Dreams is a lovely hotel. It's well manicured, colorful and clean. The workers were extremely friendly always offering a kind "hola." Pools were lovely and cleaned each morning. There were several restaurants each offering their "specialty" food. For instance, there was a seafood, steakhouse, Asian Fusion, Italian and, of course, the main area which offered everything you could imagine buffet style. No one should go hungry. The drinks were weak and only 1 bar offered premium liquor. Since they are eco-friendly straws were not offered. Only beer was Presidente which was draft. Bottles were in the mini fridge, but you needed to request for them to restock. It offered a very narrow beach. Bavaro Beach is a better location. It was also 40 mins. from the airport. We didn't do any excursions because it was a short trip for us, but there was no little shops to walk to or no town that was close to visit. It would have been a long taxi ride. Casino was very small. Entertainment every night offered by the same group of people.
This is probably the most difficult hotel review I have ever had to write. I would recommend this property to friends and family with the stipulation that it’s a “good value” but don’t expect a 5 star resort. You can pay a few hundred dollars more and get a nicer place. In general I had a good vacation and would go back if it were a good deal. Check in- 1 star. After a long day of traveling you have to stand waiting in line. This is my 9th AM property and I can’t remember any of the other resorts making you stand at a desk. Usually you are greeted with champagne, a cool towel, and brought over to a desk to sit down and check in. This was not the case and truly blew me away not a good way to start a vacation. I look forward to that glass of champagne! It makes you feel special. No champagne on arrival. Standing around waiting for someone to help us. Someone who was checking out was brought in front of me before they served me. Fine. Rooms weren’t ready. Fine, but when we came back after 3 still not ready. I did email the hotel some room request prior to checking in and they did a good job of accommodating those requests such as a handicap accessible room and 2 beds. They try and talk to you about the timeshare but I knew about this and had to forcefully say I wasn’t interested in hearing about it. Pool is 5 stars. Beautiful, huge pool! Lots of pool mats, volleyball, nice vegetation, places to put lounge chairs in the pool. One of the best pools I have ever been at. Breakfast 4 stars- if you aren’t preferred club the only place for breakfast is the buffet, World Café. Lots of options-crepe, omelet, smoothie station. Lots of fresh fruit Lunch 1 star- if not preferred club your only choices are basically hot dogs, hamburgers, and pizza for lunch. Buffett is open but it’s not near the beach or pool and still wasn’t that good. Dinner 4 stars- Dinners were very good. We ate at Oceana, Seaside Grill, Hibachi, and Portofino. Hibachi was interesting since they don’t allow children under 10 and you can’t make a reservation. Most Dreams I have been to they open up reservations at 4pm each day. There was no show or excitement around the Hibachi. Ate a lot of steak which was difficult to convey to the waiters/chef how you wanted it cooked. Usually it was overcooked or too rare. The ambiance was nice. The waiters worked their butts off!! Thanks super waiter!! Rooms-0 stars. The rooms are terrible. If you were to take the hotel/ room blocks and move them away from the beautiful beach and pool it would be a roach motel. 2 star at best. Rooms are small, paint is peeling, the bathrooms are dark, and have weird ceilings. Walls were paper thin and we could hear our neighbors facetiming family and having "romantic" time. There was one room across that hall where they put a plywood up over the door. Very scary. Beds and pillows were terrible and I did not sleep well. Spa-4.5 stars. We spent about 3 days at the Spa. We did massages, facials, and hydrotherapy. It was wonderful. Nearly perfect. The locker rooms are teeny and I like when they have the Pevonia products they sell out for testing which they didn’t at this property. Unfortunately, the hotel next door is under renovation and it is right next to the spa. They try their best to drown out the noise with headphones, but it also makes for some good deals on spa services. Gym-5 stars. Nothing wrong with the gym it was great and well equipped. Beach 4.5 star. beautiful beach. There is a section roped off for preferred club and there is no service on the beach unless you are preferred club. This didn’t bother us as there is a bar very close by. The water was rough one day and they did close it to swimming. A little bit of seeweed but not too bad. It isn’t a secluded beach. There are hotels all around and vendors walking up and down selling things and bringing animals around for kids to get pictures with for a few dollars. Shops/vendors 2 stars- Our first night we heard a woman yelling “Leave us alone you are ruining our vacation”. A few nights a week local vendors come in and sell their wares. Their tactics are aggressive and if you aren’t used to that before it can be very off putting. They will put bracelets on your arms or around your kids and ask for astronomical amounts of money. Say no thank you, keep walking, or bargain. I got a few pieces of jewelry and a jewelry box for some good deals this way. Drinks-2.5 stars Drinks are not top shelf really seem to be the cheapest brands or close to and drinks are watered down. I stuck mostly to wine and champagne and they were ok. We went over to Now and Breathless one night and they have the top shelf liquor like Sky Vodka etc. You wont get that at Dreams Maid service-3.5 stars our room was clean and when you called for anything they came quickly. However they only give you shampoo and a bar a soap. I don’t understand “4 star” hotels not giving conditioner it is a pet peeve of mine. Entertainment-4.5 stars The entertainment was good! I enjoyed a Thanksgiving dance party. They had stilt walkers, a great dj, glow sticks, we danced and had a blast! The other shows mostly dancing were good and entertaining and there was a magician one night. They had pool parties and lots of activities! Explorers Club-3 star our kids did it a few times but they were 9 and 11 and would have been better suited for the acitivities at the Core Zone like rock climbing, tramplone, Xbox but they were too young. They were good at the explorers club did some nice activities but my kids thought it was too young
November 2019 Wedding Anniversary
Dreams Punta Cana is a beautiful resort, with nature blended with amazing beach views and turquoise clear ocean waters. Veerle from UVC provided excellent customer service, checking in with us, and even helping us extend our stay at the hotel. Rigo and Juanna were on top of their game at the pool bar; and Francisco, Wilden, and Familia at the restaurants treated us like family while we were there for our stay. From the moment we stepped out of the airport shuttle, Robert greeted us and made us feel at home. This type of service continued the entire time during our stay. Beautiful property with turtles, parrots, and flamingos along the walking paths. We loved our stay at the resort!
85 and sunny
Luv the Punta Cana Dreams. The full length of the resort pool was something special. Definitely(pool)made the place more private and romantic. Our waiter from the romantic dinnner on the beach went way beyond expectations for service.
Dreams Punta Cana
Great resort! Everyone here is super nice and helpful. The resort is kid friendly and have lots of activities to keep children occupied. Rooms are a little outdated but who stays in their rooms anymore. Large lazy river pool, beautiful beach, really great restaurants, casino, entertainment shows, and lots of water sports. You really don’t need to leave this resort.
