Greening Your Life: Part of the Apple Vacations Greening Your Life initiative, this property uses 100% of its green waste for compost and also sends wet waste from kitchens to pig farmers for feed, which helps to reduce landfill waste considerably. Waste cooking oil is collected and processed into biodiesel fuel, while the 4,000 sq. foot on-site hydroponics farm supplies the resort's restaurants and events with approximately 120lbs. of fresh produce per week.
Landscaping is tended to with biological pest controls over harsh chemical options.
The property also utilizes heat produced by the air-conditioning system by converting the output into heat water for guestrooms and swimming pools. On top of that, nearly 60,000 sq. ft. of grass-covered roofing helps to reduce cooling needs. Guests can also enjoy cashmere-soft robes, which are made from 100% recycled bottles.

10th Wedding Anniversary
We recently celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary on Kauai. So pleased with our photos from Pacific Dream Photography! Jared was extremely helpful in arranging our session. Our photographer, Kendall, was a joy to be around. He was pleasant, calming, and captured the beautiful Kauai skyline perfectly. Definitely far exceeded our expectations! Thank you for helping us capture this special moment in our lives!
Chamber of Commerce prize package
Won the Chamber of Commerce prize. Excellent room, amenities, food service at restaurants Ilima Terrace & Dondero’s. Anara Spa Craig Sadamitsu was excellent masseur & services there outstanding. All in all a great 2 day stay.
Best Staycation on Kauai!
Always a joy to stay here! Incredible resort with wonderful staff. Just what we needed to get away from reality. I would recommend for families and couples. There is something for everyone. I know we will be back!
Our family stayed here in August, 2019, and had an excellent time. We had a ground floor room just above the adult pool and it was terrific. Rooms on the upper floors are more expensive due to the views, but we loved being able to walk right out to the pool (yes, we have kids, but it was easy to bypass the adult pool and head over to the lazy river or wherever). The room itself was large and comfortable, although we didn’t spend a whole lot of time in it. The pool area is just mind-blowing, with many spots to sit, the lazy river (which is really more of a long narrow pool as the current is pretty much imperceptible), the waterslide, multiple hot tubs, and the saltwater “lagoon.” I never saw any lifeguards on duty, so if you’ve got little ones you’re going to want to keep an eye on them yourself. Beach access is easy, but it’s not a great swimming beach. You’re a long walk or short drive from Poipu beach, though, which is nice for swimming. Not awesome snorkeling; my memory tells me this was a much better snorkeling locale 10-15 years ago. My only complaint is that there’s a lack of casual dining in the evening. The restaurants looked great, but we didn’t feel like doing a night of expensive fine dining with two kids in tow. The only other option was the Seaview Terrace, which is a beautiful locale, but has a pretty short menu and is set up more as a lounge with sofas and deep chairs that make eating somewhat awkward. We wound up either going off the resort or getting groceries and doing our own thing for dinner. Service was friendly and attentive. Nice amenities abound: a couple water bottles in the room to use during your stay, a handy tote bag, and tables in the hallways that let you set stuff down while you are opening the door to your room (why don’t all hotels have these?!). Oh, and you can cast to your TV from your phone if you go to the channel guide and select HDMI 1. We stumbled on this and thought it was a nice bonus. Bottom line, this is a great place to stay on Kauai. We were there six nights and were not ready to leave at the end!
A great family hotel
We stayed for 4 days here and enjoyed every minute of it. The staff seemed to go out of their way to make sure we had a good time and were properly taken care of. We were upgraded upon arrival to a king and queen room, and that made a huge positive difference. We were given water bottles at check in and there are multiple water coolers throughout the property to keep them full. I’d suggest bringing extras from home if traveling with kids. The food is very expensive because Hawaii - we ate many breakfasts at the coffee shop in the lobby to help with reducing the bill. However, the quality of food is very high, making the cost a bit more acceptable. The lazy river and the water slide were definite hits, and the salt water lagoon was good for kids. Be aware, the adjoining beach, Shipwreck Beach, is incredibly rough and not really suited for smaller kids and tweens. Five minutes down the road is Poipu beach which is great for families and for snorkeling. The area is rocky though so wear water shoes. This is an enormous property so be ready to do some walking. Anything you might take to the beach or pool - coolers, floats, chairs, etc need to be extremely portable. Check out Da Crack Mexican food down past Poipu beach - go north at the roundabout near the drug store and it’s on the left. Close enough to grab dinner and bring it back to the Hyatt if you need a break from hotel food. On a 14 day trip to three different islands, the Grand Hyatt was our favorite hotel!
