    The perfect care-free vacation

We were having a wonderful time in grand bahia principe la romana. The minute we stepped out of our airport shuttle, we were welcomed and pampered by the friendly staff. They really did everything to make our vacation as care-free and relaxing as possible, being attentive to our needs without being pushy. The resort is well maintained and clean, some things are a bit dated, but nothing major. There are a lot of activities like kayaking or volleyball. The hotel offers excursions at a reasonable price. We however decided to just enjoy the lovely beach. Important for us was that is was clean. The food was okay - buffet-style with a lot of variety although sometimes a bit greasy. There are also 3 restaurants on the premises where you can order a la carte - the menu is decent. We would certainly like to return to this resort.

    Amazing Vacation!

My husband and I had a wonderful time at the resort. Check in - easy and quick. We used the online check-in before we came so we had no problems at all and were taken right to our room. Room - perfect! Big, bright, clean and comfortable. No problems with water pressure. Refrigerator was consistently stocked. I asked for all diet drinks and they were happy to switch them out for me. Air conditioning was comfortable and easy to adjust. Grounds - so beautiful! Clean. So much landscaping I have no idea how they keep up on it all. Every morning there were gardeners tending to the grounds. Photo ops everywhere. Restaurants - we only made 1 reservation at the Italian restaurant. The food was good. Wonderful deserts. We ate mostly at the buffet and beach buffet which was stocked with many choices every day. The buffet restaurant it's self was very nice and clean. Bars - the pool bar was quick and the staff really nice. Shout out to Darwin, he made sure we were taken care of. One day a popular song came on and the entire bar staff dances, clanked bottles, flipped cups and entertained everyone at the bar. Lobby bar - amazing drinks. Shout out to Jesus for making the perfect White Russian every night. We sat at the lobby almost every night before the shows and played cards, waitresses were very attentive and quick. So relaxing. Beach and pool- not clear waters because of the rivers near by but clean beach with no seaweed. Warm water. We took a walk every day past the Beach Club. Always felt safe. The pool was Huge! Clean and maintained every morning. Always easy to find a place to sit at any time of the day both on the beach and at the pool. In fact, there were beach cabanas in the non smoking section by the beach restaurant that were vacant every day. I do understand that people like to reserve their spots early in the morning but it is very few. I walked down at 7:30 and saw about 8 chairs reserved. Walked down again at 9 and only about 12 chairs reserved. Compared to the hundreds of available chairs I'd say that's nothing to complaint about. Entertainment and activities - Loved to entertainment staff! So nice and work so hard to make sure everyone is having a good time all day and night. Disco was fun. Shows were very well choreographed. Most of the entertainment staff speak at least 3 languages so very easy to follow along. We used the kayaks on the beach with no wait. We also booked an excursion through the resort (in the lobby) to Catalina island and Altos de Chavon for cheaper than our travel company offered. If you want to see crystal clear water and snorkel this is your place! I missed our pictures that were taken from our trip and available for purchase but that's my fault. Bahia Village - cute shopping district. Prices for alcohol and souvenirs were reasonable. Thursday nights the vendors come to the Lobby to sell their items as well. I will 100% recommend this resort to my friends and family and look forward to checking out the other Bahia resorts in the future.

    Not up to expectations

This was our fourth trip to the Dominican and thought we would try the Caribbean side, instead of Punta Cana so went to la Romana. To be honest wish we had returned to what we knew, although the ocean was much calmer wasn’t too impressed with much else. The hotel was quite dark and dismal all dark wood, especially the rooms, could not go In without turning the lights on, even then the shades were dark and couldn’t see much , usually bright and airy but not here, also big gaps round the doors mosquitoes were frequent visitors. We also found that the staff were not over friendly, saying that have to mention a couple in the restaurant Euripides and Clemente couldn’t do enough for us ,also Jhovanny on the pool bar, Jasmeiry that served our drinks in reception bar and Reymi On reception very helpful. One other mention probably goes unnoticed but Vincenta keeps the toilet by the pool very clean, maybe one or two more but on the whole not very friendly at all, not a lot of hellos, good morning etc. Also have to say they should net the umbrellas on the beach and by the pool, I know they have to nest but the bird poo is totally unhealthy , piles in the morning and constant pooing all day, NASTY !!!! Also WiFi absolutely abysmal only works standing in reception unless you pay !! All in all give me Sensatori or Riu any day, friendly always helps.

    Summer vacation

Excellent resort. The food is outstanding. The beach front room quite an amazing experience. The staff went the extra mile to please all guests and they are always willing to help. The beach had some small rocks in some areas. The entertainment lacks music at night between dinner and the shows. Tge tours are very well designed, the Safari was great. We would recommend this resort.

Excellent customer service but far out

Went with my young family, for mine and my sons 1st birthday. We were shown to our room but it was unsuitable for my family. There was not cot, two single beds and the shower was cold. We informed reception, who stored it out but moving us to a suitable room. The room was very clean, good size and overlooking the beautiful pool. The pool area was very clean and large. People grabbed the sunbeds early morning. So make sure you had our Walt to the pool and beach if you want a nice spot. The beach was very clean, no seaweeds. The entertainment staff were amazing. Did everything to make sure we had a great time. The even help celebrate my sons birthday. The kids club working hard to make sure the kids had a good time. The food was ok. It was very repetitive, Very average. But the choice of alcohol and mocktails was brilliant. The hotel is far out from the centre and there is nothing to do outside the hotel walls. Would have like to be able to go out for a walk and see the area. But you couldn’t really do that. To go out to punta Cana was very expensive in a taxi. Apart from location we had a fantastic time. I would recommend for a relaxing holiday.
