Good value considering the GC prices
My wife and I were booked into the Comfort Suites as this is the hotel the company uses whenever it is in GC. Its a short 15 minute and $18.75 US from the airport. Everywhere accepts US dollars though the hotel does change to CI$ on request. After a speedy check in our room was on the 5th floor. I had emailed in advance to ask if it was possible to be upgraded free of charge to a king bed and this had been actioned. The room was large with a huge bed, a sofa, desk and a small kitchenette with a microwave and fridge. The bathroom is small for 2 sharing but more than adequate. Good wifi throughout the hotel and they have a small area to print boarding passes that is free to use. On check in we received a large sheet of tear off reductions for local restaurants and attractions - 10% - and every little helps. A big plus for the Comfort Suites is the included breakfast. Whilst not changing much during the week there were a choice of juices, cereals, breads, waffle making machines and scrambled eggs and rotating sauages and bacon. Martin who looks after breakfast is ever so helpful and made my wife gluten free bread and fried eggs when requested. There is a lovely pool that is pretty deep - 8ft at one point - but probably for the scuba divers. Very shallow to get in and very warm. There are plenty of sunbeds around the pool and there were always some free. The Stinger Bar and Grill is also by the pool, see separate review. Great that there are chickens around the pool and the chicks are ever so sweet but they now have no fear in coming onto the tables to pick up scraps! The beach is the biggest disappointment and there is nothing the hotel can do about it. Erosion caused by storms has seen the beach shrink quite dramatically over the years and there are now just 30 chairs - 10 of them in the water - when apparently a few years ago there were 50. It impacts on the Marriot next door and considering what they are paying this must be galling to arrive and see such limited sand. In a few years there will be no beach at all unless the authorities do something. The beds are uncomfortable if sitting on all day given they are not level as the beach slopes. The staff are all very friendly and it is a popular hotel (no doubt given the prices). Whilst we were there the hotel had been sold to DART - so there must be some uncertainty as to whether it remains the same. The rooms do lack a balcony but the garden became our balcony at evenings. Also there are no changing facilities if you leave after the 11 am check out which could be something to alter. Maybe something by the gym. All in all though a good value for money hotel close to a number of restaurants and with friendly staff.
Visiting to find an apartment for my daughter and tour her university.
Comfort Suites was a great place to stay. The staff was excellent, including the front desk, maintenance, dining room (great breakfast), poolside, etc. The room was clean and serviced each day. The location was wonderful on Seven Mile Beach. Easy access to any other location by public bus, taxis or walk.
I really enjoyed my stay. Stayed in the top floor which is the 5th. Enjoyed the pool which was never too cold. The location of the hotel is awesome you can walk to Camana Bay for some shopping or restaurants. We rented a car and parking was free and easy. Breakfast was good but I don’t eat pork. One of the workers Martin went out of his way to get me turkey bacon so that I believe is awesome service. Thank you so much for a memorable stay.
Nice Hotel for the Value
Our stay here was great! The room was nice and clean every day. We had WiFi, hot/cold shower, air conditioning, and comfortable beds. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating to our every need. Martin, at the free breakfast buffet, was exceptional! Whatever we needed, he gladly did for us. Stingers has delicious food and is reasonably priced (all of GCI is pricey because of the exchange rate they impose). The pool area is small but is large enough for kids to play and cooling off after being on the beach in the evening. The beach area is VERY narrow, but we recommend Public Beach if you want more space and a wider, smoother beach to enjoy. The beach and water are just beautiful and blue/clear. It is rocky so watch where you step. Also, be aware that chickens are everywhere (not just at the hotel, but all over the island!). We had a great stay and can’t wait to return to GCI!
Clean place no beach
The Good: The room was great with kitchenette and two queen beds (comfortable), one of them in their own separate bedroom. It is on 7 mile beach drag and easy access to restaurants. Breakfast provided is all ways a plus. Also, that end of island has a reef that is super easy to snorkel. You can see some great stuff. We snorkeled every day. Short easy walk to “beach area”. The Bad: You are not on the beach as hotel is situated behind another hotel that is on the beach. Picture of beach is old and very deceiving. There is a very small to non esxsistant beach area designated for the guests. That end of 7 mile beach suffered terrible beach erosion. The entire beach on that end is sardine packed chairs ( front row of chairs is literally in surf). You can only fit three rows of chairs. Hotels surrounding your beach area is same way. On your right you only see chairs. On your left, there is a little open space, because not as many chairs were out. You can walk down beach about 5 minutes to more open space. You won’t have chairs, but there is room to spread out. If you don’t mind migrating down the beach a bit, the price point is good. Picture shows beach. You are the blue umbrellas. The white umbrellas are on beach to your right.
