The First Review I've Ever Written
I'm not a big reviewer. I feel that there are enough people out there talking about their experiences online. However, after my recent stay at Fairmont Orchid, I felt compelled to write about it. I was incredibly impressed with this hotel/resort. Background, I traveled with my wife and two kids (age 3 and 6). The grounds are beautiful, clean and very well maintained. The staff blew my mind. From the bartenders to the waiters to the room cleaners and everyone in between... all were extremely friendly and outgoing. They all made us feel so welcome. The beach cove is perfect for adults and children. The pool is huge and never felt crowded. This place is family friendly but doesn't feel like their are kids running the show. It was truly relaxing and quiet. There are so many food choices and an awesome little coffee shop for waking up early and taking a beach walk. The rooms were wonderful and modern and I had a partial view, which was actually a pretty epic view of both volcano and ocean. No complaints. So many good things to say. I've never had a better family vacation. My kids loved the place. One final note, it's a big resort that didn't feel big. I think that's a testament to the people who work here combined with the very cool layout. Oh yeah, the beach bar, too! I will definitely be coming back.
The Fairmont Orchid was a gorgeous resort with exceptional service. We were immediately greeted by resort staff and given necklaces and showed to the desk. Our room was ready right away, and they offered to take our bags and escort us to the room. They have valet for a fee and optional parking free of charge. The staff was very hospitable and helpful with allergies. If necessary, they would remake pastries already made and make them fresh to avoid cross-contamination. The waiters that were walking around were dressed formally, and they were great at getting drinks and getting your food within a reasonable amount of time. The resort offered gear for watersports and pool toys; some had a fee. But this is an excellent resort overall.
Okay property, tons of people, warm gross swimming pools, ocean view means golf course view, but a nice staff though
The Fairmont is the more affordable option in the area but not for us. The staff was friendly at the Fairmont, but the facility is dirty, and the carpet is gross. The workout room is currently being renovated (which is a good thing), but we love to work out, and it is in a windowless, smelly old ballroom. The swimming pools are gross, and the ocean view room is a view of the golf course with the ocean in the far background. We accidentally left a dress in the closet as we aborted the mission and moved to a different property. I called the Fairmont maybe one hour after we left, and they said the dress was not in the closet. The dress was 100% left in the closet! Unfortunately, the dress was borrowed for a wedding, and we had to buy another dress in a frantic state. I have left things in hotel closets before, and this is not the first time that the closet items have gone missing. My mistake, but it is a bummer. Most prosperities, however, do not steal your clothes. Oh, I woke up to people having sex next door as the walls are thin!!! The Fairmont is not as bad as I am making it sound, but it is not for me.
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. The grounds were gorgeous, housekeeping was excellent( thank you to Khole!) the lagoon and pool area were great. However, we were less than impressed with the food options- it’s not close to much- and the food options were limited, over priced- and-except for the sushi restaurant- we were not overly impressed with the quality. We expected more particularly for the price point. We didn’t find the front desk to be overly friendly or helpful either, especially around activities. It would have been nice to know when booking or checking in about thanksgiving activities, unfortunately, by the time we heard about them they were already all booked. As I mentioned, it was our honeymoon, which a very nice lady took note of when I was booking, when we checked in, the front desk didn’t know. What we got was a congratulatory letter with two free mai tais and “happy anniversary” crossed out and “happy honeymoon” written in. Uhhh ok. I don’t mean to be petty, but that’s the kind of detail that makes it hard for the hotel to rise to the level of aloha rather than strictly transactional.
This resort is beautiful. We stayed in a garden room on the ground floor. The room was great with turn down service at night. The restaurants on the grounds are excellent. It was so lovely we decided to extend our vacation for an extra week. The beach at the resort has excellent snorkeling & a reserve for turtles. There is a grocery store less than a mile from the resort for snacks & amenities for our room. The pool & hot tub are wonderful. 5 stars😁
