Lovely holiday 2019
Just returned from a fortnight holiday in the tulum had a really lovely holiday nice and relaxing. Before we went read lot of reviews that complained about seaweed some days it was bad but it didn't take the men long to remove it, felt sorry for them it was endless job working 10 hrs a day in that heat. Our group took them our drinks from fridge every day and they really appreciated them. I'd advise any one to do the same.
Book it!! And book it again!!
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff here. Everyone is so helpful. We experienced no rudeness at all. Food was great as was the drinks. My children would like to return everyday. The buggys ran frequently and where we were staying there was a bar where the buggy stop was so it was no bother waiting for one. We went to coba to the waterslides once. Didnt really rate it so didnt go again apart from when dining at the al a carte resturant which i recall being the mediteranean? Cant remember. Don pablo is not to be missed. We experienced the wrestling event which the kids really enjoyed. We did a few excursions such as swimming with turtles and the cenotes, we went to dolphina and swam with the dolphins, we took the kids to sences which i thought was brilliant for the money. My partner booked to do the whale sharks but after it had been cancelled 4 times due to rough seas he gave up. He was gutted. We would really like to return as we were made to feel very welcome. Little touches such as mini bar, robes and slippers were delightful. We were blessed to experience a thunderstorm.... wow! It lasted about 10 mins but never seen anything like it. Well worth travelling half way around the world for xx
DISABLED GUESTS BEWARE!
This was my first time in Mexico and I'm a woman whose in a wheelchair. The rooms need updated, the food was okay and the entertainment was good. The waiters were fabulous and really enjoyed what they were doing, even if it wasn't for much money. Be sure to tip them, housekeeping and anyone else who helps you out. This resort shows photos that look like the beach is nice and flat but that is FAR from the truth! You have to actually go down a steep hill to get to the beach and if you do, you'll find lots of seaweed waiting for you. This is far from any type of paradise. The resort was not accommodating to those of us, who are in a wheelchair. At the buffets, the food was much higher, so I couldn't see what was in the pans above me, nor would any of the chefs offer to assist me either. I'm a very independent woman and can take care of myself but some things are out of my control. I needed help getting from point A to B at the resort. The drivers were horrible. I sat in 90 degree weather waiting to be picked-up at one of their stops but 8 different carts went right by me. I even flagged two of them down but was told to wait. I had already waited almost 25 minutes and couldn't stand the heat any longer. I needed to get to a nearby resort that we had access to where my friends were, so I ended up pushing myself almost 2 miles down the road to where they were. I was so upset and mad when I got there, so I went straight to the manager at the other resort to let him know what happened to me. He apologized and assured me that it would never happen again. He even drove me back to my resort when I was done. That night we went down the street to do a little shopping for souvenirs. When we wanted to return the driver pulled up and I asked if he had room? He said "Yes" but continued to sit in his seat as he watched myself and a friend trying to get on with my wheelchair. He wouldn't even get up and help! Luckily another guest saw what was happening jumped off to help us. Then on my last day when I was leaving, I called the front desk 45 minutes prior to my departure for help with my suitcase but no one would come. I was running out of time, so I tried to push myself while pulling my suitcase up an incline. Someone saw me and came to help. I was very worried that I would miss my ride to the airport. When I got there, the driver was waiting, so I got into the van (once again without any help) while he loaded my chair & suitcase. About two minutes later, the driver told me to get out because he had to leave. The manager was supposed to come down and get my key but didn't show up. I asked him to please wait just 5 minutes and if he could give me my chair. There were other employees just standing around but not one of them would offer to help me. I again had to pushed myself up a steep incline to the lobby to see what the problem was, only to be told by the manager that the driver had now left. I told the manager that this all could have been avoided had they came and got my bags when I called because I did called 45 minute early. He said that I would need to get a taxi now to the airport for $80, he was not willing to help me cover the cost or anything. I asked him if this is how Mexico treats Disabled Guests because this doesn't happen in the U.S. I told him that I would be filing a complaint with the resort and the travel agency. After getting into the cab as we drove away, I was horrified because I realized that I was by myself and anything could happen to me at this point. Luckily, the cab driver took me straight to the airport. I would NEVER stay at this resort OR any others associated with it. If you're disabled, contact the resort ahead of time to see what kind of accommodations that they can provide you and search online for reviews related to handicap accommodations by other guests.
Summer vacation 2019
This hotel is great!! I emailed the hotel the week before we left to request our 4 rooms close to each other and also to book our al la cartes to ensure we could get reservations for our group of 10. They responded immediately and all requests were accommodated. I also informed them that we had a Birthday Girl with us - when we got to our rooms, her door had been decorated, balloons and cake were waiting for her! Our check in was so easy, we booked with Air Canada and received a private check in area - everyone was helpful and so friendly. The food was great - I ate so much fresh guacamole - so delicious!! It’s true that the buffet does have the same stuff but there are so many options to choose from that you could eat something different every day (if you aren’t picky). There are so many places to eat that we never experienced any lines. The servers are so nice and fun - Israel was very funny! We enjoyed our three al la carte - we did Portofino, Grand Tortuga and Japanese. Unfortunately the Japanese was under renovation so we didn’t get a cooking table but dinner was still delicious! The servers made our birthday girl feel special. Everyone that works at this resort is nice - you never walk by them without getting a “hello”. The “uber” (our nickname for the trolley’s) were great - always one available to take you where you needed to go. We had two families ages 11,16,18 and adult - everyone enjoyed themselves. The beach staff were outstanding - working so hard to keep the seaweed out of the swimming area. They worked non stop at this. The beach is beautiful - watch your toes on the rocks though ;). We never had an issue getting seats on the beach. We didn’t spend too much time in the pool - our kids did...it was great too! The shows at night were a lot of fun too. Overall a great trip - great value for the money we paid! Thanks for making our trip a happy one!
