one. My Wife and I went to Now Emerald in Cancun Dec 3 to celebrate our Anniversary. I am waiting for ankle surgery on both ankles so have severe mobility issues. By reading the reviews, I was worried about the comments on stairs, I brought it to our travel agents attention, he checked and was told there wasn’t many stairs. Upon arrival we found stairs everywhere, there was only one pool that had a ramp to it, elevator from the lobby to room and everywhere else was stairs. There were at least 5 sets of stairs to get to the beach which is the area that is very important to us. The food was not good and was cold, the best thing we had to eat there was soup. We checked with the Transat rep Ruben who had told us if we had any issues to come to him and he would look after it so we did go to him on the second day and he said he would try to get us moved. He took us to the concierge who was very rude and did not care and said they would not move us. I contacted our travel agent who was very upset with what had happened and said he would work on getting us moved. They wouldn’t do a thing for him either and just wasted his time. When we checked in it went very well but when we asked how to book for ala Cartes we were told to talk to the lady behind us, her name was Lulu. It turned out that her focus was to get us to see another resort and it was obvious that she was trying to sell time shares. When we told her we were not interested in a time share she kept saying it wasn’t. She said to take the information with us and maybe tomorrow we would be interested, after that she would not speak to us and never did give us any information about the resort. When we got to the room, the smell of oil base paint would knock you over, we were moved to another room that still had the smell but not as bad. One morning we went for breakfast and came back and there was a mouse turd on our bed, either we had a mouse in our room or was brought in with the bedding and we slept in it all night. The wait Staff were all wonderful but Management people did not care as long as they had the money. We talked with another person, his name was Luis who gave us all the information about the resort and was surprised that Lulu had not and was very good. Then he asked the next day if everything was good and we told him of our issues and after that he would turn his head and not speak to us. Miguel and Cesar were wonderful at the buffet and we asked for their section all the time. They were a lot of fun and should be working at a better resort, way too good to be working there. It was first advertised as a new resort but then found out the Now chain had taken it over and we’re renovating, it is a disgrace to the chain and will not do much for their name, we will never go to another one. By the third day we just wanted to come home but we were there for two weeks. It would have been different if we had not inquired into the stair issue but we were lied to and could not enjoy the holiday because of the stairs and mobility issue. They admitted that the food was cold but never did fix the problem. We both got sick and still had issues when we got home, if food isn’t kept up to temperature it can be very serious
Shout out to lucas, night waiter,israel the sushi bar waiter for remembering my allergies and both were attentive to my needs. Jorge in activities made the day more exciting Franciso, the carnival boss, was awesome and always found a desert i could have. I think our housekeeper, louis franciso did a super job. Ty for making my 25 year anniversary special.

This was the 2nd time in 3 months that we stayed at the Now Emerald and it did not disappoint! We enjoyed in October when it initially opened but the improvements that were made are fabulous! The service is the best I have had at any other resort we have stayed at!! A huge shoutout to Alex the beach concierge, he is absolutely wonderful! The beach is spectacular and the food is great! My only complaint that I had in October was there were no music or shows in the evening. Now there is something every night! Look forward to returning soon!
Israel Lopez is awesome at sushi bar he is speedy Gonzales. Yolanda silvano is the kindest girl in all of the world.
Service at Sushi Bar was excellent. Israel Lopezis awesome made our lunch sushi fun everyday. Service at pool was excellent Yolando Silvano was so kind and welcoming made our trip special. Hotel needs to improve shower stall.
30th birthday trip
Went here for a birthday trip to get away from the cold! It was amazing the staff was always making sure you were informed and having a good time! James, Miguel, and Cesar were just a select few that made our trip so much better! They always had us smiling or laughing! Overall it was an amazing trip! Thank you to the staff for making it an unforgettable birthday!!!!
