Quality of room so so with detail of finishes not the greatest (the pullout couch in our room was broken meaning one of our daughters had to sleep on the couch. Hotel waived the junk resort fee. We also had mold growing in the shower head in the bathroom which hotel immediately replaced but should not have had to). Fitness equipment in gym also needed replacing (both spin bikes broken as was rowing machine). Restaurant food was very good though and decent chef although ambiance in back of restaurant a bit soulless. Staff nice and well located for Volcano National Park (not much to see in Hilo itself)
Decent Hotel, Poor Location
This hotel was okay for what it was. If you absolutely need to stay in Hilo near the airport, I would recommend staying here. However, if you are on the Big Island for vacation or if you are touring around, my experience was that there are much nicer places to stay on the Kona side of the island.
Glad I picked this venue to stay at
I selected this hotel since it was Hilton brand and knew what to expect. I booked through Hawaiian Airlines. The room was fantastic. Great view. The only dislike I had was it was an adjoining room and apparently my next door guest fell asleep with the TV on all night. Other than that the room spotless. Hats off to 4th floor housekeeping. BTW: rooms are new renovated. Staff 👍👍. Valet 👍👍 Yes. I would stay again. Lot’s to do if you have kids. Snorkeling, pool, kayaking. Be sure you inquire about Banyan Drive and take the time to walk it. Walk Coconut Island.
Probably the nicest hotel on Hilo Bay
Very nice stay.; great location on this side of the Big Island. Only complaint was a persistent lingering smell of urine in the bathroom when we first arrived and that subsequent visits from housekeeping did not remove. Expected more from DoubleTree. still a very nice hotel and good value.
Great Location - Helpful Staff. Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel location is convenient and only about fifteen minutes from the Hilo airport. The rooms were clean, staff was helpful and there were plenty of food options within an easy 5-10 minute drive from the hotel.
