Superb Getaway for a Simple Stay on the Beach
Simple, affordable, all-inclusive tranquility. All you need. If you want to gamble, you can walk over to Baha Mar. If you want a peaceful, tranquil escape without breaking the bank, and a little bit of entertainment, this is your resort. Clean and well maintained. No young children. So no whining or crying kids. Beach was not crowded. Food is delightful. Plenty of drinks from multiple bars. Excursions available. Go snorkeling with Duran. Talent show, karaoke, magic act, Junkanoo parade! The staff is phenomenal Singing, dancing, poetry, and more! Berkel is AMAZING. took my daughter under her wing and danced with her in the Junkanoo parade. Sammy What a great young man! He played volleyball with us and treated us like friends went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Reno what a talented and personable person! Always had a smile for us. Larry - He was my pillar of support on the trapeze! Pool bartenders were more than willing to make ANY cocktail. Criticisms are the lounge act Funky D is a little lame. I wish they would play steel drum music as background music. The steel drum duo at the buffet were spectacular ambience. I'd like to see more variety like the magic acts at night. More Junkanoo and Bahamian style events. They should accommodate food allergies at the restaurants a little better. Need nut-free choices. Don't waste your money on a resort that doesn't feel Bahamian. Keep it simple, relax, and let your troubles melt away at Breezes. Best vacation of my life.
Fun but not what I expected
Went over the 4th of July with my daughter who is 20 and her friend. Went so they could "try" different drinks being that it is all inclusive. WRONG. They were limited on the drink menu. Couldn't make a mojito or a mule. Drinks were VERY sugary and water down. By the end of the trip we were dinking beer just cause we were sick of all the sugar in the drinks. Bar service is VERY slow, tip- bring your own yeti cup, the drink cups they give you are small. Inside you can ask for a glass and not plastic, but that is only inside. If you are wanting a romantic get away this is not the place, more of a party place. Food - was EXCELLENT- I will say. Tip- get to "restaurants" early as the wait can be long and they go by first come first serve, so take note of who arrived before and after you. Rooms, need updating but we weren't in them that much so no big deal. The beds were very comfy I must say. The entertainment is best described as old school cruise ship entertainment. Or cruise ship entertainment want to be's. Don't get me wrong it was nice and entertaining but very very very cheesy. Get to pool by 930 for shade and even earlier for the beach. Cabana's for $50 a day totally worth it. Bottom line if you are looking to get away and relax and drink with young adults- go for it. looking for a romantic quite trip for two- go somewhere else.
We have just returned from a two week stay at the Breezes Bahamas (travel dates were 20th July – 3rd August) and we had a fantastic time. Reading the reviews prior to our arrival we were very sceptical in what we were letting ourselves in for, and even rang our travel company up to inform them of all the negative reviews. With the negative reviews aside - our stay was fabulous and we had an incredible time. The transfer time from the airport was approx. 15 mins and we used one of the taxis outside the airport terminal, paying $30 for this journey. We arrived at the hotel about 15:00 and check in was very swift. We were greeted with a nice refreshing cocktail. The front desk details the al a carte restaurants opening times. Room – we were located in the block that had 4 floors. The room itself was very commodious and had plenty of storage space. There were several plug sockets, the AC worked well and wasn’t cutting out or noisy. Both the water temperature and pressure of the shower were spot on. A hairdryer was provided within the bathroom alongside hand soap and showergel. An ironing board and iron were provided as standard. Housekeeping kept the room clean; ensuring we always had clean fresh towels and changed the bedding on a regular basis. Wi-Fi worked excellent within the room. The bed was a good kingsize and both the pillows and bed were very comfortable. A safe and key were also provided as standard. The one thing that the room did lack was a balcony and a fridge. The in room directory mentioned that you could rent a fridge $10 per day. To us a fridge should come as standard and we weren’t prepared to pay for this additional charge. The lack of a balcony meant there were limits where we could dry our garments. We utilised our sunbed towel pegs to ensure our garments were not blown from the window rail. Pool/beach area – the hut to redeem the beach towels is located on one of the entrances to the beach and opens approx. 