Always an amazing experience
This is our 7th time at the resort. I have been taking my kids for 10 years and they are now in their 20's. We have tried a few different resorts and this is the one we always came back to. As younger children they always had an amazing time and this time was no different. My son even lost his cell phone and it was recovered the next day! When we made the report, the staff helped us look in the rooms but it was not to be found but the next day someone turned it in and they came and found us and it was returned. It was a brand new iPhone XR so the honesty of the employees is amazing. There is a lot of talk about the food . . . the food is buffet unless you make reservations at Marco Polo of Sia. Both "reservation" places have really good food. While he buffet style does get a little repetitive, there is always something for everyone in our group. We had 8 people this year and no one ever went hungry. The bartenders, Eduardo and Abram, took excellent care of us every day. Most of the time we never had to wait for anything to drink. They saw us coming or getting low and they just brought us a fresh drink. The beer selection is Modelo or Corona but it is fresh and cold. Other drinks are prepared right in front of you and not watered downed, in my opinion. They really seem to have a passion for the turtles too! We were able to release baby sea turtles every single night we were there (early August). Finally, the entertainment staff ROCKS. When we first started going, my son was 9 and daughter 11. Some of the same staff is still there and remember my kids every single year. When they were younger, my kids loved hanging out with them and now that they are older, they love going out with them at night. The entertainment staff is what makes this place amazing. Always engaging, always polite and they even gave us hugs when we left. Fernando, Ingrid, Jona, Ruben, Lalo, Orfa, Yayo and Itzel truly made us feel like family. I will say, that we are members for the past three years. The entire staff is amazing and very helpful. If you are looking for a smaller, fun and family friendly resort, this place is a great one. We have made some amazing friends here over the year, mainly because the staff is so great at getting people together. We always look forward to "returning home" to the GR Solaris. It is not the fanciest place in Cancun but I can say they truly make us feel like family. One last note . . . there is a lot of talk of people selling stuff on the beach. The resort has not control over that at all. it is federal "land". All you have to do is say "no thank you" and they leave. It has happened at every resort I have been at in the past 10 years and being polite and declining is all you need to do.
M wife lost her bulova watch worth of $300. She used to wear it everyday and also leaves it on the desk everyday at the same location. That happened after one day we went downstairs and left the card on the door for the cleaning crew to clean the room. And the next day she was looking for the watch and could not find it. We reported the incident to the front desk. Two people came to the room to check with us and they could not find anything. They made a report and they said they will got back to us. My wife also showed a picture of her wearing the watch. They never got back to us until Friday the 9th and they knew that we were leaving the hotel on Saturday, Aug 10. It is like they were looking at us as though we were lying about it That was very unfair. We wanted to speak with the hotel manager. They sad that he was in a meeting and to come back in the afternoon. He was no where to be reached. We did not get any call from him or any apologies. I knew it was on of the cleaners who stole it because they cleaned the room everyday. Th way they handled the situation was very unprofessional. There was no sincere apology for the loss. That was really stupid and unfair.I gave them my number and email to get back to us. The worst about that was that they waited last minute to tell us to file a police report to continue with the investigation, if necessary. People should not be stealing other's properties. I do not appreciate that experience at this hotel at all. I will not recommend this hotel because of the way they handled the incident.
Home Away From Home
The resort is clean, safe, staff friendly and helpful as a regular guest I am welcomed with hugs, welcome home, and exceptional service. The entertainment staff are gracious, hard working, always put on exceptional shows. They keep the guests pumped up at the pool. The food is very good and plentiful. The housekeeping staff do an outstanding job keeping the inside and outside immaculate .The beachfront is clean and only steps from the resort .The pools are clean, the staff at the Pool bar do a fantastic job. The waiters and bartenders are attentive. The spa provides full/exceptional service.
Best resort ever!
I’ve been coming here for years and the entertainment staff cannot be compared. They are absolutely amazing. I love that they have activities throughout the day and it’s inclusive of everyone, little kids, teenagers, and adults. The team made up of Lalo, Ruben, Yayo, Fernando, Orfa, Itzel, and Ingrid are just so fun to be around. The dancing, the fun is incomparable. At the end of the days acitivities, Lalo Fernando Yayo and Ruben dance and everyone joins in. I definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. Come here if you want to enjoy your time off!
Ugh...Don't waste your Money
No idea how this resort was rated so high....and here is why....(July 26-31 stay) -There was no acknowledgement when entering the resort...might sound petty but we are used to at least a hello. -Bars didn't open until 11am. -Adult pool had no music and no bar. -Champagne was no where to be found when requested and only Corona and Modelo for beer selections -Construction throughout the hotel (elevators out of order, doors blocked off, big wooden box constructed during prime pool hours so they could jackhammer) -Food was bland..very bland -Never once at one of the buffets did a server come over to get us drinks or give us silverware...we helped ourselves each time. -All restaurants were buffet style except Zai and Marco Polo. You have to make a reservation 24 hours in advance to even eat there. (and to be honest the food seemed to have been taken from a buffet and put on a plate for presentation) -Gym facility was not cleaned daily -Public restrooms always backed up -If you are looking for entertainment in the evening you will be disappointed. Not much going on here. -Chairs on our balcony were so gross we didn't want to sit in them. -The room was cleaned consistently but the one day they put a filthy pillow case on. The constant smell of bleach was in the hallways. It took our breath away. -Air conditioning was inconsistent. ***I would never waste my money on this place again*** The only positive things to mention are these: -Massage was good on the beach/poolside -Saul in the front was a great hotel agent -The bus downtown is only $2 each way...we went there to eat twice so we could have a nice meal
