    Great Resort

    Was our second time to DR, first time to Punta Cana. The resort was very well laid out and the grounds were kept in top condition. The staff were very friendly and my wife and I got to know some. The buffet and A La Carte restaurants were amazing, no complaints on food availability and selection. Not many guests realize the work the staff put in for 3 buffets a day. Service was good at the main buffet and beach side buffet. Beach and pool areas were great and could always get a spot at either anytime of the day. I appalled the staff and management for their hard work maintaining the resort and making my wife's and I vacation one to remember. We will defiantly return back to this resort.     Stayed at this hotel for 5 days and it was perfect. Staff is amazing and very attentive, food was delicious, and the check in/check out process was smooth, easy, and very quick. They accommodate you with all your needs as best they can! Amazing place to stay with kids or if your just getting away with your significant other. I definitely recommend the Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana! I will absolutely be coming back!!

    Let Down by Staff/Management

    I’ll start off by explaining the hotel layout as it isn’t clearly explained anywhere (until you’re already there). The resort has 7 hotels onsite, 1 economy, 2 standard and 4 premium. This hotel makes up 1 of the 2 standard hotels whereas you share each other’s pools and restaurants and the entertainment stage. The rooms stretch from the beach, about half a mile inwards to the main “hub” (reception, restaurants etc). There are frequent golf buggy’s which ferry you to and from the beach every 5 minutes, very useful if you’re not a big walker, otherwise it’s a 10 minute walk from the “hub” to the beach. The grounds and gardens are lovely, spacious and well kept and with 3 pools to choose from, it never felt crowded and there are always plenty of free sun beds throughout the day. The room was nice and spacious with aircon, fan, whirlpool bath and mini fridge. The main show starts at 9pm and lasts roughly 45 minutes then people usually clear to the onsite village for late night entertainment (bands etc). There are 6 a-la carte restaurant, you’re allowed to book 3 per week (we were there for 10 nights so could book 5) and they were all fantastic (food and service). There is a small village in the middle of the resort with an entertainment area, shops and 24 hour doctor. There is also a shop in the hotel lobby that sells cigars, limited selection of medicine, alcohol and toys etc. The not so nice stuff... After staying at a neighbouring hotel 3 times in the past, we chose a different hotel as we love the country but wanted a new experience for our honeymoon. I found myself quite often comparing to our previous visits due to small but significant letdowns (by staff) The buffet restaurant is (to be frank), terrible. It’s the same food for breakfast, lunch and dinner every night, towards the end of the holiday I was bored of everything on offer. Additionally, the waiters/waitresses are absolutely useless with drinks service. I found myself having to ask multiple times for a glass of water and god forbid, a soft drink with my meal. Same with breakfast, very rarely did a waiter pro actively offer me coffee or my wife tea, we always had to ask (usually in the manner of holding my hand up like a school child in the vain hope a waiter looks at my desperate attempt for a drink). The rooms were cleaned every day (great), but quite often I found that the bottled water in our fridge had not been replenished, it wouldn’t be a big deal if reception gave out water (like other nearby hotels) but they insist that only housekeeping can supply water and I frequently had to wait hours for someone to eventually come and give me just 1x 2L bottle of water. The maid also asked me for a tip because she had a couple of days off, something which didn’t bode well with me at all, a tip is earned for exceptional service, not by barely doing your job correctly. Lastly, because of the layout of the hotel(s), the beach gets rathercrowded. The resort is 2 hotels wide but there are 7 hotels using that area so if you’re arriving at the beach after 10am, there will be very limited sun beds available, a short walk down the beach (approx 500m) and its a lot quieter but I presume the beds in that area is owned by a different hotel. Also, there is a constant stream of looky looky men, if you make eye contact with them they’ll be on you like a bad rash. Gets rather annoying but not a lot that can be done about it. The beach in front of the hotel however, does have a small bar there (all inclusive) and there is always a lifeguard on duty. The pool bars are advertised as being open from 10am to 5:30pm, every day they shut up shop just after 5pm. Overall, the hotel itself is lovely and grand but the staff massively let it down. We had a nice time but there was a lot of frustration and felt quite underwhelmed with the experience, mainly to do with the staff. Would I return here? No.

    You get what you pay for

    We stayed for a week in November. We booked the Royal Garden and had a room very close to the beach. The bed was not comfortable at all, the AC didn't work to well and neither did the fan in our room. We had an upgraded mini bar but it was only restocked once during the whole week. The food at this resort was pretty good. The resort was huge and required the use of shuttles. They had several shuttles and you never had to wait long. The pool's and beach are very loud and its hard to relax. It did not seem like the pools were the cleanest, as around all the edges you could see a black film. At night the entertainment was plentiful and service was excellent for getting a drink. At night there is several bugs out and I got eaten like crazy and they left large marks on my arms and legs, this effected most of the people in my group. Take deet bug spray. An individual in my party noticed a guy robing rooms with several key cards in hand and he was sending kids into the rooms. They detained him and called the front desk - they did not care. They then called the police 3 times who hung up on them and also did not care. Ultimately they had to let him go because the police and resort didn't care. The individual was actually wearing the resort workers clothes, so maybe it was an inside job?

    Getaway vacation

    We had a wonderful time. We will definitely come again 😊 Thanks to the wonderful staff. Thank you especially to Esterbin for the wonderful service and good stay. We will see you again. The room was great, located right by the pool, centrally located within walking distance of everything. Good food, drinks, music, shows and friendly staff. Wonderful experience!
