The view from our room was perfect. I loved sitting there the morning we checked out. Watched a ship cruise up close
I went back down to change rooms from a king to two beds. The lady at the desk was so sweet. I had earlier talked to her on the phone. When I saw her, she matched her sweet phone voice. She was quite thin, older than the other workers, and had beautiful flowers in her hair as well as appropriate Hawaiian dress. She was soft spoken and dealt with each guest calmly and nicely even though it was check in time at 3 or 4, and she had a lineup of people waiting. Why not have 2 at the front desk at high checkin/out times?
The hotel is located in a central location in Hilo which is ideal. My disappointment was having one of the few rooms that had a large tree outside the balcony which did not allow any View of the area. And the birds in the evening and early morning were so annoying.
Hilo Hawaiian - Second time.. not a charm
Stayed at the Hilo Hawaiian again this year. Had mold again in my bathroom; along the top of the bathtub and above the toilet. Changed room twice since both rooms had mold. Third room, no mold but the tv remote was yuck! Very dirty. On the upside, the front desk was nice and apologetically changed my rooms. With the new Naniloa hotel close by, this hotel really should consider cleaning and sprucing up their rooms.
Back to school vacation
Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Thank you for the water bottles. Rooms were clean. Although I would have preferred queen beds instead of double. We had coffee in the coffee shop and the waiter was very nice also. Our one day stay was okay.
Beautiful hotel on the bay
Very impressed with this hotel. Hotel staff were courteous and professional. Room was very large and well appointed. It was spotlessly clean. The view of the bay was quite magical. My only complaint- I hate paying resort fees on top of the rate. Display the full rate with all the extras on top.
