Customer Ratings & Reviews

We stayed here five nights in April 2019. We are not AI people because we like to eat and explore so Casa Mexicana with its centralized location was perfect for us. We do like a hotel with breakfast included - it takes a lot of guesswork out of the day if we can just go straight to breakfast from our room. The buffet here is really good with polite, efficient service. The hotel itself is clean and well appointed; we splurged for the an ocean view room and didn't regret it. We would happily stay here again. Recommended!
We felt like royalty with treatment from
Staff created this beautiful greeting for our 50th Anniversary. We had tears in our eyes. Staff are all so great. We feel right at home. Jamie is great and Alberto makes the absolutely best margarita in the world!! We can’t recommend enough, Definitely worth upgrading to ocean view rooms on higher floors!!
Wonderful 4 night stay
We recently had the pleasure to spend 4 nights here and we are happy to share our experience. The hotel is located 5 minutes from the main pier and in the heart of downtown. We had a 4th floor ocean view. Staff at reception was pleasant and helpful. Lobby is up the escalator on the 2nd level. Lobby is not air conditioned. Tiny poor in the reception area with a bar along side. Room was large, good working bathroom, nice balcony overlooking the sea. I believe the room had a minibar but nothing to consume. No bottles of water anywhere, had to go to 7-11 next door. Big comfy bed, AC worked perfectly, safe worked, room had iron and ironing board. For the price compared to the big resorts outside of town this is a gem. AND an excellent breakfast buffet!!
Not recommended for Divers
Pros: air-conditioned rooms, good wifi, good downtown location, decent swimming pool. Cons: horrible service, bad food, hotel not air-conditioned, no towels by pool, bottom floor is on the second story and is accessed by an escalator that may not be working. A local dive shop (Tres Pelicanos) recommended this hotel to us as it is a short walk to the dive shop, which is great. So, 7 months out from our stay, after reading many reviews, we booked a King room and thought we were set. Free Breakfast, Free WiFi, nice location, great reviews, what's not to like? However, because of some challenges with Travelocity, we needed to cancel out booking about 10 minutes after booking to re-book... the hotel said NO. No biggie, we still planned on staying there, but it was the first sign. Then, the day of our trip, our flights had problems and we were delayed a day. We had Travelocity contact them to let them know we were going to be a day late, despite the fact that our reservation said "room guaranteed for late arrival". Sadly, when we arrived, they were surprised and it was very clear, they had given up our room and were scrambling to find a solution while clearly lying to us. I don't mind, mistakes, just don't lie to me about it. Long story short, they got us a room, but when we opened the door it was 2 tiny beds, not a King, my wife returned to the desk and, in short, he said 'thats the best we can do'. Without using the room, we left and went out for a meal and returned, I asked again, this time, more lies, (including 'I can't move you now, you've used the room') and eventually conceded to work with us to get us a different room the next day. I explained that we had 4 tank dives the next day and had to be gone by 7:30 and likely wouldn't be back until after 5:00. Daniel said "no worries, we'll move all your stuff just make sure it is packed up and check in with the front desk before you leave in the morning" The next morning, we woke up and learned breakfast doesn't get served until 7:00 and as a side note the cooked food is mostly inedible - we bought tortillas for the remaining breakfasts (because of timing and quality). On our way out we stopped at the front desk and apparently annoyed whomever she was as she had no note from Daniel the liar. She did, however, get us a new room, right next door to the room we had. Imagine this, it was 7:35 in the morning and this king room was cleaned and ready to go but wasn't available the night before... yeah right....If that wasn't enough, they then made us move all our stuff! i had told Daniel we needed to be at the dive shop at 7:40, truly bad customer service! Beyond that, they have zero interest in helping direct you to local food and entertainment options other than to spout off recommendations that are clearly a result of some sort of shared agreement with those places. "show them your wristband (divers don't want wristbands!) and get 10% off!
