Good place for the price
Compared to other hotels in the area, this was a bargain. Property is clean, pool is a nice size and enough lounge chairs. The Resturant connected to the hotel has decent food, they had an all you can eat buffet from 12-5pm on Sunday’s for 15 percent bucks which was really good. The rooms were clean and ok, again your not staying at a $500 a night hotel. Front desk and workers were attentive. Tips: make sure you check your fees which includes resort fee tax and added gratuity for each night. Beach is a few steps from the pool area. Note: The beach tide has now reached so far to the edge that there are only 5 chairs available on their property but you can use the neighboring hotel chairs as well. Get there super early or chairs will go quickly. Bring water shoes because you will not be able to enter the water barefoot because of the many rocks. Once in the water it’s beautiful. Area around the hotel is peaceful and walking distance to a few bars and restaurants. Cabs are very expensive! 25 US dollars from the airport to this hotel which is a 10 min drive. We took cabs to Georgetown and it was 15 US dollars for a ride of less than 10 min. I will say the cabs were spacious, clean and drivers were very professional. The big party night is Friday on the island because the bars and clubs close at 2am. Sat’s they all close at 12am. US dollar is lower than their dollar so be prepared to pay a little more. Example bud light at a really decent bar with dance music Sandbar(Georgetown) was $4.50 cayman and 5.25 US. 18 and over to drink on the island but I didn’t see one person get carded. Hotel area is safe, Georgetown was safe with no problems if you just don’t stray away to any unknown areas. Breakfast at the hotel was free with scrabbled eggs and a meat every morning. Juices, cereal and pastries. Good enough to start my day! If you are on a budget and are not spending to much time in your room I really recommend comfort suites. Thank you Cayman Islands for the hospitality!
Good for the price
Taxi from airport to hotel took about 15 minutes for $24 USD. Only cash accepted. The room was ok. Small but enough for 2 adults. The kitchenette had a coffee maker, plates, bowls, utensils, 2 dish cloths, dish soap ( no sponge). I liked the size of the refrigerator. The room had a safe but you have to pay $2.5 per night. Iron, ironing board in the room. Beach: Located a few steps from seven mile beach. Unfortunately there is not much beach to enjoy. You can still sit on a lounge chair but only one row of about 7 chairs will fit in the small stretch of beach. The beach is ROCKY. However, you can take your beach bag, walk along the beach and choose a place to put your towel and relax. We choose a place close to Royal palms. We found no need to rent a lounge chair. Breakfast: It was good. Hot and cold items. Fruits, yogurt, toast, pancakes, hard boiled eggs, bacon, scrambled eggs, cereal. There is a sign by the breakfast room stating that if you take a food item out of the breakfast room you will be charged $20. There is a room to store your luggage. WiFi worked perfectly. No reception at the beach. There is 24 hour coffee /tea and water station. Good choice for the price.
Good location affordable price
The hotel is a convenient location, and the hotel rooms had decent fridges, the pool is relatively small however the beach is better anyways, due to storms the white sand beach at the moment has actually eroded. We stayed here and made our way to governors beach a mile north large white sandy beach. The bed had been comfortable, and the beach towels had been readily available. The hotel also does not charge for parking, with plenty of spots available. There is excellent snorkeling in front of Marriott with the artificial reef. There is also excellent snorkeling a little south towards the rock formation, but the current gets stronger. The breakfast is basic and starts at 7 am eggs, cereal, waffles, a few fruits, and juices. The dive company on the property ambassador divers is excellent. They also offer mask rentals for $10 for 24hrs If your looking to purchase a mask, a dive shop is available across the street a little south from the hotel, but I suggest buying masks at home since they would probably be cheaper. The three stop snorkeling trip is a great deal at $53, and they leave 7 am before most other companies plus its smaller group sizes. Across the street, a car rental company is available Andy's reasonable rates, and you can return the car at the airport. I would suggest booking online 24hrs before since better prices are available. The taxi rate from the airport is about $34. The public bus system is available, costing about $3 per person. You can wave the busses down. They usually are sprinter vans with wording that says a public bus on the front. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. If your traveling on a budget, I suggest stopping at the supermarket Fosters. The one located at camana bay is super nice and picking up supplies is a good idea if you're trying to save a little money. The shopping center camana bay is located 15 mins walking distance from the hotel, offering great reasturant options. We would stay here again for sure, the price is affordable compared to other hotels and since most beaches have public access would rather spend the money on food and travel than on the hotel.
Not the Best
I had a short stay at the Comfort Suites, and I don't think I would repeat the experience. The first thing that struck me was how many signs there are by the breakfast room warning guests that if they take food items outside of the room they will be charged $20 for them. Not the best first impression, but it was an accurate one. Breakfast itself was absolutely fine, with cereals, toast, yogurts, and small pastries. It is fully self-service. The biggest issue is that the reception staff are under the misguided impression that adding "ma'am" to the end of every other sentence equates to politeness. It does not. That is not true customer service, and I found them to be straight faced, inflexible and almost dismissive. In contrast, the two maintenance men that I encountered were very helpful and nice. I had an issue with my room and the water was freezing when I took a shower. The room I had was dark and sparse; however, it was overall fine. It was clean, tidy and seemed well looked after. There is no direct access to the beach from the hotel, instead guests can access the beach through a public way on the side of the hotel, which isn't exactly the nicest way of making your way to the beach or indeed the hotel. Personally, I didn't find this hotel to be good value. I would prefer to spend a bit more and have a nicer experience, or stay a bit further in land and walk 5 or 10 minutes if it meant a nicer hotel with better customer service.
We stayed here for nine nights after flying into Grand Cayman for our son's wedding. Our stay was most enjoyable and comfortable. Our room was actually much nicer than it appeared on the website. We also had a number of friends staying at the same time. One couple had been offered an upgrade and their room was huge and very well appointed also. A bonus was a good quality breakfast offering each morning with fresh fruit and hot food that was tasty. This is included in the room rate. The assistant in the breakfast room is a lovely, polite and helpful young man. The room attendants were also very friendly. Minor issues are that although a microwave and toaster were provided in our room, there was no crockery or cutlery, so you could make toast, but had nothing to butter it with or put it on! Also, the hotel has a policy of towel change only every 3 days and the room attendants roll up towels and store them on shelves when they make up the room. These are minor things however. Tea and coffee are always available in the hotel reception area along with water. Food in the outside bar was very good. Pool towels are provided at reception and the pool area is very nice. This is a hotel where staff work hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible and it would always be our first choice when we return to the island. You certainly get value for money, so why stay anywhere else?
