Awesome pools on site and loved the beach walks. Air conditioning in the suites was fresh and cool. The resort was very clean and well maintained. The were limited opportunities to dance in the evening and activities were low key. Staff were friendly and very helpful. The all inclusive bar and appetizers surpassed Secrets PV.
Not what Dreams are made of..
As a formerly faithful vacationer with the AM Resort Group I am sorry that I have to write such a review on this location. This truly was where fun went to die. Please note that I have stayed at many AM Properties and for that reason hold this resort to a higher standard. It surely was reflected in the price we paid so therefore I believe I have the right to review this location harshly but truthfully. Firstly we paid extra as usual for the "Xhale Club". This was the first time that I did not believe that the extra was worth it. Except for facing the ocean there was really very little extra offered. (A 1 time free total visit of the Hydrotherapy circuit vs. 1 time per day at the Breathless resort we were last at.) There was a self serve bar on the 7th floor for the Club members with snacks every day... But really? Self serve bottles on the wall for the Xhale Club... Not even close to what there other resorts offer. The room was a decent size. Not much privacy in the bathroom and a very small shower.. but livable. We had multiple problems with a leaking shower, broken door locks, tub that wouldn't seal, etc... Not Dreams worthy... and yes I get that this is Mexico, but when you pay for 5 star it should deliver. The restaurants were OK at best. I have seen better buffets at the Super 8. Breakfast was very limited and very basic. This was the worst buffet I have seen at ANY resort let alone an AM Resort. There was one other option for breakfast on the grounds but they weren't open every day. Really it's a better option to order room service for breakfast than to "experience" the buffet. The pools were average and very cold. There were no drinks allowed in the pool and no music during the day.... THIS IS WHERE FUN WENT TO DIE! No swim up bar either. Also, this was our first time at an AM Resort where there were no Day Beds of any kind for anyone. Simple hard lounge chairs around the pool and old plastic ones on the beach (many were broken). Once again I've stayed at much less expensive resorts with better. Also there is no nightlife at the location. With one bar on site being open till 12:30 am daily (usually the Sushi Bar) we opted to leave the site if we wanted/needed entertainment. In our week there only one night had some singers in the lobby bar but of course they had to be out by ten pm. There was some basic entertainment nightly in the ballroom for children and once out on the grounds. Basic at best. To summarize, this was an average resort that was overpriced. This might still be ok for those with small children or the over 60 crowd that wants no noise whatsoever. Both of those groups might also appreciate the bland food offerings. Positive notes: Breakfast at Oceana was decent (not consistent though) and for adults only. Our beach bar server, ANGEL was fantastic and made sure we always had a drink. The Portofino restaurant was of higher grade than the rest although the service was very average. Negatives: (will not try to sound petty but again we paid for 5 Star) Draft beer or Bud Light was a very limited beer choice for an AM Resort. Daily snack food from the Barefoot Grill offered nowhere to eat... There was always empty seating next to it but it was not allowed... No Salsa/Pico or Guac anywhere on site.. It could be found sometimes if asked for but was not readily available... Really? Grounds cleanliness was poor. It was not often that the sand was swept up and the rinse off showers were limited due to being broken. More than usual high pressure sales from the AM GROUP to join their club. So would we stay here again, absolutely not. There were so many more resorts on the beach that we found that were much better. They had energy and fun.
Sweet Dreams in Nuevo Vallarta
*Lengthy Review* I enjoyed my stay at the Dreams resort. I appreciated the great service provided by all staff members. Check-in: The check-in process was a breeze since I arrived late in the evening. A welcome drink was ready for me upon arrival. The guest service rep was very informative about the property, and made the process easy. My reservation included resort coupons. I would have appreciated for the guest service rep to provide the coupons at check-in, or provide information of how to obtain. The day after check-in, I had to go on a hunt to locate someone to give me the coupons. Room: The room is very spacious. The room doesn't have a modern feel, which was fine for me. I enjoyed the incense that were provided in the room. The mini bar was stocked with nice options, which suggestion adding additional beer options. The tv guide in the room wasn't accurate. Most of the channels didn't offer english, should update this information. The jet tub on the balcony was a nice treat. I would suggest adding a cover for the jet tub. When unused, debris would appear in the tub which made it difficult to reuse. Housekeeping: Housekeeping needs improvement. Housekeepers should anticipate guests needs by fully stocking the room. Upon arrival, I didn't have towels in the bathroom. Also, they could improve on their schedule of when they service the rooms. On my 3rd day at the resort, I needed housekeeping. I was out of the room all day, only to the return to the room not serviced. Room Service: The room service menu is very extensive, and I appreciated the variety. Service was always prompt. Restaurants and Bars: I enjoyed the food in the World Cafe and Ocean. The meet at Barefoot Grill and Seaside Grill could use improvement. All of the bars were great and fully stocked. I particularly enjoyed the rooftop sushi bar. Be sure to stop by for the nice views, with plenty of flat screen TVs. Spa: Oralia serviced me at the spa. She was so polite, and provided quality service. I enjoyed the hydrotherapy circuit, steam room and sauna as treatments before my massage and facial. Beach: The beach area is very nice, and there are vendors with jet skis/wave runners. There was always a chair available on the beach. I appreciated the beach servers as well. Sales Presentation: Lastly, I appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the loyalty program with Dreams. Fernando introduced this to me without informing me that it was a sales presentation (huge mistake). I wish I was aware of this before agreeing. On the day of my presentation, I met with Jose Luis. He was very polite and provided great information about the program. I decided the program wasn't a fit for me. At this time, he brought in Sergio. Again, Sergio was very polite and informative. They weren't aggressive in their approached, but they were sure to cover alllllllllll details. In the end, I decided not to purchase the membership because it isn't a fit for my current lifestyle. Maybe in the future. I would visit this resort again with my family. I was a solo traveler, and didn't enjoy it as much as I would hope. The resort was very quiet, and didn't offer much nightlife or adult activities.
A “Dreamy” Getaway
My husband and I are just heading to the airport after a week At Dreams Villamagna. It is our second time here and we will definitely come back again. The staff from the bartenders to the activity team are amazing. They will all go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Our room was beautiful and very clean. It is a smaller resort so we almost felt like family!! Would definitely recommend this resort. We will be back!!
I stayed at the Dreams Villamagna for 10 days November 2019. This resort is small but beautiful and kept very clean. Check in was great, the staff are very helpful and courteous. Prior to the trip I wanted to arrange a romantic dinner for my boyfriend and I on the beach and have my hair and makeup done. Rosa- concierge was amazing!!She assisted me prior to my check in at the resort and while I was there. She was so helpful and kind in accommodating all of the arrangements and details. Upon my 10 days there she was always working so hard to assist all of the guests at the Dreams Villamagna. My boyfriend proposed to me during this trip ,she went above and beyond to assist him with details and had a beautiful room to come back to that night with rose petals candles and a bubble bath with champagne. Ernesto served our dinner on the beach as well we saw him daily at the resort. He is exceptional at what he does. We did not consider him our server during breakfast, lunch dinner. He would go above and beyond to get to know us personally and always greeted us around the resort. I only have a couple of negatives. Housekeeping lacked for us. We had to call everyday and request as well request towels so we could shower. I know it was slow season but the restaurants that would say that they were open on the daily lobby forms would end up being closed. Overall we had an amazing vacation! Dreams was beautiful, we had a beautiful room with ocean view. The sushi bar Gohan is amazing to eat at and have drinks and watch the sunset, Alonso served us nightly, he is so great! Christian the photographer for the dreams was great! I would recommend him for photos! 🙂
