Pre Christmas break
The staff were all helpful and friendly. A beautiful location with swimming pool, white sand and places to visit. Very clean and pleasant room with a balcony. Cenote close by and we swam with turtles. A wonderful break if you want some winter sun as not too hot.

Will definitely come back!
OMG… where to start. We had the best time ever. The hotel is really nice, facilities look clean and modern (the room we got was kind of outdated, but clean and nice nonetheless). Location is key to some activites outside the resort as cenotes and cultural activities. The beach is very beautiful! We ate a lot at B-loved. The food is amazing and they have a lot of choices. Shoutout to the amazing team welcoming us with a smile everyday (breakfast, lunch, and even snacks and dinner). Thank you Manuel, Argel,Esther,Sandy,Alejandra,Alix and the chefs! Our favourite theme restaurant was the asian. We did not have a chance to try the buffet. The staff in the bars all around the hotel welcome you and help you pick between their amazing drink menu. As for the general ambiance of the hotel, super nice. There are a few coaties roaming around. Super cute and friendly and won’t approach you if you don’t want to. The pool is big and there is always a calm environment to relax. That does not mean boring: the fantastic entertainment team has always something planned. Volleyball, bingo, trivia, dancing.. you name it! Abraham Charlie and Shandel for always putting a smile on our faces (and keeping us fit). The catamaran is a great experience as well, and Dexter helped us pick an excursion to go see the turtles. To summarize: too good to be true! Hope to come back soon.

Underwhelming stay in Paradise
I’m a Canadian and I live in Cancun. I frequent a LOT of resorts in the area. This trip was a girls trip with 6 women celebrating my Moms 70th birthday. I will share my positives and the areas this hotel gets to do better in. FOOD 👇🏻 The food overall was very good. Most service was exceptional. The Asian restaurant was the exception and had horrible service and a pathetic hostess with this big attitude. Room service was slow (if it arrived at all) and not great quality. BEACH 👇🏻 Magical beach area. Very pristine private - it’s a true paradise. Sadly the beach chair situation is HORRIBLE and for this reason we won’t return. We reserved chairs by 7-730am daily (someone had to set an alarm to get up on our vacation to do this) as if you don’t do this you won’t get a chair. The hotel needs to seriously improve here. We had a fight with two men that stole our chairs and the entire area got involved. We were actually scared we were going to be attacked by these two guests. Everyone was screaming at each other! No security or staff anywhere to be seen. This is low class and really sad for a 5 star hotel. Not acceptable at all. Guest relations did eventually come to the beach with security but this didn’t solve the problem. They need to do better here! Beach chairs need to be provided for EVERY GUEST in the hotel. Or don’t sell rooms! Period. GROUNDS AND ROOMS 👇🏻 If you’re in the upgraded or privileged rooms you’ll enjoy. If you’re in a basic room get ready for mildew/mold smell, dated rooms and noisy rooms. The grounds have a lot of nature and are beautiful. CHECK-IN & OUT 👇🏻 65 minutes to check-in with only one family in front of us. Reception was a mess. Check out was quick but not one person asked us how our stay was. VALUE 👇🏻 If you get a sale here and you expect a 4 star experience, this is what you’ll get. I won’t stay again. The fight at the beach was enough to have me walk away from Catalonia forever. This resort could be really a 5 diamond experience (the beach is one of the best in this area!) but sadly they aren’t elevating it to this level. I hope this review was helpful!

Don't trust false promises
I am very disappointed and angry with Catalonia Royal Talum. We had some issues when we stayed there and were promised a full refund of the cost of a weeks upgrade we paid for. Despite several conversations with customer service (Miguel and Lenis) after 6 weeks this refund has not been paid. They had initially said it would be paid within 3 weeks. This has left us never trusting Catalonia Hotels again, and we will never return or recommend them. Anyone visiting in the future, beware of their false promises.

Average resort
Check in was very smooth, welcome drink and cold towel. Rooms are super average, what you’d expect from a regular average hotel, single sink bathroom, nothing extraordinary. No bathtub which was really disappointing. Bed wasn’t comfortable, furniture dated. Room was loud. Could hear everything on either side of room, tv’s etc and in the room above. Arrived at midnight, only option after long day of travel was room service. Took an hour and arrived cold and soggy, inedible. Went to bed hungry. Beach is gorgeous but towel game in strong and no loungers available if you don’t claim one before 8 am. Very little shade, only palm trees, no palapas. Service around pool was severely lacking, ordered a drink the one time I was offered and it never came, she walked around and ignored me every time she passed me after. Drink service at all restaurants was very slow and no coffee available. Had to go and get our own. Enjoyed the Rauxa show and dinner otherwise everything was very underwhelming. Best restaurant was the snack bar. Not a single person asked how our stay was or checked in the entire week. Weren’t even asked at check out. Housekeeping staff was excellent. Prodive on site was excellent. Only approached once by ETC club and no sellers bugging us on beach. Small resort but still a decent walk to the beach. Jungle feel and lots of wildlife.
