Stylish and Fun Hotel
I attended a business/ networking conference at the El San Hotel.... it was a very fun hotel for a conference. Loved the 1950s /60s vibe. Gorgeous pools, lively lobby in the evening, good restaurants (Meat Market Miami is great). Room was newly renovated but it had a view of a rooftop... also no outdoor space and small bathroom. Those were pretty minor issues for me and overall I liked the hotel a lot.
Outstanding location, service
This hotel is first rate, from the beautifully appointed lobby to the ocean view rooms, choice of four pools, spacious beach, and valet service. We especially appreciated the care that Angelo, the door man, took in getting us cabs and directing the drivers to our intended destination. He confirmed we were making good restaurant choices and, when asked, gave us recommendations of other favorite spots. The photo was taken from our room with a view of the pool, ocean, and fitness facilities.
This place is wayyyyy past it's prime. Your money can go lot furthe in San Juan. No need to spend it here.
All level "eh" to poor. Some staff members clearly "shady". Stay away! Drinks were fine, but the atmosphere feels boring and an undercurrent of sleaze. The food was "OK, not horrible, but no "wow" factor. Just "eh". Hope this helps.
discriminating and unprofessional
Very nice hotel but very unprofessional. After booking a 5 night vacation with a group of friends, we got falsely accused of stealing and even with evidence (cameras) proving we did no such thing, we got kicked out of the hotel. The situation was handled very unprofessionally and very embarrassing overall. Only gave us one hour to pack our things and didn’t even give us our full refund back. Managers and supervisors are very discriminating and a lot of the workers secretly sell drugs inside as an extra hustle.
Short Stay - and all good (indeed it was better than that)
Spent one night here prior to a cruise. It was an unexpected stay as we were booked into the Intercontinental Hotel next door which we found, on arrival, to be closed for renovations! (they hadn’t informed me). We arrived very late – 1030pm and asked for a room. The check-in staff were very helpful and promptly set us up with a room. It was a double room (kingsize bed) and was very spacious and comfortable. We went to the Chandelier Bar for a late night cap. The bar is spacious and has a feature chandelier and dark wood panelling – very nice. A few words for the Bar Tender “Keith” who sorted our drinks and was charming to two tired/stressed travellers. Check out was quick and efficient, and when we asked, we were informed we could make use of the hotel’s pool facilities until we had to travel to our Cruise Ship at 7pm. The pools are lovely with a bar handily placed, and a helpful pool / towel lady too. All in all a short stop, but I would recommend this hotel. It met all our needs and was exactly the standard we expected. (It was a 10/15 minute taxi ride from here to the Cruise Terminal- all good).
