Still not perfect - but absolutely perfect !!!!!
Wanted to write again about this hotel - as we have now visited 9 times. This place has a really special feel. The location on the superb white beach is idyllic. The rooms are fantastic with super comfy beds. And the best bit - is undoubtedly the staff. We have always had such a brilliant welcome. It really feels like a family. However, have to say, that on our last visit, there have been some small, fairly subtle improvements: the beach is a tidier; the sun loungers are newer; there is less mess on the beach (although entirely normal for a resort); the food is better quality; more food is available throughout the day and most of the bathrooms are being updated. This investment in the resort, together with careful management, is a reflection of how much the manager knows her market and her clientele. Big thanks to everyone: Beach crew - Jimahl, Ellis, Devon, John, Rayna - best beach team - will always help. Bar crew - (best cocktails and always with a smile) Jensel, Shirean, Raheem, Robert, Dolores, Kerry-Ann Restaurant crew - wonderful ladies Kathy and Dawna Reception - Shane, Celeste, Brian, Alicia, Lisa and Clardora - loving the red carpet ! Unofficial tours - Dwayne, Randy and Big Sam - find them on the beach for the best (and cheapest) snorkel trips/jet skis and island tours ! See you all next year !
Not as expected
I and my traveling companions have been to many all-inclusive resorts and this one was not like the others. Food is not available at all times. There were times between meals when we were hungry and there was nothing to be found. Not what we expected. Resort nightlife was non-existent. This was not the place for 20-somethings looking to party it up and/or dance and that was half our party. This is a small resort, essentially one restaurant and an outdoor buffet. Nothing is air-conditioned but your room and the wine bar. Beach service was close to non-existent. One day there were water and soft drinks available in a cabana and a woman came around with cookies, then there was nothing put out on the subsequent days. Once a day I'd say someone would come by to offer drinks but that was it. The popsicle (ice lolly) lady came around twice while we were there, that did not seem to be a regular event. I never did figure out where to find beach towels nor where to return them at the end of the day. We had 2 in our room the first day and never had a delivery after that so I'd just ask a housecleaner or the front desk for some. I feel like there was a procedure that was never explained to us. Food quality and selection was fine in the restaurant. Breakfast is a buffet but there was a station for customized eggs; she made great eggs and that was the only line but it moved quickly. Service people were polite but no one was particularly interested in chatting up guests. The beach is beautiful and there was never a problem finding a lounge chair no matter the time of day, but it seemed poolside lounges were hard to come by (we never tried). The cave bar is neat in concept but the barmaid never seemed interested in serving. We ordered frozen margaritas and she put in shaved ice, lemon juice and tequila. Isn't that a resort basic offering, not to mention lime-based? We had an oceanfront room. Size and cleanliness were fine, no complaints. There was a big tv with plenty of stations, not that we spent much time in the room. Rooms had drying racks for wet swimsuits on the balconies and that was a great thing to have. There was a mini-fridge but honestly it was not restocked with water after the first day, and it was so very hot that we needed water constantly. The beds and pillows were comfortable. There is a safe in the room for valuables. The pools are pretty but small. We are more beach people than pool people so we only dipped in the pool once to visit the cave bar. We didn't do any of the on-site watersports other than get snorkels, but it didn't seem to be too busy during our stay. There were outside vendors there and we did use them (Duane) for a turtle tour (great) and a trip to Oistens for the fish fry (also great). There was also a jet ski guy who was exceedingly crass so be warned. We did not use the water taxi to the sister resorts but it did run regularly; daytime hours only. There were a few hustlers wandering through the beach offering their wares, but overall the area felt very safe. We'd leave our stuff on our chairs to eat lunch and not worry and never had cause to regret that decision.
We have just returned from 10 days at Crystal Cove. Lovely, friendly hotel...Good food, friendly helpful staff..especially Lisa on front desk, Paul at the water sports, Kevin the barman and Fabian front of house who greets you as you arrive.. Lovely people who helped make our holiday perfect. Thank you to all. We had a beach view room which was lovely..(fabulous view of the beach) kept clean and tidy everyday by the lovely Janice. The beach is beautiful, grounds are well maintained and pretty gardens.. Swimming pools are a bit on the small side, but pretty and clean. Evening entertainment was very good and the water sports is very well run offering catamarans, rubber ring rides, water skiing, banana boat rides, glass bottom boat ride with snorkelling ( excellent trip..well worth doing!) snorkels for use in resort. We had a lovely holiday and would have loved to have stayed longer...hopefully will be back again next year!! Chris and John Dennis
Just returned from a 10 night stay for our anniversary. From the time we pulled up at the front door and were greeted by Fabian who told us simply that our only job during our stay was to enjoy ourselves to the time we checked out we were treat superbly by all the members of staff we encountered. The food in both restaurants, buffet and a la carte was superb. The service by all staff members at meal times was very good. We stayed in room 346 and can honestly say that room has breath taking views. The room was spotless when we arrived and was cleaned daily. Our bed was turned down every night for us while we enjoying the nightly entertainment. A nice touch are the additional towels provided for beach and pool use at no extra cost. Although we were provided with 2 fresh ones every morning replacements were available throughout the day upon request. All staff members were cheerful, polite and courteous every time we spoke to them. Nothing was a problem. They are all a credit to this resort. The free water sports provided by the resort are great fun and again the staff running these are happy, cheerful and polite. Although all the staff deserve credit a few who really stood out are Robert and Kevan in the Cave bar, Kathy and Tanya in the restaurants, Raheem in the Vista bar, Hamley who was poolside , John on the beach and Rayner who never stopped taking order from customers around the pool and beach area and Monica who was part of the gardening staff. We will definitely be back at this resort and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic holiday in Barbados.
Beautiful setting and location for a wedding in paradise. The staff are amazing, they make you feel so special the place is immaculate and food 5*. If you have children the kids club is great for them and well run. The water sports are great fun and everywhere outside is easily accessible. We made happy memories. Definitely be returning in the future.
