40th Birthday Getaway was perfect!
Just returned from a kick-ass birthday weekend with my husband, sister, and friend. It was a super quick trip - in on Saturday early afternoon, out on Monday early evening. We didn't have a whole lot of time, but I definitely feel like we made the most of it! Casa de Campo is a gorgeous seaside resort with a sprawling 7,000 acres of lush and meticulously manicured property, which includes the award-winning Teeth of the Dog golf course overlooking the Caribbean waters. Exotic plants and flowers make the landscape colorful, while plentiful mango, coconut, and vanilla bean trees make you want to climb and pick the fruit. Everything is clean, bright, colorful...looks and feels like paradise! TOP 5 FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT CASA DE CAMPO: 1. Golf carts!!!!! Each reservation comes with a 4 pax cart. Trust me, this place is like it's own little village so you'll need it. It's fun AND practical. 2. Service was impeccable. From the warm smiles and welcome glasses of chilled champagne (bonus!), to the daily morning greetings and speed of responsivenessm it was amazing. Yefri took great care of us upon check in, and somehow we got a free upgrade! Juan processed our check out and let us know we could still use the facilities since we weren't leaving for a few hours. It was all very smooth from start to end. 3. All-inclusive option. I love AI and will always opt for that because I think it's an overall better value for me and the way I like to vacation. But not everyone is down for that and I like that guests have a choice. We ended up eating at the same two restaurants, Lagos for breakfast and La Cana foir lunch and dinner, but there were plenty of other options. We just happened to like those and they were convenient to our rooms. Everything we ate was delicious. 3. Minitas Beach. 10 min in the golf cart, depending on where you are staying in the resort. The private beach for the resort is a soothing mix of turquoises and blues, fairly calm and super clear. The sand on the beach is fine, but once you get in the water it gets a little rocky. It wasn't a big deal, we grabbed our drinks and parked it in the shallow parts. Plenty of beach chairs, towels available onsite, snorkeling equip is available, complimentary, as is the beach service for food and drinks if you have the all-inclusive package. 4. Complimentary and unlimited horseback riding! We only had time to go once on Sunday afternoon, but it was awesome and so much fun. My horse was Bronzy, so spirited but obedient, I think we bonded. lol We would have definitely gone back if there was more time. 5. SECURITY & SAFETY: Not a moment did we feel unsafe, or that anything we ate or drank was tainted. The grounds were well patrolled, security was present and clearly visible, but not intrusive. We had the all-inclusive package, but oddly enough theirs doesn't include the mini-bar in the room. We had plenty to drink throughout the day at the various hotel restaurants and beach/pool bars - so we wouldn't have had anything from the mini bar anyways! Overall, it was a fantastic couple of days. Just what I needed to celebrate and relax. We will definitely be back.
Another wonderful vist!
With all of the news press about tourist and the Dominican Republic, I am compelled to write a review of this wonderful resort. This is our 2nd visit to Casa De Campo and definitely NOT our last. We absolutely love this resort. It is a gorgeous compound that is meticulously maintained and extremely safe!! We took our family here and plan to do it again. The quality of the food and drink along with the level of service is unbeatable! Casa de Campo....WE love you and you have our support!! See you again real soon
My husband and I stayed here late May into early June this year in celebration of our anniversary. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. Loved that you get your own golf cart and can come and go as you please on the grounds. The service was very good and staff attentive with the exception of the staff at the adults only pool. There was always more than 4 or 5 staff but you had to flag them down and ask for towels and to order drinks or food. They didn't come to you and but preferred to stay over under the shaded bar and talk amongst themselves. This happened all three days we were at the pool and was very frustrating. The ONLY waiter who was good was Adon Jacob Rodriquez, I wish he would have been there every day. We tipped him well. Management should work on this detail. We booked there most basic room, but upon check in then upgraded us. The room was nice, but no tub. The most basic room we booked indicated a tub, so not sure what the upgrade was really. The champagne at check in was a nice touch. Food- overall it was just ok. What we did like was the ceviche and calamari at Minitas Beach Club, the Steak at La Cana and the fish and shrimp tacos at the Mexican restaurant located in the Altos De Chavon area. Nightly music in the La Cana patio bar area was a nice touch. We did not do all inclusive and I think we made a good choice. Be sure to read the fine print to see what's included and what's not. My BIGGEST complaint is that on every bill you are charged a service fee, and a resort fee and then on top of that your supposed to tip. I travel a lot and tip well but when the service and resort fees range from $5- $17 USD plus per check and then a tip it can get pricey! Excursions - There are a lot to choose from. We went horseback riding, sporting clay shooting, five stand shooting, and the beach. All of these were fun and the staff great! Concierge is very helpful in making reservations. Lastly, in light of the recent news about three Americans dying at neighboring resorts and several others who fell ill, my husband and I felt uneasy the last day and of course on alert BUT we felt safe at all times and overall we had a nice time. In reflection, I think this hotel is a great location for a large family or group gathering, the Villas are nice and there is something to do for everyone. I like the fact that you can charge everything to your room and pay the bill upon check out. Easy.
Safety and service
We returned to Casa de Campo for a second year in a row. We were just there in May. Felt extremely safe. Have recommended to my friends who have plans to visit D.R. To go to Casa de Campo. Everything about it is over the top fabulous. I would go again tomorrow without any concerns. We love the beautiful rooms, grounds and the service in all the restaurants is amazing. Staff so very friendly and helpful. We especially loved Lago. But the food in every restaurant was excellent. Oh, you will never be bored. There is so much to do without leaving the property. Over 7,000 acres and a beautiful beach. I do recommend doing the all-inclusive. It’s the best way to go.
Had an exceptional experience. Beautiful place, extremely clean, friendly staff. Ramon was especially helpful. Would recommend this resort for a anytime getaway! Will definitely be back to stay at the fabulous place!
