*Important Information for our guests*
The Dominican Republic imposes various restrictions each year for Easter. The restrictions usually begin the Thursday prior to Good Friday, and run a few days past Easter Sunday. The following regulations may be enforced:
*Motorized and non-motorized watersports may be banned
*Alcohol consumption may be restricted (most resorts obtain a special permit which enables them to serve alcohol to non-native persons during the ban)
*Music may be limited or silenced
These rules are designed for the safety of everyone, as beaches get extremely busy during this period.

Worst stay ever
I'm shocked how comes this hotel have a Certificate of excellence from Tripadvisor and who is all these people who giving so good reviews are they real? Not Privileged rooms are in very bad conditions you can find cheaper hotels close to this one and they will be much better, first 2 rooms what we was offered didn't have a hot water, lots of dust Beach towel looks like 20 years old loose colour and halls Room service didn't work you need to call 2-3 times to get your order My iPhone earphones disappeared from the room so be careful with that as my friend had the same problem! Chairs in main buffet are in birds poo I been there for two weeks and no one clean them Pool area and its just shame to Catalonia Food and drinks were average Another story when local people coming on a weekend there was so many issues with them, you want to find any security or pool concierge, so many people complain about the behavior but you guys know that and nothing has done. You have plenty problems in Hotel I'm not recommending to anyone to stay in Catalonia hotel's waste of money and you will be dissapointed of real face of that hotel. This is my 3 time in Dominican republic but after that hotel not sure if i wanna come back.
Overall a wonderful holiday
We went to the hotel in late October for 14 nights. We had paid extra for a superior room, so amongst other things, we had use of a separate section of the beach. The complex facilities are very good and everything is kept as clean as possible. They seem to be in the process of updating some of the rooms. The food was excellent with lots of choice. All of the staff are extremely helpful and cheerful. Yes there was seaweed on the beach, but that isn't the hotel's fault and their staff work very hard to clear the beach daily. The entertainment staff are very enthusiastic and hard working. From doing exercise classes on the beach at 10 am to making sure they dance with any lady who wants to take part at 10pm. There are a few points that were disappointing. The block that we were staying in appeared to have a drainage problem and we had to ask to move to another room, which the hotel were happy to arrange for us. This problem wasn't in the other parts of the complex we used, just in that block. As another family mentioned, there is a club in the complex and on the second Saturday of our stay there was an open air disco which went on until 3am. Apparently this was a special celebration and isn't a normal occurrence. We would have appreciated being warned that this was happening because even with noise reducing headphones, you couldn't sleep. There are sales men on the complex, trying to sell timeshares for the exclusive rooms. The first few times you say no is okay but they ask you every time you go down to the reception area, which can become tiresome. Overall we had a good holiday.
overall very good
just returned from the Catalonia having stayed 17 nights staying in the privilege junior suite, cant fault the excellent staff hard working and always a smile, the food has a good selection something for everyone. the pool is great , the beach is very nice yes there can be some seaweed after all it is a beach this will not spoil your swim and they clear what seaweed has come in early morning and very quickly. special mention to the coffee house outstanding service and coffee for all guests, and also the pure bar which is only for privileged guest , the grounds are lovely and well maintained. am not convinced if upgrading to privileged is really worth the extra.
If you want to relax, this is NOT your place
I Went to this hotel for 1 week at the beginning of November 2019, I was with my husband and my daughter. Not only the music was so loud (until 2h00 am) that the 3 of us had to sleep with ear plugs but it was that bad that we were feeling the vibration of the music in our bed. Really not a place to get some rest. You will be disappointed with your room. They are tatty, not very clean. All pictures you see on their Website are rooms of "privileged guest". From all the all-inclusive trips I made, this is from far the worst room I had. The sea have seaweed (they have to clean the beach every day) so it's not fun to swim into the sea unless you don't mind having A LOT of seaweed on you. Food and staff are probably the best of that hotel.
Everything excellent but not for solo
Everything in this resort is top excellent. Just very sad that entertainment is not helping solo costomers to enjoy more the place. Entertainment is mostly focused on groups. If you are sensitive to lonelyness do not go there. For myself i am at ease with solitude but it was more then i can handle. I recommend for couples or family. Sadly i liked the place and wish entertainment were more experienced.
