Pool chair nightmare
I am definitely writing this review in anger. We had a great time at this resort last year and returned once more, hoping for the same experience. As it is usual in resorts, people tend to find sunchairs for themselves in the morning and reserve them. The hotel is not full this week, but finding chairs in the shade, that is aligning with your preference (not loud with all day party, for example) is a challenge. This morning, the pool manager named Jonathan removed our bath towels and personal belongings from the chairs and by the time we got to the ambient pool, there were no free chairs in the shade. We learned this from the guests sitting there. I talked to this manager. He is telling me that I need to take my stuff with me if I spend more that. 5-10 minutes away from our chairs. Despite this talk, there are no more available chairs during the day. It seems that pool staff expect guests to look at their watches while hanging out in the pool - this is not how people like to behave while on vacation. Don’t get me wrong, I understand how it is unfair to reserve chairs that I am not using. However, there is no place to put my personal belongings next to the pool or the beach. Nor there are enough chairs to always find somewhere to sit. All I saw this morning was frustrated guests wailking around looking for their stuff. I do not understand how this practice benefits the hotel or the guests here. I would suggest to fix the systemic issues first - number of chairs and umbrellas and then go for the guests who just try to have a good time.

First family vacation
We really enjoyed our week at Catalonia grand. The staff were friendly and everything was very clean. We got a family suite with a pool and were very happy. I think we lucked out because our pool was quite private compared to all the rest we saw and we also got the afternoon sun to warm it up. It was room 3007. The beach was beautiful and we never really had a problem finding a chair. The only complaint I have was that in the mornings I would have liked a caeser or Bailey’s and coffee, but couldn’t find a place to get one even though the app said that certain bars should be open. All in all it was a great trip and we would return.

Disappointing
We attempted to share our concerns with management but they did not make themselves available despite repeated requests. We selected the hotel for a family vacation which include a total number of 12 adults. When picking the hotel, we looked for several features including a gym and many food options. The gym was basically not functioning as the air conditioning wasn’t working for several days. It was not possible to exercise given the temperature in the gym and lack of air flow. We were repeatedly told the air conditioning would be fixed tomorrow but it didn’t get fixed. This was a big disappointment to those of use who exercise daily. Dining was also an issue. While there were several types of restaurants on the property, most required reservations for dinner. Reservations need to be booked on the hotel website. Availability was often limited or not available at all. Most people in our party were not able to book dinner reservations. We reached out to the front desk for assistance but they weren’t able to help. The default option was the cafeteria that was loud, noisy, congested and lacking in ambience. There are other things that are annoying about the hotel but apparently management doesn’t care what guest think - so why waste our time typing them. The 2 star rating reflects our inability to get resolution during our stay although we repeatedly tried to get management’s attention.

The service is above and beyond our waiter Diego is amazing and has gone the extra mile to make our dinner one of the best I’ve ever had. Thank you so much for your kindness and service.
