Fun place to stay
I really enjoyed the people and hospitality of this place. Always willing to help and the service was excellent. There were many fun things to do on the resort, you don't have to go out to have a fun time. The only change i would make is the food at the buffet. It was the same stuff every day. We were there for 6 days. One of those days they had a fiesta night and the food was excellent, but that was one out of 5. It really got tiring to eat the same thing....had to go into town a couple of times to get something diffrent. Bed was subpar, not the most comfortable.
We had the best time at this resort! We were worried when we saw other reviews about the food but it is exaggerated. Rooms were VERY clean and so was the entire property. Staff was incredibly nice and tended to any need. I will plan on returning in the future! great vacation !
Tired Hotel Service & Shady practices
Since checkin they didn’t had our reservation, even though I received an email with it from the reservations department. We arrived a bit early and requested a room, they said a room will be ready every half an hour, at the end it was given to us past 3 PM. Hipolito from front desk never explained hotel policies as well, so we were not able to dine on Veranda restaurant, other place to eat, quality of food is very poor, and there is very few staff to serve. Alcohol brands are very strange, I prefered to stick with lemonade, really don’t trust the brands i saw, never seen some of those before. Hotel infraestructure is really old, tired and with low quality mainteinance, the bathroom had noises almost everywhere and the phone did not work, we reported it but nobody followed up. At morning we went to Veranda to had the experience but a little more than an hour after requesting our food my 9 year old daughter told us she runned out of patience waiting that long for some waffles, we agreed and switched to the buffet. Service at the pools takes too long is always better to sit and get your stuff. Presentation of buffet lines and bars is very unhigienic, at a bar they throw whats left on the blender to the floor and prepare again, without even washing the blender. We requested late check out, Hipolito said yes, room at 1, facilities at 4, comp. At 1 all out stuff were at bell boy room. Then I came back at 4 and they charged me the late check out which Hipolito said was going to be comp. I don’t mind paying but when someone on the hotel promise something, then you expect that, normally, well not on this hotel, don’t trust no one, specially front desk, they will say anything to get you out of the way then you realize the truth. I requested to speak with a manager but same guy told me there was no one else to talk. Think twice before booking here, or more. Beach is rocky but ok and pools are fun for kids, other than that there is nothing I would recommend on this resort, some staff is friendly but they really look tired.
Great beach terrible food and bed
I will try and summarize our experience. Location - was awesome, wanted to be away from cruise people and we were but only a $5 taxi ride to town and the Ferry. Beach - was really nice, lots of mellow spots to just chill in the water, clear water, no algae, at first we had enough space on the beach in the shade but once the weekend rolled it got really busy and we had to leave early to catch a spot or be in the sun. Snorkeling - I came with way high expectation after reading reviews but since we snorkeled around the world I would say it was the least exciting spot we visited. Some fish, no coral beds, a little rocks and some concrete blocks in the water where some sea life hangs. Not exciting at all to us. Rooms - super minimal, which is fine with us, we've been to Mexico before and it seems to be all the same, nice balcony, terrible chairs outside through. We had hot water and an AC that worked well so no complains there. BUT the BED was atrocious, absolutely terrible, I'm still recovering a week later. We had complained and they provided another foam mattress to go on top of the one that was already there so it helped a little from getting stabbed at the ribs but it didn't fix the terrible dip, the pillows were awful (thankfully we travel with our own) and I wasn't able to sleep without pain. I guess we had it good too, we stayed in the new tower from what we heard the beds were even worse at the old tower and they didn't have 1 foam mattress to keep the metal away. Food - absolutely terrible as well, I don't have high standards and I was able to find something to eat everyday (well it was the same every day), but I know that I ate leftovers over the course of at least 4 days, it was the same potatoes (the same ones reheated) same meat same chicken. the birds helped themselves to the buffet as some of the glass guards were broken. it really sucked having to eat the same stuff for a week, I wish we did not book an all inclusive. Drinks - only syrup, no real fruit (except bananas), super diluted alcohol and not consistent. it tasted very different depending on where you got it from. We try to tip for each drink so they gotten a little better with the alcohol but still super cheap and full of sugar. Staff - was great and very helpful. No complains on service at all. They did a great job for us. We made the best of our stay and really enjoyed the water and weather but we will not return to this hotel unless they get new beds and new chef/ fresh food.
Positive and negative experience: Service was great at the beach and pool. Views are awesome, and the beach is wonderful for snorkeling, swimming, and hanging out under the palapas. Can't get too much of the clear blue water and fish. The food at the buffet is repetitive but you can order from the menu for lunch or get omelets for breakfast which is much better, don't know why they don't have more things such as nachos, tacos, and fajitas instead of chicken and spaghetti. The restaurant food is really good but you need to make reservations daily. These fill up quickly even though there's only 4-5 tables seated at a time. Probably a staffing issue. The staff cooked the fish that we caught on an excurtion which was awesome. The pool was terrible the first day but was cleaner the rest of our stay. Stayed away from the swim up bar and beverage station because it smelled like sewage. Our room was terrible. The bedding was scary. There was one of those egg crate type things to make it softer but no matress protector so no telling what we were sleeping on. The AC didn't work, we kept the curtains closed to keep it cooler but it didn't help. We finally got a fan on day 3 after several complaints. One morning we woke up to a leak in the hall either from the AC or someone's toilet. I also captured a scorpion after it crawled on my foot, but maybe that's to be expected in Cozumel. I would not recommend this resort to anyone until they perform some updating to the rooms and maintenance to all areas. We had five rooms total in our party and all but one had issues of some sort. There were also several guest complaining everyday to the front desk staff who were not friendly or helpful. Overall we had a nice time because we were with friends, the beach is great, and the food in town is excellent.
