Wonderfull located hotel
We stayed in Gamboa for several days during our vacation in Panama in July. The staff was really amazing, doing their best to make our stay as pleasant as possible – with succes. The hotel has everything we needed but the service was a bit slow when ordering in the Monkey Bar and the pool Bar. Due to low season only one restaurant was open, but it had buffet with various selection and a’ la carte as well. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very pleasant and the staff was amazing people. The rooms we had was great with a hammock at the balcony, - very nice after a good hike. The area is wonderful with good hiking tracks, and good guided tours. We will absolute recommend a stay at Gamboa Rainforest Resort, as it fulfill the need for relaxing as well as experiences in the rainforest.
It is a gorgeous place worth checking out!
My mom and I stayed at the hotel Gamboa for a day in August, 2019. The place itself has a majestic feel to it. You may notice in little details that the place has an age of many years. However, it's still kept clean and very attractive by various services they offer. Our room was spacious with two queen beds. I liked our balcony with a hamaka. What got me to choose the place was the activities that are available there. We went to see their butterfly centre "Mariposarium", sloths rescue centre, poisonous frogs, local night life animals, and the boat tour on the Gatun Lake. Mariposarium was my favourite place where I spent over an hour and could've stayed longer if given more time. What surprised us at the hotel was the restaurant and their buffet. The breakfast buffet is full of varieties and is at reasonable prices. The best part of our experience there was having Panamanian typical Sancocho at our dinner. The soup was absolutely delicious- the best one we have tried in Panama city! We called for the chef to thank him. He came out and was very happy to hear our comments and mentioned we could even order items that were not on the menu. Unfortunately, I cannot remember his name :(, I only remember he is a tall Chinese man. We truly enjoyed our stay there.
Gamboa Rainforest Reserve
When my family entered the lobby of the resort we were impressed by the view of the Changres River and the picturesque swimming pool through the ultra large windows at the back of the lobby. Our rooms were large and comfortable and the bathroom was huge. The large hammock on the veranda was very relaxing. The resort grounds were adorned with plants and flowers. Especially enjoyable were the nightly tram rides to view owls, sloths and alligators. However, the main restaurant was overpriced and the food at the bar was only okay. Overall though this was a very good experience.
First time in Panama
This was my first trip to Panama. I stayed at the Gamboa Rainforest Resort for 2 nights and 3 days. (Wednesday – Friday in October) When they say “this resort is in the middle of the rainforest, they really mean it” It was a good 30-45min drive from the airport. Before you enter the area, you must pass security. This mad me feel safe staying here. I arrived around 12:30pm and wanted to check inn and was told a room wasn’t available till 2pm. (It was a Wednesday and the resort was dead, tons of rooms but no one but workers at the resort) The view from the bar area was breathtaking. It was so relaxing and just peaceful. I walked around the resort and it was a ghost town. No one anywhere. (only workers cleaning) the resort is nice and a little outdated. Needs a little fixing up but overall it was good. I finally checked inn and went to my room and it was a really good size room and overall satisficing. The bed was nice and comfy, the bathroom was very big and my favorite part was the hammock in my balcony overseeing the rainforest. I laid in it and was amazing. The down side to this resort is they have NOTHING around it. I mean NOTHING. They only had 2 restaurants to eat at (food was not worth the price), 1 bar and it had this old building smell to it. It forces you to do the different activities they offer (extra money) but all the actives did not live up to any of the prices. I did the Sloth sanctuary, free walking tour, cable cart, free night tour and water boat. I was beyond bored after the first day. NOTHING TO DO! I mean if your coming here just to relax and do nothing, then I highly recommend it. **Positives** - Swimming pools were gorgeous - View was amazing - I got a full body 60min massage and it was great ($85) - Gym - Free night tour - Free Wifi (thank the Lord) - Bell person Edward was amazing. Very helpful and friendly. **Negatives** - Food was not good (bring your own, not much to choose from here) - No night life what so ever - They had a old game area for kids - Gift shop had nothing in it
One of the most magical places I have been.
The hotel staff is super friendly the infrastructure is very good prime hotel excellent service delicious food but that is not the best the biodiversity of the area of Gamboa is amazing I have seen many different animals like bird's mammals insects reptiles and many other things like this beautiful flowers the cultural part of the Gamboa natural reserve is just delightful provided by the indigenous tribe Embera you have to see it on your own eyes the way they carve the wood the different seeds from many trees is wonderful and beautiful I was very impressed by the quality and the skills of themselves. Definitely is a place to visit if you come to Panamá can't missed out.
