Rooms too hot to sleep
My family and I traveled based on a travel agents recommendation. The food was mediocre except in the seaside grill area and the rooms were too hot for any of us to sleep. The grounds were very well kept and beautiful.
My wife and I had a very mixed experience at Dreams Tulum. We booked a standard room and attended a wedding. The problem was that we had to change rooms twice. The first room (#1208) smelled like fresh paint and the odor gave us headaches. Front desk helped us moved to another room in the same block (#3224). This room smelled strongly like mildew and/or "old water". I suspect the odor came from the air conditioner. I returned to the front desk to request a room change and this time they were less accommodating. They wanted us to upgrade to a suite for $60/night versus finding us another room of equivalent value. I obliged because I did not want to sleep in a room that smelled like mildew. The junior suite was fine (#8222): spacious, clean, odorless. It was also located in a building close to the beach, pools, and restaurants. However, it is disappointing that we had to pay extra to have a comfortable experience at this hotel. Food, drink, and facilities were fine. We had food at the wedding event, and had the buffet. The normal spirits seemed weak, so we ordered a "double" of every drink.
Dreams Tulum is one of my favorite resorts that I've ever been to. I've stayed at over 30 resorts in Mexico and so far I think this is one of the best! The level of service at this Dreams is exceptionable. The staff is the best I've ever dealt with. I love the decor, it reminded me of stay in an Old Mexican Beach town. The beach is a little Rocky in some places and seaweed is around but the staff is working hard on keeping the beach clean. The pools, there are two were also spotless. Entertainment staff is hard working. The restaurants were excellent. I loved the Mexican restaurant. The buffet was also way above average, great food and a great variety. The only thing I didn't like was entertainment one night was not so good, it was comedy night, it was just a guy with a yo-yo. But the other shows we're very cool, Brazilian night. Mariachi night. And the fire show. Top notch. But I will say my favorite part was the staff. Daniel Martinez. A great guy! Martino. Another great guy. Who took the time to find me and gave me a personal goodbye. Claudia, biggest smile, biggest heart. Amelia at the Cocoa Cafe always had my coffee ready when she would see me. Isabel at the spa, very friendly, very professional. Lovely person. And gave excellent massages. Ana at the pool, honestly the hardest worker I think I've ever met in my life. Works the pool. Jonathan at VIP reception huge help answering all my questions. Entertainment staff also excellent Victor Leo Ricky and Dede hard-working very friendly. Very entertaining. Also many many others. Also I would like to note, the timeshare people were not overwhelming. If you're not interested just say no. And move on. They will not harass you.
Wedding Dreams Come True @ Dreams Tulum
Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa made our wedding dreams come to life. After researching dozens of hotels in the Tulum/Playa Del Carmen areas, Dreams Tulum impressed us the most with its beauty, size, beach, and ability to accommodate the diverse demands of our large group for an entire week. The Wedding Department team comprised of Nayeli, Landy, and Victoria. They were brilliant in their assistance and execution, as we were planning the entire affair from Hong Kong. Nayeli was our primary wedding planner and helped us decide on flowers, decor, canopy, food, and drinks, while keeping the costs sufficiently low. She also went above and beyond to ensure all of our guests’ stay at Dreams went without a glitch. Nayeli made herself available for phone calls and was very responsive to all of our emails. Dreams Tulum had multiple beautiful ceremony/reception locations for us to choose from. We had the ability to select from several gardens and a spacious ballroom for the wedding party and the band we retained in Tulum. We ended up going with the Secret Garden for our ceremony, followed by Dreams Chichen Itza Ballroom reception. It was perfect, because it allowed us to comfortably party until very late as it was located away from the hotel rooms. Our entire party of 70 stayed at Dreams Tulum, youngest was 4 months old and oldest 85. We planned to spend a week together with friends and family, while offering convenience and variety for food and activities. Some of the activities we did at Dreams were canoeing, beach volleyball, numerous group dinners that the hotel was able to accommodate on a last minute basis, Cabanas, massages, delivery of welcome gifts for our guests, goodbye brunch after the wedding party, photographers for our welcome party at Gitanos (an offsite restaurant in Tulum). Though Tulum is located about an hour from the airport, we found the spot worth the drive because it is close to cave diving activities, to Tulum city and Tulum ruins. All in all, we highly recommend Dreams Tulum Resort to anyone looking to have a fabulous wedding at an incredible location with a highly capable team, ready to answer your every wis
