  Relaxing beach vacation

  I was not sure what to this when we drove past the resort on the highway. I thought “that can’t be it” in horror as it looked run down and so close to the highway. However, this resort exceeded our expectations. This is the perfect size resort with an amazing beach and lovely grounds. I enjoyed all the restaurants and buffet for lunch and breakfast. Pretty good food for an all inclusive. Lots of veggies, beans, legumes, and fruit. Loved the juice bar at the beach. (Except the time we had plastic bits in our juice). Service was great everywhere. Entertainment staff engaging, and had some fun playing games. Some improvements would be a little welcome snack and drink. There was nothing when we arrived very late at night and exhausted. This would have been a nice welcome. No late night/ 24 hour snack place. Instead there is room service that was hit or miss, sometimes waiting almost an hour. No buffet at night-except for Saturday Mexico night. Reservations, sit down only. There really should be a buffet option every night , or no need for reservations at a la carte. It’s a long drive from Cancún airport. Otherwise I really enjoyed this resort and would definitely recommend.

  The very best Beach in the Riveria

  My Husband and I spent a fabulous 7 days at CRT on Jan 09-16. We are no strangers to the Riveria, but had not been to a Catalonia resort. Below I have my top 5 reasons we would return with a few opportunities for improvement as well. 1. The Beach. Oh how we loved the beach. Maybe the best beach we’ve been to in Mexico and we’ve been to Mexico a lot. The sand, the waves, the walk ability, loads of available chairs ( we were premium, but I saw lots of every chair available) clear water. Drink service. It was fantastic. We spent only 1 afternoon at the pool. 2. The Hotel grounds. Very well maintained, lots of wildlife, well lit at night, and very safe feeling. There are open air restaurants that are just beautiful for dinner. ( Beloved and the Asian restaurant) 3. The work Force. The people were wonderful, helpful, patient, and fun. They operate on Mexican time, and so should you while you’re there. Slow down enjoy the pace. It’s why you’re there. 4. Most of the food. We’re not picky eaters, but we do love good food. I went into the resort having read reviews here, nervous about the food. As the week progressed it just got better and better. We almost skipped Rauxa having read the food was “terrible”. The short rib was rich and delicious. The performance was also very cool! The Asian restaurant has very very good sushi and sashimi, the tuna appetizer at Beloved was excellent. The Burger at the Grill was excellent. We loved the made to order omelettes at the breakfast buffet with fresh fruit and juices. It was all very good. 5. Room cleaning. The very best we’ve had on our travels. And 2 times per day. They are efficient and the rooms are sparkling in the morning and cleaned and turned down for you at night, with fresh towels again. Extra bonus: we left our safe open one day. Lots of cash, passports, jewelry and electronics in it. They closed it for us and left a note to call the front desk for the code to open. Just classy. Opportunities to make it even better: Night activities: they try really hard but they need a bit more experience and budget to get people involved. The team that run it are very young and maybe need some experience. They could make their theme nights more exciting. We’ve been to some great parties at other resorts. Lobby bar: this could use some extra help bringing more people to the lobby for cocktails before the evening activities start. It’s a bit sleepy and disjointed. Perhaps games, Or karaoke to get people participating. Spa: we spent a day at the spa having massage and facials. They were wonderful but the spa itself is tired. The indoor whirlpool was not very warm, the saunas were not working and the steam room was limited to 20 mins. It also looked to have some construction going in places. It’s a hefty cost to go, it should align with the full experience. Room: the room was fine, clean and spacious. The toilet seat was broken when we arrived, the phone didn’t work and the reading lights were loose and hanging from the wall. We had them fix the toilet and they did right away. It would go a long way to have those small items fixed and working as well as scent injected into the rooms. You’re in the jungle so it’s very damp. There’s a definite “smell” in the rooms. Spray that you could use, if you want or a Vapor that you could plug in would be great. We would definitely return. What a wonderful week.

  Very good experience

  Let’s say it was really important for me and my wife to choose the right place for our 25th anniversary and I’m happy we’ve made the right choice. It was calm and relaxing on one hand and had enough vibes to be entertaining on the other. What was the best part? Staff! I stayed in many hotels and that was probably one of the most professional, friendly and helpful personnel I’ve met. Everyone starting from receptionists and barmen and ending by cleaners and waiters. Not a single unpleasant situation. Everything was organized so good and fast that it was pretty surprising. We even were given a room before check in time. That we highly appreciate. And of course thanks to Diego, Charlie, Abraham, Shamed, Tita, Paulina from an entertainment team. There is no theatre or something in this hotel so it was up to the guys to keep guests entertained, They handled it very well. Second, cleaness. Good job, guys! Rooms, territory, restaurants, beach - everything was really shiny. Third, beach and pool. Really really good impression. Pool is clean, warm and deep. And there is always a lot of room for every guest. Finally, territory. It’s some kind of tropical paradise with lush trees, ponds with exotic fish and small animals. We really loved to sit on the balcony with a cup of tea and enjoy the view. Now a little bit of critics. Unfortunately the water pressure in our room wasn’t strong enough. May be because hotel itself is a little bit outdated. Not a big deal though. Then food could be more diverse. It was ok for us, because we stayed only for four days, but it could be an issue for people staying longer. Think about adding more seafood and veggies, may be more cakes or something like that. Think about more diverse cocktails menu. Your barmen are great and they always made us something unusual, but still… In general, I would recommend this resort for adults of my generation and older (45-95 years old). May be not the best option for young people of the age 25-35. As I said it’s a chill, relaxing (and very well organized) place. Thank you, guys!

  Perfect all around place

  Love the size, friendliness and everything about this wonderful resort. Second time here because the first time was just that wonderful. Everyone there really wanted to make us feel special Very well kept up all the time. Rooms were perfect!

  Joyful Trip beyond my expectations

  I travelled with my 70yr old mom to this resort from Canada. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. We especially enjoyed Angela at the buffet restaurant who greeted us with kindness and a smile. I personally am grateful for the entertainment staff Diego, Abraham, Charlie and especially Shamed. As I was alone sometimes without company while my mom rested, they made my trip more joyful by always including me and encouraging me to have fun in the activities. For reference I am 39. I don’t eat dairy or meat and I never went hungry. The staff were always accommodating and happy to recommend or alter menu items for me. It is a truly magical place and I hope to return one day, but if not, my heart is full and this trip was a dream.
