A Little Shabby
The location is very good with nice views of the cruise ships coming in and out each day. Overall, the only way to describe the British Colonial Hilton is it is a little shabby, in need of some paint, carpet, and care. Everyone was very friendly. As a diamond member, we had access to the Executive Lounge, which served a very good afternoon tea and evening reception each day. The food options were a little different each day--the ginger cookies one of the afternoons were super. For drink options, the tea was average and beer options were limited, but Tanqueray was a nice option. Breakfast for diamond members was only the continental rather than full breakfast, but the options were plentiful. We are not likely to return, but this is less a commentary on the Hilton and more a reflection of our feelings on Nassau. Although everyone was incredibly friendly, the driving force for the city seems to be the cruise ships arriving each day, and the whole area is a little shabby, not just the hotel.
Hawaii or Cancun will be my future trips.....
Went with my wife for our Anniversary, we go somewhere new every year. The place is not up to Hilton Standards. The water in the rooms smells like sewage. There is not good coffee anywhere. Everything is imported in, there is nothing from the island that makes it special other the the Conch, which clams will suffice in my book. Some of the people were amazing to get to know, but there was more negative than not. There were parts of the island worse than a 3rd world country, but it states that it is one of the top richest countries in the world. There is Bahama anymore, it is being over run by international corporations. There are 5 ships a day that come in and out of the ports, or there is the Atlantis hotel. I really just don’t know what to say, the beaches are no better than Hawaii or Cancun, and the services are dismal. Feel bad for the good people that live here.
The British Colonial is a lovely hotel in downtown Nassau with a nice private beach overlooking the harbor. My room was very nice with a beautiful view. Good executive lounge area for tea or happy hour.
Best Caribbean Hilton experience
Great check in experience. The amenities at the Executive Lounge were on point. Miss Susan at the front desk was very charming and elevated my experience throughout my stay. Kara in the Executive Lounge was a charm and please everyday. Both ladies remembered my name and always asked where was Gabby my daughter if they didn’t see her. Felicia was the best housekeeping attendant in all of my travels. I provided her my request for amenities and she ensured I had the right ones everyday. She was so kind and always smiling every morning I encountered her. As for the property itself. Hilton did a great job at preserving and sharing the History of the building while keeping it current. The hotel is located in a great spot downtown without that downtown feel. Easy access to everything. Unlike other downtown properties, they have they are beachfront and not across the street from the beach. The day pass to the beach is a must for me should I decide to come to Nassau on a day trip.
Poor service and price/quality ratio
Compared to other hotels in the area like atlantis and bahamar personnel is rude (as if as guest they did us a favour). Check in and out experiences with issues (room provided with 3 hours delay although i arrived at 7 pm, incorrect billing) Bar service is poor Room is average with no minibar Breakfast is good
