Great facility and staff
My wife and I were there for the third week in May, and we’d highly recommend a stay there. Staff were consistently friendly and helpful. Very clean, beautiful facilities including the grounds, pools, beach, and the room which was a little dated but was always clean, complimentary fridge drinks well stocked daily, and comfortable with an outside lanai. Large facility but really easy to get around on their tram service. Once we forgot our room keys and once needed help getting into the room safe and all we had to do was contact the Concierge through their guest web app and both times help came within 5 minutes! Two restaurant nights we selected for ala carte meals were at the Santa Fe and the Garden and both were good! Buffet had a large variety, the vegetables and fruits were fresh, the quality was one of the better buffets I’ve seen . While you were never made to feel obligated to tip, we tipped $10 per day for the maid service, $1 per drink, and $15 for the ala carte meal for a couple - if you haven’t been to DR before, US dollars are as good as the DR peso at the resorts. They make an excellent mojito in the lobby bar!!! And I’ll say one more time, the staff were consistently helpful and friendly!!!
Do not visit Ocean Blue and sands
We had the best service, food and entertainment. So much to do and eat and drink. Compared to ocean blue and sands, there were no timeshare people selling you properties. The beach had no vendors trying to sell stuff. Very secure and staff was extremely helpful. We been to other places in punta Cana and this is our favorite. WARNING: ocean blue and sands suck!! It’s cheaper, yes but you will regret it. Try palladium, princess and even hard rock are 100% better.
My wife and I went on our honeymoon with a couple that were friends of ours for 6 days, 5 nights. I had requested a ground floor or somewhere with an elevator as I can barely use stairs. We got there and put us on he 2nd floor stating they had no ground floor rooms available even for disabled people. They were doing major construction work on the main restaurants in our area so we had to eat buffet style or make reservations at other restaurants in the resort. The buffet was same food for all breakfast, lunch and dinners besides being on the other side of the resort from us. The real issue with the buffet is many things were not labeled. There was a dozen items on most of the food tables with only one serving utensil for all the items. My wife and our friends have food allergies. During our stay we went through 6 EpiPens total. Could not get anything done about it through the management. What they dont tell you about the restaurants is they leave at least half the tables open for the VIP memberships to seat at any time. If you dont have the membership, which from my take is at least $6,000 a year, you need to make reservations in the main hall. The issues with this is that you can't get any dinner reservations before 10pm for your entire stay if you're lucky. On the 3rd day of our stay I was walking down to the pool, when I feel down the marble stairs because they were mopping them but only had signs on the bottom hallway, not to mention no handrails or grip tape. They said I sprained my ankle and all I got was a nice dinner reservation, which was the only decent meal the entire stay. My wife and I ended up having to eat chips for the majority of our stay because of the buffets improper food handling and our allergies. The beach was atrocious. Dirty with litter and seaweed. The ropes off area for swimming was dirty enough you couldn't see the bottom a few inches from the shore because they have power boats and jet skis going back and forth just 40 ft from the shore. Beyond 60 ft from shore its crystal clear. Our bed was harder than a piece of plywood, after asking about a bed topper they put a blanket under the sheets. I ended up having to try and sleep in the chairs or the bath tub. Our fridge was never below room temperature even after complaining every day they would not replace it or fix it, our friends was ice cold and frosting the sodas. Over all it was a horrible waste of money. My wife went on a free trip to a sandals with her sister, and it was leaps and bounds beyond this place. I'd advise you to try them. I've complained to everyone I could hold of in Hope's of them.covering my medical expenses for sprained ankle, back injuries from.falling down the stairs and for the EpiPens that were used and never got anywhere. We were sent an automated survey after our trip, which would never open.
Been here for the second time this year in January. The staff are absolutely amazing, always happy and with a wonderful attitude (in special Alberto from the pool bar) The food is really good and a lot of variety.
Almost a five
Stayed here in May, and enjoyed myself. NEGATIVES: Check-in to slow (bad luck maybe). The lighting in the rooms need improving, Mini - bar stocked up every other day and the mini-bar itself is small and doesn't get very cold, The Daiquiri bar can take time to get served in the evenings (probably due to the fact that the bartenders need a break as they are on the go from 10am), the cleaners can be a noisy bunch in the morning (rowing amongst themselves).....er thats it. POSITIVES: The grounds are immaculate once past the gates...they work hard to keep this up. The buffet food was excellent. could not fault the choices available. This brings me to the a-la -cartes.. I done all 6 and in descending order of quality. Japenese (do the show cooking if you can), Meditterean (very good), Italian, Mexican (4th but still good), Garden Grill (a disappointment) and finally the Ola barbecue (this was not down to the food but because the restaurant is on decking, anyone that walks past your table causes your body to shake while you are trying to eat). Service in ALL these restaurants were very good. The waiters deserve credit. In fact all of the staff deserve credit. Santa and Alexandra down at the beach bar and the other people we met like Bily, Miguel, Jose, Merlin, Blandinho, Suly oh there is loads I can mention which reflects the hospitality of the people. It was also nice to see the general manager making appearances here and there. He deserves credit for obviously running a tight ship.
