Great First Time Trip to St. Lucia

It was my first time visiting St. Lucia and staying at Coconut Bay. It was the idle place to accommodate us. It really sets the bar as an all-inclusive resort. Great, hospitable and friendly staff too like Jenae, Leeran, Mauvias, Harley, Sarah & Linvia. Great entertainment too and fun activities. Would definitely visit again and recommend to others. Close proximity to the airport is also a plus. Thanks for the great experience and memories at Coconut Bay, till next time😊.

Coconut Bay is an Awesome Family Resort

I have nothing but good things to say about this resort. After reading an article that listed Coconut Bay as a top family all-inclusive resort, we decided to give it a shot. We were not disappointed! It's an older resort, but the rooms have been updated nicely. The facility is well maintained and updates are performed annually. As a parent, this place was perfect for us. They had fun things for our kiddo almost every night. She made lots of friends and loved it. They have a swim-up bar for not only the adults, but the kids as well! Everyone we met was friendly and engaging. We had an issue with our balcony door sticking when we arrived and maintenance promptly addressed the problem. The guys at the Jerk Treehouse were awesome (Marvius and Harley, here's looking at you, sirs!). They took great pride in their food and the fish at the Jerk Treehouse was the best at the resort (it was good elsewhere, but SO good there). Some of our other favorite things were: The Pool on the Splash Side - it is huge! This is definitely Number 1 and where we spent the majority of our time. The Lazy River and Water Slides French Toast at breakfast (it's at the waffle station, took me 5 days to realize this. You're welcome.) Nightly Entertainment Jesse J and Princess at the bar Kayaking Excursions - We booked ours through the resort. I would DEFINITELY recommend the snorkeling, mud bath, Diamond Falls and botanical garden. The resort hooked us up with an awesome guide who acted as our own personal photographer and took the best pictures! We would've missed out on so many captured memories if not for him. I'm trying to remember all the awesome things, but it was all awesome. We will definitely be back, hopefully for longer next time. If you're on the fence, give them a try. We cannot wait to get back!

    Don't miss Paradise Beach!

I went to Coconut Bay Beach Resort in Vieux Fort recently, and was very pleased. I get away to the Caribbean pretty regularly, and recently had a pretty bad stay at another resort in Punta Cana, so this was a very nice rebound. I liked this resort a lot. There really wasn’t anything to complain about… nothing bad at all, though honestly, nothing over the top either. It’s a great bang for your buck, and if you know where to look, you can find an exceptional beach, which, in my opinion, moves this resort from 3 to 4 stars. I feel like I need to address a couple of things first: #1. This is a quiet resort. I found myself asking, “where is everyone?” It’s not as though the place was empty; you see plenty of guests at breakfast and dinner, but during the day it was frequently empty by the activity pool, and at night, it was near empty around the lobby bar. This is not a complaint from me at all… but if you’re looking for action, it might be too quiet for you. #2. The resort bills itself as a “premium all-inclusive,” and while it is very nice, I would say that’s a stretch. Everything was very nice, and indeed, there were a few high-end aspects to the resort, such as the liquor, but the rooms were pretty basic, there was no booze, juice or soda in the refrigerators, the buffet was limited, and the entertainment was unspectacular. Don’t get me wrong, I liked the resort a lot and would even come back! But premium? That’s a stretch. #3. The beach is great if you know where to look. If you’re reading reviews, you may have read complaints about the beach. It’s on the east coast, or windward side of the island, so the water is choppy and the beach is covered in seaweed. This is only true about the portion of the beach right by the pools. If you walk 10-15 minutes north (make a left when you step on the sand and don’t stop when it first looks like you can’t go any further), you’ll be rewarded by a stretch of beach that rivals ay on the Caribbean or leeward side of the island. I didn’t realize it was there until a few days after I arrived, and I spoke with people at the resort while I was there and on the flight back home that never found it at all. Which is a shame, because I think it’s the resort’s greatest selling point, much more so than it’s label as a “premium” resort. What else? The restaurants were ok. I didn’t pay to go to any of the restaurants that required extra money because I wasn’t terribly impressed by the ones that were included. Again, they weren’t bad, I just thought they were average. There are a couple of exceptions… If you are staying on the adult’s only side, you can have an a la carte breakfast outside at the Veranda Restaurant (upstairs from the lobby), which was really nice. You get to skip all the families, lines and noise of the lobby. The Jerk Shack near the lazy river and water slide was also really good and the snack bar (between the activity pool and splash pool) was a reliable choice. Also, don’t skip the “theme dinners” around the pool. These may sound a little hokey and you might imagine that you’re better off with an a la carte meal those nights, but trust me, this is the way to go. Instead of having a buffet inside, they set up tables and buffet beside the splash pool. There’s entertainment and the food matches the theme (like BBQ and country music for Country night). The pools are really pretty at night, the breeze makes it comfortable, and it might be the only time you get to see just how many people are staying at the resort. The drinks here were very good. Piton (the local beer) is always on tap, as were a couple of other beers. There was always a drink of the day and also a drink specific to each restaurant. Give it a try and you might find something new. If you’re a fan of a dark and stormy or Moscow mules, they make these with soda water and fresh ginger puree. I drank a lot of dark and stormy’s! The rooms were fine. It appears that they were recently redone, though they're still very basic. The bathrooms seem even more recently renovated (new tile) though the shower itself was still small, with an older shower head that refused to stay in place until I rigged it in place with my girlfriend's hair ties. I upgraded to the Harmony Side of the resort because that was adult's only, but I don't think there's any difference between it and the Splash side except that you may see children in your hallways. That, and you wouldn't have access to an a la carte breakfast. But if you're an adults staying on that side, you can still go to the adult's only pools and there's nothing special in your mini fridge. The resort does offer a concierge-level, but I doubt the value is on par with the cost. There's also the Serenity portion of the resort, which places you in a more private section of the resort, further away from the beach. I honestly don't see the point in that. The pools were clean and spacious. The pools on the adults on side (which is where I was staying) were small and less appealing to me than the activity pool, which was EMPTY every day. Honestly, I would look around at times and not see another soul seated around the area, let alone in the pool itself. The only time I found myself in the splash pool was when they had the foam party (every Friday, don’t miss it!), but even then, it wasn’t packed. Again, where was everyone? Paradise Beach was fantastic. Very few people there, which means you have much of the beach to yourself, not to mention the bar and bathrooms there. You wouldn’t expect to have amenities at that part of the resort because of how far it is, but there they are. It’s really close to the airport. This would be annoying if there were a lot of planes taking off and landing, but there aren’t. The resort offers free transportation to and from the airport, though I paid for private transport when I booked. It was cheap because it’s so close. It’s a coin toss… free, but traveling with strangers vs. paying a little more to be alone. Staff was very friendly. Like, genuinely friendly. If you say, “how are you” in passing to someone, be prepared to stop and have a chat. It was great. Another big selling point in my opinion. My final opinion? A nice resort that’s family-friendly, close to the airport, and really affordable, especially compared to some of the other resorts on the Caribbean side of the island. If you want to try something further afield than Cancun or Punta Cana, but don’t want to break the bank… or if you simply don’t want to take a long, bumpy drive for hours when you first arrive, Coconut Bay Resort is a great option!

