A wonderful stay overlooking Great Bay
Our family spent another amazing week at Divi Little Bay. Our stay on the Great Bay was made even more special by Janey our housekeeper. Upon our arrival she greeted us with a warm smile and helped find us an extra blanket. During the week we came home to a towel decoration with flowers ! Janey takes pride in the job she does! Thank you Janey.
Divi little Bay Resort - Timeshare watch out you could be caught!
This resort has had many updates, looks well kept, has a nice beach, offers all inclusive options as there are 4 places to eat at the resort plus bars and units with kitchens. However please note that it is a time share resort and you will not escape the clutches of some ‘friendly’ person offering you ‘free’ gifts in exchange for 90minutes of your time. So called Free gifts not free at all as you end up paying for taxes, gratuities and extras!! Check in was a nightmare with long lineups of disgruntled people waiting for over 30/45 minutes with only 1 member of staff to check people! Eventually another member staff showed up which helped. Several rooms were not available even at the 4pm allotted checkin time due to cleaning issues. Upon checking in to the unit there was dirty fridge with left over food was found in freezer, plus oven, toaster, microwave, floor were not cleaned. The more annoying problem is the fact that throughout our stay there are not enough Umbrellas for guests. Always some excuse that the umbrellas were broken or they were borrowed from another resort and they had to go back! This made up story which even the staff at the front desk did not understand as they were under the impression there were enough umbrellas! I hope they solve this issue!
Relaxing week long getaway
Beautiful beach, friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. We did not do all inclusive but like that they do give you the option to do partial week(3 day minimum). Everything was in walking distance, I was worried from some pictures as it looked like there was a large hill in order to get to the beach, this is not the case. We stayed 1 night in a studio overlooking little bay then 6 nights in a 1 bedroom right by the new pool. Tony was amazing with the activities and very informative. We would rent a car the next time as we really enjoyed going to Phillipsburg and eating there. I think the food variety on the resort could use some improvement. We will be returning!
I read the reviews but NO!
We are so dissatisfied and disappointed with this trip it is frustrating- I will just give pros and cons. And photos. Pros: gorgeous beach and water. Convenient to everything. Spectacular views. Rooms are arranged nice. The best part is the beach and location. Mini market was convenient but if you choose the all inclusive plan then it’s worthless. The spa was awesome for pedicures (that’s all we did there). Cons: very poor service. Same food options every day and night. Takes entirely too long to get food and they are always out of everything— for example- 1 hour and 15 min to get conch fritters, chicken wrap and wings. And this wasn’t what we wanted to order but they were out of ribs and roti and fish. No one was ever in a hurry to be of service- felt like we were an annoyance to every employee with the exception of : MiMi, Roger, Pierre, and Berniece. The check in is horrible- I will get to the reservation after this - we arrived at the resort at 4:30. Check in is at 3. We got our room at 8:45pm. And it was not the room we booked. The rooms are NOT correct on the website and even if you call the corporate office or reservation desk, you will not get correct information. We were told we had the room that was just slight of the penthouse- which we didn’t want. But we did want the extra bathroom, kitchen and washer/dryer in our suite. We were told numerous times that was what we paid for- — we were also told that all rooms had a washer/dryer in them at this location since the renovation- THIS IS NOT TRUE. After much debate and argument - we were moved to the room we were originally told we paid for - 2 days later. Both rooms were not cleaned to anything near a 3 or 4 star hotel (and yes I am picky but I have pictures to verify). Some days there was no housekeeping and the other days it was hit or miss what they did. Mold in showers. Dead Roaches in drawers. Live HUGE roaches in room. Just gross.
Beautiful St. Maarten
Firstly, I'd like to say that my family and I had fun in St. Maarten. The people are friendly from the taxi drivers to the restaurant staff. We stayed at Divi Little Bay from the 28th July to the 2nd August for 5 nights. We took the minimum 3 day all inclusive package on our last 3 days there. I have to say the grounds, the beach and the views from Little Bay are breathtaking and truly convey a Caribbean paradise. However, Divi was not without its issues. On the first full day there, it rained almost the entire day and our room leaked in at least 2 places. Not sure if this was known before but we were moved to a new room after breakfast that day. On the days that we stayed close to the hotel when we took the all inclusive package a few issues made themselves apparent. Firstly, the main dining room Pure Ocean does not open for dinner on a Tuesday, something which we did not know.. so if you are on the AI package like we were, your options were food from the Shack and Gizmos which served only bbq, grilled or fried food.. nothing substantial. The wait to receive the food was also very long even in the main dining area. One of our family members a small child waited almost an hour to receive a shrimp caesar salad.. On another occasion the main dining room ran out of coca cola... which seemed strange.. I would recommend eating at the Seabreeze and the Pure Ocean...putting those issues aside, there were ppl who served us excellently, who were very friendly and helpful. Marcia, Paul, Tony, Leroy and Xavier really helped out whenever they could and truly displayed Caribbean hospitality at it's best. I would definitely go back to St. Maarten and even stay at Divi once the kinks in management have been sorted out. I am hoping as the country continues to recover from the hurricane 2 years ago and build back better that some of these issues will be rectified..
