    Completely Disappointing Response by Management

    I will start by saying we always loved the El San Juan, the lobby is a snapshot of a past era when you could enjoy a good cocktail, music and dancing all in a place that was comfortable and opulent at the same time. You just don’t see this type of detail and architecture anymore. With that said, the rooms are no version of their lobby, the room itself is nice, useful and comfortable, the entry is small and almost cramped, the bathroom was that of a child’s it was barely operable as an adult. You have to maneuver yourself to open the shower door and get in and close it. When we arrived, since we are a Hilton Gold Member, we asked for an upgrade, I am hoping for them that this was not an upgrade as that would be a sad day for the Hilton brand. Our view was of a dirty roof strewn with debris and construction material. With a glimpse of the ocean. I received a text from the hotel asking how everything was, I will not get into all the details, we were only there for 4 days I had 7 texts and a phone call, all they would offer is a move on our last day to a better room. By this time, we are unpacked and why pack up and re-pack for less than 24 hours? We had met a housekeeper and a maintenance person by the elevator on our first day and they asked about our stay, we just said all was good but if they could fix one of the entry lights that was out and the other was hanging out of the ceiling we would appreciate that. We were told it would be taken care of and it never was. It would have been appropriate to also make us aware of the construction noise that would vibrate the hotel in the morning and the hammering. When we are leaving we stop at the desk to check out, we get the statement and we told the clerk that we pre-paid through American express so the room charge should not be on there, she then told us we did not prepay, my wife pulled up the statement on her phone, showed her the charge, took a screen shot and sent it to her. She was on the phone this whole time trying to get a manager, she had it on speaker and called numerous extensions, no one was available. We had to leave for the airport she called later, and it was taken care of, and it was pre-paid, she apologized, and we were off. I then get a survey which ai was happy to fill out and when I completed it I received and e-mail with a standard form letter that said they have notified the appropriate departments etc. This only infuriated me more. We were in Majorca Spain and were treated like royalty being a gold member, I am not sure the El San Juan Hotel understands the meaning of a loyalty program. I have yet to be satisfied, I will not stay or recommend this Hotel, we go to San Juan every cpl. years, we have stayed at this hotel before and it was exceptional, either the management has changed, or standards have. Most of their staff is exceptional, Mara at the desk was great, the bartenders, the pool staff, bellman and so on are the best, again you would think the rest would match when a hotel claims to be part of the Hilton Curio Collection. Again, it is difficult to say this but we will not be back to stay.

    Imponent like the old days!!!

    El San Juan is back in business like the old days. The staff is extremely friendly in all aspects of our stay. It has the best location and beach in Puerto Rico. The pool area is magnificent and the cabañas are Vegas style. The food including room service has a wonderful selection.

    Fantastic Place - Great Service

    Was here a full week on business. My room was not ready upon check-in. After waiting in lobby for a bit, I approached a check-in person. Her name is Cyndie. After checking status of my room and making some calls, I noticed she glanced at me and winked all the while doing something on the computer. Since my room wasn't ready yet and knowing I'd waited, she upgraded my room to a beach view (higher floor) than the original room. So appreciative of her service and great attitude! I will definitely be back. Hire more like Cyndie who understand true customer service! Well done Cyndie and thank you again!

    Loved the experience and Martin the bartender

    We had a great weekend trip for our friends wedding. Beautiful hotel, great pool and grounds, feels like paradise! Our favorite experience was nightly drinks at the poolside bar because of the bartender, Martin! Such a fun sense of humor, delicious drinks!

    Fabulous honeymoon

    AMAZING! My husband and I stayed 4 nights here. The service was outstanding and property is breathtakingly beautiful. From front desk, valet to housekeeping I’ve never experienced better service. We ate several meals onsite, slightly pricey but tasty. The bars have delicious drinks. Only thing I would change I wish pool was open later but overall no complaints.
