worse visit at a hotel I have ever had

We stayed at your hotel from Jan 4-11 2020 This is the worst experience we have ever had at a hotel and I would never stay her again. Look for another hotel if you are considering this place. It started out great, we checked into a beautiful, very large room with an exceptional unobstructed view of the ocean. (4th floor). We were absolutely thrilled, for a few hours. The 2nd day the toilet stopped flushing. We had to call 3x to get someone to fix it. The 3rd day before dinner there started to be a slight sewer smell in the room. After returning to the room after dinner and being in the room for a couple of hours I started to feel very sick to my stomach and a horrible headache. This was also with the balcony doors open and bathroom door closed. When we opened the bathroom door it was a horribly strong sewer smell. By this time, it was 11 at night but the smell was so strong and I was feeling so sick I knew we could not stay in the room. Again, went to the desk to complain and was given a new room. So, the middle of the night we packed all our things and moved to a new room. This room was about ½ the size, view of a tree and roof and in a corner. The next day when we could see the room: the closet doors were broken, and we were unable to move them back and forth. We had to leave them in the middle, off the racks and reach around them for our things. The shower barely had water coming out. The cold water on the bathroom sink: sometimes worked, sometimes didn’t and when it did you could not shut it off. I got locked in the room once and could not open the door, it took me several tries to get the door open. On the balcony the chair was broken with sharp edges where the arm rest should go and a rusty nail sticking out. This toilet also stopped working and I had to go to the front desk again. (every day of our visit so far) At this time I was still feeling sick from the night before and the sewer gasses. The desk person said to come back in the morning, and she would see what she could do. Upon arrival at the desk in the AM (on our way out to an excursion) she said she would give us new room. We discussed it during our outing and decided to keep the crappy room because last time we complained we got a worse room than we originally had. We worried what we would get after complaining again. And since this room was in a corner, we did not have to listen to the kids (yes kids and a lot of them) running up and down the passageways. Also, at this point we would have packed up again, moved for 2 full days left of our visit. They did fix the toilet (2nd time). I did ask for a late check out and she said of course they would do that. On our check out date, we packed everything, went to have lunch and came back and could not get into our room because they cut access of at the normal check out time and did not set us up with a late check out. Food: The buffet was pretty much the same every day and most of the food all tasted the same. There was a person cooking something each day and breakfast was by far the best meal of the buffet. The restaurant: you need to get up early to make a reservation, which I did 4 days. The food was by far the best in the restaurant. The service: the first night we had excellent service and were given a survey to fill out and gave great reviews. The 2nd night the service was so so… not horrible but not as good as the 1st night. The 3rd night the service was terrible. The main waiter pretty much ignored us and any requests we made. We had to ask a random other person for what we wanted. The 4 night it was better again. We were never given a survey after the first visit. We did also tip (even though tips are included) Tipping on this trip did absolutely nothing in getting good service. Oscar the waiter who was in both the buffet area and restaurant was AWESOME and he was by far our favorite! Drinks: So So So disappointing. Very watered down and tasteless for the most part. What ever they are using for simple syrup or universal ‘filler’ for the drinks tasted like soap. When discussing drinks with other guests it was a common thought. We were all trying to figure out what to drink that did not have that syrup added into them. I ended up getting a glass of orange juice after breakfast, and later getting shots of tequila with lime and making my own drinks. A few of us also started ordering a special requested drink with tequila, banana and orange juice which was good and lasted the one day because the next day they would not make it anymore saying they had no bananas. They wanted to use a banana liquor which did not taste good. The beach area was OK. Plenty of covered areas and decent chairs. Snorkeling was so so… nothing special. Overall, I would NEVER stay at this hotel again. It was so disappointing to spend most of our vacation complaining about horrible sewer gasses, broken things and not the best service.

    Great Value for money

My boyfriend and I just came back from our week away and it was great value for our money. We were on the south side garden view room which is in the renovated section and I had no complaints but wasn't anything extravagant. It was on the first floor but we still had a clear view of the ocean. AC and beds were good. **If you want your towels changed you have to put them in the shower and put the plastic card with their environmental friendly statement on your bed as they are trying to be more environmentally friendly. Some people we talked to did not know/ read the card and were upset that they were not getting their sheets and towels changed. We ate at the a la carte every night and it was great and had no complaints and would highly recommend. You do have to get up around 7:30 for a reservation but we wanted to make sure we got up early anyways (you can nap on the beach later!). The breakfast in the restaurant was amazing as well and lunch at the buffet was good but you can also ask for the menu and they were more than happy to do that too. Drink of the days were great. Pools were cold. Snorkeling was amazing and water was crystal clear. Staff was extremely friendly and made us feel very welcomed. There is not too much night life so if you're coming to party this is not the place. The down town by the cruise port is beautiful and just 200 pesos (round trip). I did not feel unsafe at all throughout my time downtown. We had a great time, played mini putting, tennis, ping pong and life size chess (lots of things to entertain yourself). We really enjoyed our time here. This is not a boujie hotel but it is great for what you pay for! It was an awesome vacation.

    Nasty bed, theft

Over 15 years we have stay four times. We stayed 4 nights in October and booked two rooms. No buffet available during our stay. Very limited menu options. They are next to an overgrown area and abandoned resort you can see on satellite images. Lots of bugs, mosquitoes and little strange bees that sting were floating in the dirty pool. Jacuzzi never worked. All beds in both rooms were old. I am 49 and they gave me back pains and we were just grossed out. The tragic part is that they double charged my deposit fee on two rooms and will not correct it. They only say “deposits are not refundable”. Credit card company says it’s a mistake and not fraud so they can’t help. $345 gone! What seems like a good deal probably won’t be. I think this resort is on its way out and doesn’t care. See pictures please!

    Excellent service, good location

The place has good food selection and decent drink choices. Good snorkeling when the waves are not high. Staff is very friendly. Good choice in the reservation only restaurant but you have to make reservations early in the morning.

Nothing Fancy / Drinks Watered Down

PROS: The staff was VERY friendly and attentive. CONS: 1 restaurant and the buffet. Need to be in line before 8am each day to get a reservation for the 1 restaurant. No mini bars in the rooms. No wash clothes (need to bring your own, they don't offer them). When we did have room service they simply refolded the used hand towel. Replaced toilet paper with a 1/4 roll from another room. Drinks were VERY watered down. Ordered tequilla shots and got sprite shots. If you like night life, this wouldn't be the spot to stay - everything shuts down by 9:00 p.m. Minimal chairs around the pool caused a confrontations our first day.