8.00am. Although we didn’t use the pool during our stay it was cleaned on a daily basis and staff worked hard to keep the area clean and well maintained. We used the beach for our sunbathing and enjoyed every minute of it. The beach itself is beautiful with fine white sand and azure sea. The sea wasn’t choppy at all and at most times was very calm. The beach area allocated to the breezes is very vast which is great as you can drag your sunbed anywhere you want without being clumped next to someone. There are plenty of available sunbeds no matter what time of day you head out. Looking at the beach area of the hotel next door everyone looked cooped up like chickens, so 10/10 for the Breezes beach area. The beds are quite comfortable and there are several tables floating about to rest your drink and possessions on them. We had no issues with security and left all our ipods, watches and kindles on display without them being stolen. There are beach hawkers walking up and down trying to sell cigars, shells, hair braiding and excursions and jet skis. If you just tell them no thanks they will leave you alone. The pool bar opens at 10:00 and closes about 18:00. As this is the only bar open during this time it can get pretty congested, but the staff work extremely hard to get these queues down. As regular travellers we always take several plastic pint cups, 1 litre plastic cups and straws. Both staff and guests were fascinated and intrigued by our cups and straws and were asking where we got them from. You definitely need these cup sizes at this hotel as the drinks are served in small child like party sized cups. We also came prepared with bringing several water bottles with us. This hotel does not provide bottles of water (we believe the gift shop sells water bottles at $5), so we recycled our water bottles using the water canisters provided at the pool bar. The drink selection at the pool bar was spot on. They had everything ranging from daiquiris, green slushes, mudslides, frozen margaritas, domestic beer – sands and sands light, amaretto, Captain Morgan’s spiced, Jack Daniels and Jim Beam. Restaurants – there are 3 al a carte restaurants on site – Martinos (Italian), Mayasan (Chinese) and Eden (French). As previously mentioned there is a sign at reception detailing these restaurant opening times. These restaurants do lack a reservation system and at times can become chaotic when trying to get into them. Basically you just turn up and try and flag an available maître’d or host/hostess who will then call you over when a table becomes available. Talking to one of the staff members they did previously have a structured reservation system but decided to get rid of it. We believe this is something that needs to be resurrected. When we were waiting for a table for the Italians and Eden we used to go into the nightclub and get a drink while we waited. The food available in all restaurants was to a high standard and we were never disappointed. All restaurant staff front of house and behind the scenes work extremely hard and it does not go unnoticed. Bars – lobby bar is open approx. 18:00 – 12:00 and again has a wide selection of drinks. The nightclub is open 23.30 – 2:00 and again has a wide selection of drinks. Our favourite bar was the piano bar (opening times 21:00 – 01:00). This bar was for 25 and over and had air conditioning. Again there was a wide selection of drinks and during the week there were several piano players who were very talented and always had a good audience of people singing along to their songs. On one of the days we ventured into the old town and used the local bus, we paid $1.25 for this journey and took approx. 15mins. Another day we went on a day trip with hidden beaches to swim with the pigs and sharks and as the bus wasn’t operating that early we got a taxi which cost $28. As our return flight wasn’t till 22:15 on the Saturday evening the hotel let us use all the facilities and restaurants etc. after we checked out at 11:00. We used the bell boy’s storage room to put our luggage and bags etc. and used the shower rooms to get washed which are just behind reception. The bell boy provided us with a towel and each male and female shower rooms had approx. 10 shower cubicles and provided a hairdryer and toiletries. Overall we had a brilliant holiday, we feel guilty now for believing all the negative reviews prior to arrival. We didn’t have one complaint. All the staff work extremely hard and as previously mentioned it does not go unnoticed. We would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family and would definitely return in a heartbeat. We would like to say a big heartfelt thanks to the following staff members – William (supervisor lobby bar/piano bar), Tavarus (lobby bar/piano bar), Joshua (lobby bar), Walter (pool bar), Gabriel (pool bar), Xavier (pool bar), Michael (piano bar), Brittany C (pool bar), Brittany (worked both the pool bar and the piano bar), Rodrika (pool bar), Wordy (waiter at the Eden restaurant), the two Gretals at Martinos, Kearnon at Mayasan, Ava at Martinos and Ideira at Martinos.
Old, outdated and no effort to make small updates. Short staffed, serviced very poor. No service at pool or beach so be ready to get your own drinks. Horrible food! Salad fruit and bread are always good otherwise food is dry and cheap. No coffee or refrigerator in rooms and No bottled water!!! This is a non-luxury vacation. Pros - the little staff they have are very friendly, the beach is beautiful and the resort is clean.
Family fun time
Shout out to all the staff at Breezes. I have never stayed at a place where the staff were more friendly and HAPPY. They made us feel like a part of their family. Great people. To Reno, Marvin, Sammy, jerry, Al, Godfrey and his special along with his card tricks at the pool bar. Let’s not forget the young ladies too. Staff talent was an enjoyable evening. Last but not least let’s not forget Funky D. We are already looking at dates to return.
