Great overall!
We visited this resort the first week of July 2025 as a group of 17 (10 adults and 7 kids ranging from infant to 11yo). We would rate it 8/10: pros: - lots of space on resort (didn’t feel cramped ever) - great kids pool and slides - restaurants are easily accessible and don’t require reservations and never a long wait (hibachi is the only one requiring a reservation and is hard to book, so we just ate that the restaurant as regular guests (ie; not the hibachi experience)) - buffet has lots of options (it’s not 10/10 everytime, but the omelettes and pasta were great, friendly staff, and great baked goods) - checkin and checkout were super fast and easy! - the cafe Dolce was amazing everytime… coffee, ice cream, baked goods! Cons: - this region of Mexico is SOOOO HOT!!! I read that the location doesn’t get much wind, and therefore it was stifling 24-7 - piggybacking off the above, there is not enough shade on this resort at all!!!!! There are pool umbrellas and some huts on the beach, but we were constantly moving around our pool umbrellas to make shade for kids/ourselves. We asked staff if they had extras, they took our info for their “records” and said they would bring one, it came hours later lol… The resort would benefit hugely from shaded areas, stationary huts by the pools, areas covered by “sails”, or cooling/misting stations in my opinion!!! - the pools are veryyyyy warm, and not refreshing at all (the one pool by the Grotto pool bar was slightly cooler), but even that was very warm. Just not very refreshing when the outside air is hot as hell - there are no childproof door locks (or high latches) on the hotel room door or patio door! This is very unsafe for kids as they can open themselves!!! (Our 3yo could open, so we were watching him like hawks) Note: lots of seaweed, but the staff tried to stay on top of it! Unfortunately, it’s just part of our world now so I do not fault the resort None of these cons would keep me from going back, but they are definitely improvements that I think all guests could benefit from!!!! Overall, great resort with friendly staff!

Disappointing Experience for a Destination Wedding at This Resort
I’ve stayed at several Hyatt Hotels and Resorts and have generally had great experiences, which makes this review especially hard to write. I don’t typically take the time to leave reviews, but after everything that happened during my sister’s destination wedding here, I felt it was important to share—for anyone considering spending thousands of dollars to host a major life event at this resort. My sister chose this location because it looked beautiful and had family-friendly amenities. She worked with Andrea Norfolk as the wedding planner. While I don’t know every detail, I know my sister ended up feeling cornered into a final booking she wasn’t entirely comfortable with. I personally reached out to Andrea to see if there was anything that could be done to help her feel better about the decision and was met with a cold, dismissive email that basically said no. That set the tone in a way that stuck with me. When we arrived, we found out that my sister and her fiancé had been put in the wrong room—one without the private swim-out feature they had specifically booked and paid for. Worse, the room smelled like weed. The staff did move them to another swim-out room, but the emotional toll had already hit. She had been dreaming about this trip and started it in tears. The most upsetting part, though, happened on our first night. A staff member had told us the restaurant where the bridal party planned to dine allowed guests 12 and up. My husband and 12-year-old stepson dressed up and were so excited to be part of the celebration. When we got there, they checked his passport and denied him entry because he was not yet 13. Even after explaining that it was my sister’s wedding, the staff wouldn’t make an exception. We were devastated, and honestly, we left in tears. The manager was indifferent and completely unsympathetic. To be fair, some of the staff were wonderful—kind, attentive, and truly helpful. But others acted like they hated being there, and that energy was impossible to ignore. When you’re at a resort for something as meaningful as a wedding, it’s disheartening to be surrounded by that kind of negativity. This trip should have been joyful and memorable for all the right reasons. Instead, it left us feeling frustrated and hurt. I sincerely hope the resort takes this feedback seriously and improves how it supports wedding guests in the future.