    Amazing Place!

My mom took us on vacation to St Lucia at the Coconut Bay Resort & Spa as a gift. It was absolutely amazing! The accommodations were fantastic and all of the pools, water park and beaches were out of this world. But the thing that put the vacation over the top was the staff. Everyone treated us kindly and were so sweet. Every morning we woke up to have perfectly made french toast, waffles and pancakes by Emee, Kenny made sure that we had every single thing we wanted or needed to enjoy all of our meals and greeted us like family every time, and Jessie the bartender made sure that the drinks were flowing with a smile all day long. We will definitely never forget this vacation and recommend it to everyone!

    St Lucian Solution

We chose Coconut Bay in part because of the great ratings it receives. We arrived early on a Saturday and the transfer was seamless. It took maybe an hour from landing, baggage, customs, transfer and in the lobby checked in. Initially I was disappointed in the property itself. Rooms and grounds are dated but still very well maintained. It didn't take long to find our way around and sink into the 'all-inclusive' aspects. Truly, the resort is very tropical and coconut trees abound. Very cool! There's always a sea breeze. Sometimes more so then others. If you are looking for kid activities they have them with a very outgoing activities group. Friday was a Pool Party and fun suds filled the pool. The beach was not a place we visited often. The seaweed was managed but not the kind of water you want to swim or Snorkle in, unless you went up to Serendipity beach. Water kayaks were lots of fun though. Out excursions included Rainforest Zip line, Snorkle n Sail, and beach horseback riding. Thumbs up to all except maybe the horse back riding where the bulk of your time is spent on trails through the St Lucian country side. ~ ask our kids what they enjoyed the most they tell you the kids SWIM UP BAR! Our girls loved the waterslides and lazy river too. The meals were ok, never bad, some better than others, Calabash was excellent! The theme dinners on the pool deck were top notch. The Jerk Tree house was incredible. Service by the FOH service staff was top notch too! ~ including Nicole and Dre and other servers on the pool deck. I've never had someone wait on me in a lounge chair in an all inclusive. Dory at Flip Flops was great too. Our kids loved the self service nacho station at Flip Flops. We paid a little extra $ for a late checkout, due to a late flight out. Front desk was always very friendly and helpful. As was the activities desk.
