THIS HOTEL IS STILL CLOSED (SINCE AUG 2017 HURRICANE)
Hotel is not scheduled to re-open til 2020 after devastation from Hurricane Irma in Aug 2017. Just wanted to make clear any reviews below for stays since early 2019 are for the Marriott Frenchman's Reef next door (timeshare - we own there), which re-opened then. Didn't want to the zing the ratings of the hotel - it was beautiful before.
Marriott St Thomas US Virgin islands
What can I say it's actually a resort it's supposed to be going past so if you decide you would like to go into town you have to take a cab or rent a car. What I did enjoy was the ferry was adjacent to the hotel which allows you to travel to St John's the sister islands St the beach was very nice and it's actually has it on beach. Keep in mind bring some money because the restaurant is quite expensive breakfast for 1 year by $20 a person overall wonderful experience I will come back p
Spectacular View from a Dated Resort
Well this is not much different then the other reviews. The beach and location were wonderful, we rented a car and stayed in morning star. Driving on the wrong side of the road wasn't bad, remembering to look right was interesting. If you are looking for any kind of luxury or Marriott quality this isn't it. Doors are delaminating, cleanliness was lacking, the 96 step to the buffet breakfast was anticlimactic, the food was fair but the condition of the room was sad. Stained ceiling tiles, leaking ceiling, carpet worn to the mat and tables that needed lots of attention to level out. The highlight at breakfast was the staff, truly the best crew at the resort. The pools were spotless and grounds keeping on point. Enjoyed the beach, the view and the ease of parking our rental vehicle at no cost, you have to go off property to enjoy St. Thomas.
Great Resort Hotel (For Pilots Too)
Stayed here on a 5 day flight layover. It is kinda of a crazy drive from the airport, but once on the property, this place will relax even the tightly wound individual. The front desk staff are extra cordial, the bell staff all smiles and personality, the rooms are quiet and comfortable, the bed is firm, the pool is relaxing, the poolbar and bartenders make the afternoons a happening place, the beach is wonderful. That pretty much sums up the Marriott in a nutshell. Got to explore St Thomas, but always enjoyed returning to the resort. Would love to go back to Frenchman's Reef on my own dime sometime!
My husband and I made it down here as guests of my sister in law who is an owner (vacation rental). What an amazing time! We met incredible staff who were so helpful. Paul and Natalie at the Adventure Center were awesome and extremely helpful. Benedicta in the Sunset Grill was sweet, helpful and an amazing server. Always greeting us with a smile even if we weren't going to be eating. D'nai (forgive me if I spelled that wrong) in the activity center was helpful and awesome also. She ran a great game of trivia at the bar one night. If you get to check this place out do it!
