The Hawaiian Canoe Experience teaches guests Hawaiian traditions while offering a fun adventure. Participants learn the basics of paddling, as well as the history of the canoe and its importance to Hawaiian heritage. Used by native Hawaiians to cross the rough channels between the islands, the outrigger canoe was built out of koa and other hard native woods. Not only an instrument of fishing and sustenance gathering, the outrigger became the long distance means by which Hawaiians, and the greater Polynesian society projected both settlements and conquests. The Hawaiian Canoe Experience fills up quickly and advanced reservations are required.
However you choose to spend your time, be sure to open your mind and your heart to the Hawaiian culture. Hawaiians believe that we need to be conscious and grateful of all the things around us: our health, our family, and nature. The incredible culture is based on the fundamental principles of love, support, hospitality, and giving without the expectation of receiving.

Fabulous time at this amazing resort!
We booked this resort because they offered suites and because we love Nicks Fishmarket. I am so glad we did! From checkin to the clean comfortable rooms to the beautiful lobby, our time here was just perfect. The suite had a mini fridge stocked with bottled water and a microwave. Our package included the breakfast buffet which offered a great selection including gluten free pastries. We went to the beach and pool every day and there were always fresh towels and plenty of lounge chairs. Our kids really enjoyed the slide and had a great time at kids club. Husband and son had a chance to experience the outrigger canoe which they said was super fun. We had yummy cocktails at the bar with Dave who’s been working at Nick's for over 20 years! We went to the Kaanapali side for a week after several nights here but wished we had just stayed put and never moved. Even our 5 year old kept asking when could he go back to the last hotel because he loved the slide so much. Thank you to everyone for making our stay so much fun!
Wonderful, again :)
This was our second stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani and it was wonderful! Last time it was just the two of us, this time we brought our kids. They loved the pools and waterslide!!! We had an amazing ocean view room and loved sitting out on the balcony. Take advantage of the concierge staff to help with your stay- they were so lovely, kind and helpful- shout out to Bryson!!!
Family vacation in paradise
Picked this hotel for its location in Wailea. A suite was ideal size for our family of 2 adults and 2 young. Really good size bathroom - twin washbasins, separate shower, bath tub, wc kids. Nice sized balcony with a good ocean view. Twice a day house keeping- always made the kids sofa baed without having to be reminded Adequate complimentary water bottles Even though the hotel was quite full, never felt crowded. Sprawling grounds , nice choice of on site restaurants - excellent buffet breakfast The On site Gourmet store/deli was very useful - kids loved the pizza and ice creams - well stocked with drinks and snacks Kids loved the pool - sufficient number of loungers and attentive pool side staff Good selection of restaurants around the hotel and their courtesy car service was helpful Kids had a very good time at the kids club - they fell in love with Ms Bonnie Lovely Polo Beach as you walk down from the pool side - my kids had a blast in the waves . lovely clear water. Again attentive beach staff - get a complimentary lounger and umbrella We walked around the board walk to the other Wailea hotels and in my opinion this hotel had the best beach hands down. Lovely sun rise and sun set views My only regret was that we were unable to get a seat on the complimentary outrigger sail - apparently its booked out weeks in advance If this hotel fits in your price budget - its a no brainer - go for it! My sincere thanks to all the staff - gave us a memorable vacation!
Best hotel and staff
First time in this part of Maui and this hotel made it the greatest experience. My family had an enjoyable stay at this hotel. Food was excellent and staff was superb! Our hotel room had a gorgeous view of the ocean and was minutes away from a walk on the private beach. We loved every minute of our stay! Highly recommend for families.
Love, love, love this resort!
We loved the Fairmont!! We had a 3 bedroom villa for our family and had plenty of room. We had the breakfast package and their breakfast buffet was great. Lots of variety and very good. We used the beach every day and had 4 chairs and umbrellas every day. The staff were very helpful in every area of the resort. Our villa had a patio with grill, table and chairs, chaise lounge, umbrella and small pool which we used a lot in the afternoon when it got to hot to stay on the beach. I really can't say enough good about this resort. We had family pictures taken by Pacific Dream Photography. The photographer was great, bantered with us and got a bunch of really good shots. Their staff who helped us narrow down our images were great to work with and they have been right on top of responding to our needs.
