Situated at the ocean's edge, Castle Kona Bali Kai offers a unique lodging experience in the sunniest spot on Hawaii's Big Island. You can pull up a lounge chair where white sand and black lava rock mingle among tide pools. Enjoy the shade of palm trees will you listen to the surf. If you are lucky, you might spot a Hawaiian green sea turtle grazing in the water or sleeping in the sand. The lava rocks shield the beach from waves and help to create small wading pools ideal for children.
Castle Kona Bali Kai has affordable, airy, and comfortable studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom oceanfront suites on the makai (ocean) side, as well as studio and one-bedroom units with ocean or mountain views on the mauka (mountain) side. Makai units are cooled with fans and the consistent ocean breeze, while most mauka units have air conditioning. Many of the units have a washer/dryer and there is an onsite laundromat for your convenience. Keep your kitchen stocked with fresh fruits and vegetables via the Island Grocery Delivery service, or from nearby Alii Garden's Marketplace. There is also a convenience store located just next door. If you are in the mood to cook, you will have access to multiple barbeques on the property, some with oceanfront views overlooking the tide pools.
On-site amenities include Miller's Surf Shop, the award winning Poke Shack (serving incredible fresh poke!), and a discount activities desk. The friendly front-desk staff can help you with your needs and give you the inside tips for "local" knowledge.
Almost every day ends with a spectacular sunset, so you can understand why Alii was the avenue of Hawaii's royalty. As you look for your special Kona condo, remember that Castle Kona Bali Kai provides endless adventures in any direction.

Be careful, the info given to us said they had elevators. They only have elevators in part of the property, So, if you have trouble with stairs, make sure you are in the correct spots. They tried to be helpful, but it was after dark and raining, so the process was difficult. Property seems a little run down. PLus, be very sure what unit you get if it does or does not have air conditioning.
Terrible dump stay away, nothing like the pictures, no A/C in the rooms and very deteriouted place, run down furniture. ceiling fans dont work, you can t leave windows open cause bugs come in so you cant enjoy the ocean view from outdoor balcony, scary looking place its not a resort its more like ghetto apartments they should not call it a resort and you have to pay all these cleaning fees they very bad experience the hotel didnt refund my money as they said they will stay away pay somewhere else
The crashing of the ocean right outside the lanai was awesome.
I have stayed at KBK several times in the past couple of years and there have been consistent high points. 1. the pool and hot tub area have always been clean and neat. 2. The grassy area between the condos and the ocean are always in good condition and the BBQ grills spotless. The outdoor grounds are generally kept very nice and having onsite 24 hour security patrols is helpful because these folks can answer almost any questions you have. Samantha at the front desk has always been very friendly and super helpful to me and my family. The condos themselves have great views however I have learned that some are in better shape than others. Because most are individually owned some units are nicer than others. I have found that each of the ocean front units have amazing views. If you are expecting a plush resoirt experience you should probably spend 3 or four times more money and stay up north. If you are looking for a super laid back experience then KBK is for you and your family. slipping into that comfortably worn favorite pair of slippers is what KBK reminds me of. When I visit I pack a few things from home and leave them for the next guest. Things like beach reading paperbacks, a little extra laundry soap, coffee filters salt/pepper etc... are always a pleasant find. I even left a boogie board behind last year for other to enjoy. I am not the only one who does this. The unit I stayed in this trip 310 was nicely set up and everything worked. WIFI worked well but I tried to leave all the electronics turned off. I don't know if the TV did because I never turned it on. Too busy watching the waves crash against the wall, surfers at the break, turtles in the tide pool and spinner dolphins swimming just off shore. You are on Hawaii time when you here. Don't be in a rush for anything, just relax and slow down! Don't expect a/c. The breeze is nice if you open the sliders and leave the front door open. Blows right through nicely. you are on the EDGE of the ocean, expect to hear the waves and feel the spray! two green flash sunsets too!
Worst bed ever!!!
The two stars are for the amazing view!!! I stay in hotels several nights per month, and I have never slept on e bed that was as hard as the kitchen counter, and covered in a sweaty plastic mattress. Every time that I rolled over, the mattress pad made a lot of noise everything I moved in bed. The bed was so hard that I could not sleep on my hip or back with out them hurting. That never happens, when I called to asked for a different room, the after hours person told me that it was 5:30 pm and nobody at work anymore to deal with problems or let me switch to another room! I spent part of the night sleeping on the couch, and that was not much better. I also was looking forward to a nice bath, and the unit only had a shower. Ugh.
Nice views ! Ocean front.
All these condo's are different, and owned by different people. But #205 we found on VRBO, the properties are managed by Vacasa. Our place had some nice upgrades to the kitchen, also very nicely equiped for cooking, newer appliances with a fairly new washer & Dryer, comfy King size bed in master that has a sliding door to lani, that looks straight out to the ocean, you could throw a rock to the water from the lani, but I'm sure you will find better things to do, like we watched surfers get in the water from before sunrise, throughout the day, and could watch the surf from the lani all day if you wish. Also seen whales, and dolphins from our room. Could not have made a better choice. AND... the price was better than many others we looked at that were not Ocean Front. I'm sure prices vary according to different time and peak season. But you won't be disappointed here. OH, one other plus is it has A/C but we only turned it on once in 9 days. Two nice showers, nicely updated. No tub.Free wifi, worked very well, private password secured. Cable tv. At least 55" screen and another tv in second bedroom. Much of the parking is covered, and allow for two spaces, but they are not designated.
