Great room and beach and atmosphere - food not so good
Had a great time here for a week but the food was not 'world class'. Just one seafood dish and the menu didn't change, Also small portions (nouvelle cuisine is the excuse) Mind you most of the island lacks good dining. $26 for a buffet breakfast with luke warm coffee was a rip off. There's no where else nearby. I'd suggest renting a car for the entire stay. I heard from a guest that had just arrived that there was no hot water in the shower (ours was fine). The plumber they sent to the room told her the renovation didn't provide enough hot water production so beware of a room like that until they fix it. We had a room overlooking the pools but could also see ocean. There are rooms that just overlook the road. Great place, just food was not so good (filet mignon was great though the one night I ate there)
Amazing time at the new Curacao Marriott!
Just returned from the Curacao Marriott Beach Resort. Wow! What an amazing vacation. The resort is gorgeous! All open to the beautiful ocean breezes. Pools are huge with lots of nooks and crannies to find your own spot. Beach is so pretty and great for watching the sun set every night. The most amazing thing about this hotel is the staff. Every single employee turned themselves wrong side out to be helpful. Super friendly (they all knew our names and were giving us hugs by the end of the first day), helpful, kind and upbeat. Zhaijr Coffie actually gave us a tour of Willemstad on day 1! Enrique in Engineering came right away when we had an issue with our safe. When we bought rafts in the gift shop and the kids club was blowing them up for us while we lounged at the pool, Kayra came and told us that one of the rafts leaked air, so she brought us a raft to borrow for the week AND took it upon herself to go up the gift shop and ask for an exchange or refund. She actually went up twice for us! Nick at the upstairs bar knew our drink orders and made the best martinis ever! David and Mike at the pool bar were so fun and accommodating. Bryan helped us with our car (the alarm kept going off) and luggage in the most cheerful way. There were so many of them, it is hard to mention them all. Grace was the first smiling face we saw at the front desk. And the answer was always "yes" to whatever we asked! Gladwin and Radian at the pool. It could go on and on.
Good hotel but extras are too expensive
We are actually still staying for the 3rd day of our 5 days family holiday at the Curacao Mariott. It's a beautiful hotel, recently renovated and good service, especially at the pool /beach area, Gladwin the pool 'man' is very helpful, smiling and nice as well as the pol bar service crew, Maduro served us all day with a lovely smile. All good BUT really, Mariott or not, who would be happy paying 10 usd. for a 750 cc bottle of water? We asked for 2 bottles of water and they arrived with a bill of 20 usd! Everything is more expensive than mainland anywhere in Curacao, but 10 usd /1 bottle of water makes one say 'COME ON GUYS '.
First of all, Marriot would be very proud to have a staff member like Fadilah Baroud. She is amazing, friendly and have a good vibe. I really love the service she provided to me, due to this I have booked immediately and can't wait for my stay there. The hotel is beautiful and I will review again after my stay, I'm sure it will be "days to remember". Thanks again Fadilah!!
Dreams was just opened in December and they are dramatically improving the resort and doing an excellent job. Very clean rooms and spacious accommodations. The location, pools, beaches and snorkeling are excellent. The island is simple but if you like beach hopping and underwater activity this is the place for you.
