Still under construction and no pool
Here for a family vacation and we were not told that this hotel was under construction. Rooms have been renovated and are okay. But, even though we were told our floor was done, nope... still doing the punch list. Worst of all, no pool! Further, there is no beach! Meaning, there is ocean and the hotel is on the ocean but you cannot get into the ocean here or you are smashed on the rocks/reef. You gotta drive to a beach without a doubt. The shower in the room has to be lowest flow shower head ever. Seriously, the sinks in the common area run faster. The common areas are not being cleaned even though they are still very new. Run a freaking vacuum down the hallway for goodness sake... There are contractors staying at the hotel and the staff is stressed cause they keep making messes that the staff has to clean up... Will never stay here again and am rethinking being a Marriott member. To the hotel management, you should be more up front with your customers. You have a lot of nerve charging $20 a day for resort fee when this is far from a resort in the current state. On our way out I heard that this property will become a Sheraton. That means this review will not mean anything in a few months...
Nice hotel but in renovation- no pool
The hotel rooms are nice and spacious, and it is conveniently situated next to a lot of shops and restaurants. The parking is big and they valet park your car for free. The only negative thing is the big renovation of the pool area. This looks really depressing, a big hole with works ongoing.
Do not book while under major construction!
This hotel is totally under construction and will not scheduled to be completed until late September at the earliest. Construction starts early and is noisy. Pool is closed and beach is not type to swim in as it has too many hazards. Do not book this hotel without asking if the construction is complete!
Great Nights Stay
We stayed here one night before checking into our condo for the week. We arrived to the hotel after 10pm on Friday night since our flight arrived that evening and then we went to get food before heading to hotel. Check-in was easy. Parking wasn't bad but gets full in the evenings. We were on the 4th floor with a room facing mountains.. nice view which we saw the next morning. Room was very nice. Loved the vaulted ceilings on this floor. Beds were comfortable and everything was very clean. One of the lights near the bed wasn't working properly and wouldn't turn off. We were too tired to care that night after flying half the day so it didn't bother us much. We walked outside on the property the next morning for sunrise pictures. Nice area.. beaches were not really swim-able though. There were some chairs near the beach which was great to just sit and take in the view. I did notice the pool area closed off for renovations. We did know about renovations prior to our stay but it didn't bother us since we were only there for the night and were out exploring that morning after checking out. Overall good stay for us.
It was just OK
I guess for the price, it's not bad. They obviously dropped the room rate because they are renovating. There is no pool-just a large pit where the newly renovated pool will be some day. So if you are at the "bar" you will have a nice view of a pit. The key card lock to my room worked sporadically and I had to get 4 new keys and advise the front desk 3 times that there was an issue with the lock. Each time the front desk clerk dutifully told me engineering would come out and fix it. The Engineering guy came out once, messed around with the lock for about 3 minutes and said he needed to get some more tools. He never returned. I hope he's ok. I stayed a week and noticed housekeeping had not cleaned my room for the first two days. On the third day, House keeping rolled by at around 5pm (which is a new experience for me). I could hear them trying to get in the room and since the lock was not working, they'd give up. I waited by the door like a gargoyle and granted them access so they could clean my room. I repeated this process for the rest of my trip, which wasn’t convenient. The room and bathroom were quite nice, especially for the Motel 6 price. For a mid range hotel, the TV was rather large. Aloha and mahalo.
