The Hawaiian Canoe Experience teaches guests Hawaiian traditions while offering a fun adventure. Participants learn the basics of paddling, as well as the history of the canoe and its importance to Hawaiian heritage. Used by native Hawaiians to cross the rough channels between the islands, the outrigger canoe was built out of koa and other hard native woods. Not only an instrument of fishing and sustenance gathering, the outrigger became the long distance means by which Hawaiians, and the greater Polynesian society projected both settlements and conquests. The Hawaiian Canoe Experience fills up quickly and advanced reservations are required.
However you choose to spend your time, be sure to open your mind and your heart to the Hawaiian culture. Hawaiians believe that we need to be conscious and grateful of all the things around us: our health, our family, and nature. The incredible culture is based on the fundamental principles of love, support, hospitality, and giving without the expectation of receiving.

BEST time in paradise
We stayed at Fairmont Kea Lani in Jan 2019 with best friend’s family. We have kids younger than 4 and having an access to the beach and big pools were very appealing to us. Well, Fairmont didn’t disappoint us for sure. Room was very spacious (hard to find a room over 700 sf in Wailea) and the view from the room was just superb. We had breakfast buffet every morning and it was sooo good. Pools were amazing of course. We’ve visited both lower and upper pools and hot tubs. We only passed by adult only pool and it looked so quiet and peaceful. Beach was amazing. Staffs were very kind and easy to talk to. We would definitely come back next time.
It’s our first stay at the Fairmont in Wailea. We paid extra bucks for an upgraded tdeluxe ocean view room (503). A breathtaking ocean view. The room is spacious but poor design, not functional. Cleanliness could have been better, dusting should be done at the bottom of TV cabinet in the bedroom. The hotel sent to our room a complementary bottle of champagne for our 30th wedding anniversary. Usually at other high end hotels we stayed, Champagne paired with some chocolate or fruits. None here. which i find a bit tacky. It’s our first night here. Will seeif if the remainder of our stay is more impressive. Currently it’s not. The surrounding area is very “resort” exclusive. Not much to do. Will check out the beach and breakfast buffet in the morning. We Love the resort staff - super friendly and helpful!
I only have good things to say about this property. I went with my husband on a 3 day trip with no kids. Alex did great in setting us up prior to our arrival. The second we stepped into the Hotel, we were welcomed by Petey, who also was an excellent guide of the property. We were checked in by Tara who provided excellent service and great check in and check out experiences (we were lucky to also have her at check out!). At Ko we were served by Robert, thank you for the outstanding service! We also crossed paths with Noe, Bree and at the beach with the manager (sorry I never got his name. But thank you for being so helpful with all the indications & helpful snorkeling tips!). And last but not least a big, big, big thank you to our housekeeper Juliet. Her attention to detail and costumer service are excellent! Thank you Fairmont for such an amazing first trip to Hawaii. We will be back (although this time with the kids!). Alicia
Maui’s Best Family Resort
We have stayed at The Kea Lani many times over the last 25 years. This is by far the best family value on Maui. I have recommended this property to numerous families and business colleagues. I have always received excellent reviews and big MAHALO’S after friends and colleagues stayed here. Not the lowest price but by far the BEST VALUE!!
Wonderful time at an amazing property
Fairmont Kea Lani was simply amazing for my wife and I. We were warmly greeted by Tara at the front desk and orientated to the property by Petey. Both did an amazing job of making us feel at home immediately upon arrival. Robert in KO and Noe in AMA offered great service at the restaurants. Juliet, our housekeeper, was around constantly but without intrusion to ensure we had everything in our room that we needed. Alex Knight helped us throughout our stay. We cannot wait to return!
