DO NOT STAY HERE. MAJOR CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY
As of June 2019, I do not recommend that you stay here. First of all, we were never informed that construction (really its more like demolition) was going on at the hotel and we booked back in February. They literally have an excavator and crane in the lobby of the hotel and there is lot of noise. There is jackhammers, grinders and all kinds of equipment. I would have attached videos so that all of you could see just how loud the noise is but the site won't let me so see the photo below of this little boy covering his ears because its so loud. If you go in expecting a resort with a pool, restaurant, or anything else you would expect from a Marriott, don't, they have all been demolished. They informed us when we arrived that construction only last between 9am - 5pm but on multiple nights we came back to the room and they were still hard at work at 7:30pm. They have this little side room they are calling a temporary lobby but wow, they have cheap fold up tables and printed out pictures on the walls. I just couldn't believe it. By far the worst marriott I have ever stayed at but I'm sure if you come here when the construction is complete it will be nice but who knows how far away that is. It was too late for us too move to a different hotel or cancel so please don't make the same mistake as us and go somewhere else.
Ok let’s be honest
Is it under construction yes. If you want to swim in a pool, hang out for hours and eat at the hotel this isn’t currently a good place to stay. However if your looking for a reasonable price central location to sleep while visiting Kauai I’d do it. We are reward members and stayed 4 nights. We requested away from construction and had partial ocean view- it was what we got and we liked our room. They also accommodate us for early arrival (free- because room was ready ) We only eat there one night, limited menu but was fine. We had resort fees waved(which I think was appropriate seeing the construction) you have to just deal with construction. We’d easily stay there again if we return. Looks like it will be beautiful. As for place to eat. Just a short walk or drive is some excellent places to eat.
Great room condition and friendly staff!
Even though the construction is still going on, we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel thanks to friendly staff and spacious room. Since there are great beaches everywhere in Kauai, the construction and no pool did not bother us at all. We will definitely recommend this hotel. Plus, the food at this hotel is amazing and the price is very reasonable. Both breakfast and dinner menu were great!
The staff was nice and tried there best to accommodate us if we needed anything. There was so much construction but it didn’t really bother us since we couldn’t hear it and we were out most of the day anyway. The rooms were really nice and updated. We stayed on the 4tb floor and the ceilinga were vaulted so it made the room feel much bigger. It was a little inconvenient without amenities like the pool and restaurants but for the price I paid to be central it is what it is. I can’t wait to come back after the hotel is remodeled.
Hotel Tried Hard, but Marriott Should Have Warned Better.
Really not sure why so much construction is going on all at once. I have never seen a hotel under this much construction at one time. First the positives. Room was very nice on 4th floor with limited view of ocean. Really liked the wood floors and the fact the room was not a typical rectangle. Balconies were small. Two chairs on the balcony looked silly as they were touching each other it was so tight. The dining room was totally makeshift but the food and quality was very good. Staff in the restaurant was friendly and tried to be accommodating. Really difficult to get around as the construction and paths changed daily. I ended up using back elevator which helped in avoiding the lobby area. At minimum they should have waived the resort fee and warned customers better. Parking was difficult and lots of illegal parking necessary. I did like the beach but too steep and dangerous for swimming but a nice walking beach. If Marriott was going to take this aggressive of a construction schedule they probably should have closed the hotel.
