    C/S sucks

The resort grounds are beautiful and the waitress/waiters at the pool and restaurants are amazing. But customer service SUCKS, the first day the bellhop destroyed my sunglasses and I was basically accused of lying and they tried to say I dropped them… the frames were broken and completely tweaked with an arm missing, that damage didn’t happen from a “drop”. I was told I’d be contacted with a resolution and I heard nothing. I emailed the concierge for help and they asked for the receipt and my account number telling me accounting would deposit my payment and in the same email asked me to remove a post on Facebook I made regarding the incident because they got in trouble. Then I never heard from the concierge again, no deposit and zero additional response to my follow-up.

Wedding weekend, here are my main take aways.

I have stayed at many resorts but it has been a long time since I've stayed at an all inclusive. The resort is beautiful, and well kept. A lot of staff. Here are my main points that I hope will help you if you are headed here. 1. Arrival and check in, after a 1 1/2 hour ride from airport, was easy, no issues. 2. Rooms were good, nice balcony with a soaker tub. Yes, the bottom sheets are not fitted, as someone else mentioned, and move around. Not a deal breaker. 3. IT IS HOT! All the time, there is very little relief from this heat. I have never experienced this before. The pools are hot and the ocean is hot. The only place to cool off is your room or an indoor restaurant. The humidity is very high. Each day I peeled my soaking wet clothes off. No re wearing of clothes. 4. Pack accordingly, Do not pack anything long sleeve, etc. 5. Bring a insulated cup, (stanley, Yeti) I bought one there $45! The drinks were good but melted and were warm by the time you could drink half of it. Once I used insulated cup. Much more enjoyable. Bring bug spray. Especially if you are going on a hike or boat trip. Not too bad but in the evening and after a rain the bugs come out. 6. Food was good. They have a buffet that has many many choices, breakfast lunch and dinner, something for everyone! Restaurants have smaller portions but just order a few things. 7. WARNING... The pool decking is slippery... really slippery. Bare feet is a no no. Bring a rubber soled flip flop or shoe. We were there for a wedding and it was a beautiful beach wedding. The staff did a great job. Food was excellent.

    Very Enjoyable

Everything was as expected in a good way. Some staff was meh but most was really good. Monkeys are cool for a second then become a nuisance so dont be a fool and feed them or leave stuff on balcony. Food was good, drinks were fine, and room was decent. Paying more for Dreams versus Riu was def the right move.

    I love Costa Rica.....

Costa Rica is a beautiful country, full of diverse wild life and friendly people. Our stay at dreams was ok. The people at dreams are TOP NOTCH. I can't stress that enough. Unfortunately our trip was preceded by upsale pitches that weren't even fulfilled when we arrived, and when we landed we were immediately met with Hyatt "super special club, and totally not a time share" sales pitches and imaginary points to spend on specific things at the hotel. It's 98° F here and I've been traveling all day....please just let me go to my room. Our visit was preceded by a room upgrade pitch, that the hotel was apparently not aware of when we checked in. We booked through Hyatt directly, so I'm not sure who dropped the ball here. When we landed and got through the initial hour of sales pitches for more Hyatt stuff, we enjoyed a few hours of AC in our room. The AC died the next day, and the rest of the trip we were constantly putting in maintenance requests. The staff was helpful, but there is only so much you can do when the AC doesn't work. I found myself going to the gym to enjoy their AC and escape the heat of our room.... That's a bonus, I guess... After 2 days we were acclimatized to the heat, but even so, it's REALLY HARD to enjoy an outing knowing you're coming back to a room that's stuck at 78°F. On our last day maintenance figured it out so that was nice. The people at Dreams are awesome and always willing to help. It's just really hard to enjoy time off when your room is 78°F. Sleeping in sweat is NOT my idea of a vacation.

    Still Dreaming

From our check in with Humberto and Fabiola, to our time on the beach with Marco to our excursions across La Cruz and Guanacaste, this resort truly was a dream come true. The staff are so kind and attentive. Our rooms were incredible and the service even more so. We loved all the food and marveled at all there is to see and do! I highly recommend touring the mangroves with Oscar and Bernie. Oscar is incredibly knowledgeable and his tour was the best! We loved our tropical view and saw monkeys and blue jays every day. The beach was my favorite spot to sit and read/draw. Truly a remarkable visit. We will absolutely be back!
