Customer Ratings & Reviews

I had a very pleasant welcome to the hotel. The overall layout of the resort was nice and clean. I enjoyed the pool over looking the ocean The staff was friendly and helpful. There were several restaurants to choose from. They need major improvements for breakfast options and some of the menu options. My room was very nice and clean. We enjoyed the traditional Panamanian dance at dinner. They could use more entertainment but I did go doing the off peak season. If you prefer to leave the crowd behind this is a great Time to go. I recommend going on the excursions offered. My good friend Miguel is a great tour guide 50765326621. He took us to all the exclusive places.
Nice Resort with friendly staff
We traveled to Dreams Playa Bonita Resort for our son’s wedding. Arrival to the hotel (about 45 minutes from airport) went smoothly even though we had a large (18) group. The group was greeted with glasses of champagne and check in was efficient. Accessibility: everything at the resort is accessible except perhaps the swimming pools. There are either ramps or elevators to transport individuals with mobility problems from floor to floor. The space between the tables in the dining rooms would make it difficult to maneuver a wheelchair or a large walker. Seating in the dining would most likely prove difficult for anyone in a wheelchair. Rooms: As there were three of us staying in one room we opted for a Preferred Club Deluxe ocean view room with two king beds and a private furnished balcony. The room was of a good size, well stocked with a mini bar stocked with soft drinks, juice, bottled water and beer, an array of amenities in the bathroom (including bug repellent wipes), a hair dryer and a lighted make up mirror. We found the beds and pillows to be quite comfortable. Rooms were cleaned and restocked daily. Grounds: The grounds of the resort are well maintained and very clean. The beach and the ocean are beautiful, with the ocean water quite warm. Lounge chairs are provided, as are a number of grass covered cabanas. There is an “adults only” pool with a private adult only bar that is available only to Preferred Club members. Dining: Food was not this resort’s strong point. There are several dining options, though since this was low season, the three “dinner only” options were open on a rotating basis, and one is only available to Preferred Club members (others had to pay a surcharge – not worth it). Note for men that the dinner only restaurants required long pants, dress shirts with short sleeves or collared shirts and close toed shoes or dress sandals (no flip-flops). Large groups (more than 8) are difficult to accommodate as the staff is VERY reluctant to move tables together. The food is mediocre at best. Best meal: breakfast. The breakfast buffet includes all of the typical American breakfast items as well as a number of Central American breakfast dishes and a variety of fruits, pastries and vegetables. There is a make your own waffle set-up, and a cooked-to-order omelet station. The worst meal: Anything from the room service menu. Not only did it take a very long time (45 minutes or more) to receive the items, what you got often did not even vaguely resemble what you ordered (like a whole fish – head, tail and all- when you ordered a fish fillet) most things were cool to cold when they arrived. The worst choices were those cooked with beef (with the exception of ground beef). They were across the board tough and chewy. Best were chicken dishes, and those ranged from edible to mediocre at best. Being so close to the ocean one would expect great seafood. That expectation was not met, though the afore-mentioned whole fish is much better when it is expected and warm from the kitchen. Lunch from the Barefoot Grill is a safe bet as most items, though limited in choices, were usually simple things that could be grilled and were cooked to order. The CoCo café was a favorite especially among the younger set. Open from 6AM to 1 AM (19 hrs/day) There were always various slider sandwiches available, as well as several flavors of gelato and various drinks ranging from water to fresh fruit juices. If you paid to be included in the Preferred Club there was a separate area upstairs from the lobby that had snacks all afternoon, as well as a private bar. Drinks: all drinks are included in the price of the room. The liquor is quite good, with many brand name bottles. The bartenders were all knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. There are 4 bars. The one in the main lobby is always open; the other three are open on a rotating basis depending on the number of guests at any given time. Excursions: There are a number of excursions that can be booked at the Concierge Desk. One note: if you or anyone in your party is inclined to be car sick, it is best advised that you ask your doctor about anti-nausea medication prior to your trip. Many of the excursions involve driving on very rough roads, and taking anti-nausea medication prior to going on the excursion is a good idea. We took several side trips, including one to Old Panama City, and one to the Panama Canal. Both were time and money well spent. The guides were knowledgeable and very pleasant. In all, this is a decent, very clean resort in a lovely area of Panama with delightful, welcoming staff. As long as you are not expecting gourmet food you should be very happy with the time you spend here.
This Dreams property doesn't carry the same perks as other Dream resorts. The preferred level was somewhat disappointing compared to other Dreams. The building is in need of repair. However, the location could not be better. It is so, so beautiful and relaxing. There is wildlife on the resort property too. However the best part of this resort is the staff. The staff is absolutely kind, warm, helpful and caring. Dennise at the spa and Louisa in the Preferred Club lounge are both divine!
The first thing we learned was to disregard the negative Trip Advisor reviews that we had read. We enjoyed our time at Playa Bonita. Clean, quiet and lovely setting. Especially the first week where we got to know the restaurants and the other facilities including the beach. Excellent staff at the Market Café and Bordeaux made eating at those places wonderful. Had a different sort of weekend for the Panama holiday....became very crowded and although we have been to full resorts before this resort seemed to be over its capacity to handle.....still that was only 2 nights and we still have good memories of our visit.
Nice family vacation - Resort needs improvements- Zanche is the best!
Had a very nice break and stayed 9 days. Based on other reviews, we decided to rent a car and plan to have some experiences (dining and activities) outside of the resort. We loved Panamá and our bartender for most of our time there was amazing - ask for Zanche for the best service, amazing energy and fresh mango margaritas!
