We came for our honeymoon at the beginning of October. Check in was efficient and was offered a discount to upgrade our room as the hotel wasn't at full capacity. We declined this as we were happy with the room we booked. We had the beach front suite on the sensimar side. It was lovely, cleaned every day and had view of the beach. The only disappointing thing was it could have done with a few more lights in the room, it was quite dark even with all the lights on, but this didn't effect our stay. We were amazed how well the staff looked after you. Everyone said hello and were very friendly. We have particular shout outs to Alicia the bar waitress and Heriberto at the beach BBQ. Both went up and beyond to make our stay comfortable and special. I hope Alica and Heriberto see this review. We want to thank you so much, both of you are a credit to the hotel. Breakfast was amazing and plenty of choices. We ate at the Beach BBQ every day, the simple reason is, beach, coffee and food :) what a great mix! Lunch was great, again plenty of places to go to. We preferred to go to the sandwich restaurant on the beach or the beach BBBq where they served different BBQ'd meats every day. Dinner was outstanding. The restaurants where a booking is required are amazing. Our favourites were the Thai and Italian, throughly recomend those two. If you go to the Thai restaurant, try the creme brulee for dessert, you will not be disappointed. We wasn't overly impressed by the Mexican restaurant and the gourmet pub. The Mexican was a bit boring and the gourmet pub didn't have any pub food, very confusing. Another thing we wasn't impressed by was how the food was made to suit the palate of the American guests. Sweet potato mash, especially for a main, isn't supposed to have cinnamon in it! It wasn't edible with a steak. It was a few food items being overly sweet or fatty that put us off. Although it was low season when we visited, we struggled to get a sun lounger or bali bed. After the third day we discovered if wanted to get a sun longer or bali bed you had to be down on the beach by 6.30am! I wish I was joking but I'm not. The rule of if you haven't returned to your lounger/bed for an hour you would have your items removed was never enforced. Every day we saw couples struggle to find somewhere to go. What's worse, some secured a bali bed and two sun loungers whilst knowing others struggled to get even one! I would dread to think what it's like in high season. Top tips- To get a room of your preference, such as a quieter location. Email the guest relations manager 10 days before you arrive. Book trips with the guys on the beach, better value for money. The Mexican night is every Wednesday and is popular. Get there half hour before it starts to get a free table. It's not worth the extra money, the only benefit is you have a table to yourself as opposed to sharing with other guests. We enjoyed the mingling! Don't be an annoying guest and reserve all the sun loungers and bali beds. Other people are on holiday too! When you leave the pool/beach for the day, grab another set of fresh towels for the next day. This will save you waiting for your concierge to open at 9am to get one. Check out the day before to settle everything, that way you can make the most of your last day. Most importantly, enjoy your stay and tip when you feel you received great service. We gave this a 4 star, for a few comments mentioned above. And because it was described as a 368 room hotel by TUI. It's not and it's atleast double that amount. If we were to visit Mexico again, we would stay again. But then again.. the world is very big and it needs exploring. Happy travelling readers :)
I visited El Dorado Seaside Suites in Oct 2019, my 10 visit but my first time alone since the passing of my husband. I was a little worried about going by myself as this is mainly a couples resort and I knew this was going to be very emotional. As soon as I arrived I was taken care of. The staff made me feel at home and were always checking on me to make sure I was ok. They made me feel like family there and were very comforting to me during a very emotional visit. I would really like to give a very big thank you to Aldo and Moises as they were my butlers (really they made me feel like family) you were both so amazing. Also would love to thank Ana C, Artruro (who are also butlers) and Carlos (exotic membership) who also checked in on me to make sure I was ok and my stay was everything I needed for my first time back without my loving husband. Thank you all very much, I couldn't have gotten through with out all of you. See you all again in April:)
